The Daily Mirror has announced this morning that the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has confirmed that he is moving to Arsenal in the summer, and he will be facing “the biggest challenge of his career”.

The Morrocan striker refused to go into details as he says he prefers to concentrate on trying to win the Champions League trophy with Bordeaux. The Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh has been angling for a move to the Emirates ever since Arsene Wenger made an unsuccessful bid for him last summer, and now, as he approaches the end of his contract, he again has admitted his choice is to join Arsenal.

Having bought the Bolivian lad Samuel Galindo, it seems that Arsenal will now have to park him somewhere while they work on getting him a work permit for the Premiership. The Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has alredy stated that he is definitely in the market for a striker this month, but his long-time target Marouane Chamakh is definitely not an imminent arrival. Wenger said yesterday: “Chamakh is in the Champions League with Bordeaux and at the top of their league, so he will not move now,”
