Arsenal rumours July 8th – Schwarzer, Mesut Ozil, Wright-Phillips, Asamoah and Benzema 24

Posted on July 08, 2010 by admin

It is great news that Wenger has finally got Laurent Koscielny on board, although it is my opinion that he was probably forced to pay more than his original valuation considering his experience.

But other than that there are still lots of Arsenal transfer rumours about, and the main one seems to be the imminent arrival of Mark Schwarzer from Fulham. The whispers are saying that the Aussie Number One failed his first medical because of a dodgy knee, but the second medical said that it wouldn’t affect his performance in goal.

Wenger – Almunia is too nervous, so expect an announcement on goalkeeping soon! 31

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger met up with a Kenyan commentator this week, Ampher Apidi, while working at the World Cup in South Africa, and for some reason granted him a personal interview.

He told Apidi that the two best players he had seen at the World Cup were Mesut Ozil, and surprisingly Giovanni Dos Santos, who is Carlos Vela’s team-mate in the Mexico side.

Apidi then asked him if there was a chance that those two players may be playing at the Emirates next season, and he replied: “You can only field 11 players at a time, but we will wait and see.”

Arsenal rumours June 24th – Alex Song, Mesut Ozil, Bougherra and Pablo Sarabia 40

Posted on June 24, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger has had a great view of all the best players at the World Cup, so most of the Arsenal transfer rumours today are focused on players that are performing well in the competition, but the problem is that other scouts can see the Arsenal players on show too!

Franck Rijkaard, the Galatasary manager, is also at the tournament, and the Turkish papers are saying that he is keen on signing Alex Song and will offer the 22 year-old a three-year contract with an enormous wage packet. The problem lies when they go on to say that they are only going to offer Arsenal £4m. I can just imagine Wenger’s reaction if someone brought him an offer like that…..

Arsenal rumours June 17th – Gourcuff, Mesut Ozil, Jagielka, Ebicilio and Van Der Wiel 14

There are still a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours about, but today they all seem to be negatives! To start with we have the Bordeaux playmaker Joann Gourcuff, who has been tipped to rejoin his old strike partner Marouane Chamakh at the Emirates.

The biggest investor in the French giants, Nicolas de Tavernost, stated today that he would rather leave all talk until after the World Cup.

“Contrary to what I have heard, we have the means to keep him at the club next season,” De Tavernost told L’Equipe.

“He can stay with us. There is no reason for him to leave.

Arsenal rumours June 16th – Afellay, Gallas, Muntari, Mesut Ozil and Koscielny 14

Posted on June 16, 2010 by admin

There is still lots of Arsenal transfer rumours about, and it certainly looks like Laurent Koscielny will be the first target to arrive at the Emirates since the window opened. I have already covered what Koscielny’s agent said so it certainly looks nailed on.

The latest on the sulky William Gallas is that he is close to signing for Juventus. The reports say that the Italian giants have offered him a two year contract, but of course he is now trying to squeeze three years out of the. He will probably spend most of his time on the bench anyway (or the treatment table!)

Arsenal rumours June 9th – Joe Cole, Gallas, Martinez, Mesut Ozil and Robert Green 24

Posted on June 09, 2010 by admin

Everybody knows that the out-of-contract Phillipe Senderos has signed for Fulham by now, so I don’t need to give you details on that one, but there is lots of other Arsenal transfer news around.

I find it extremely hard to believe that Chelsea have allowed Joe Cole to leave on a free transfer, especially after winning his place back in the England team, but it seems to be a fact. Therefore Chelsea’s loss could be Arsenal’s gain, although the figures mentioned about his wage demands (£100k+ in the Independent) look like they could be beyond Arsenal’s measly wage structure. It is said that he met with Wenger before leaving for England duty so there is hope on that one. Perhaps Wenger could get around the wages problem by giving Cole a few million as a signing on fee……

Arsenal transfer rumours Jan 18th – Chris Smalling, Mesut Ozil, Senderos and Szczesny 14

Posted on January 18, 2010 by admin

With Arsene Wenger revealing that injuries are taking their toll on his team, the papers are full of Arsenal transfer news this morning.

I have already covered the Phillipe Senderos to Celtic story earlier, but there is another couple of bits of gossip around. The newest name to be bandied around is the young Fulham defender Chris Smalling. The Daily Mirror reports that Wenger has offered £7m for the big talented defender.

He could be the long-term replacement for William Gallas and would add some height to the notoriously small Arsenal team. Whether Fulham will be willing to let him go is another matter!

Mesut Ozil agent coy on "interest from Arsenal" 9

Posted on November 13, 2009 by admin

There were rumours earlier this week that the Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil was being tracked by Arsenal as a potential future replacement for Cesc Fabregas, and i for one thought nothing of it, but today’s news that the agent refuses to talk about it has given me food for thought.

Agents are normally more than willing to give their tuppence worth at every available opportunity, so for this one to refuse any comment makes me think he must have something to hide!

Okay it might just be my paranoid, conspiracy-theory type of thinking, but you never know!
