The Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie went to see the controversial “placenta cure” clinic run by Marijana Kovacevic in Serbia soon after being told of the extent of his injuries, but now says that with the new diagnosis there was no hope of it being successful.
But he doesn’t regret the visit, despite it obviously being a waste of time.
Van Persie said: “In the area of torn muscles and partly torn ligaments she has treated players in the majority of cases with success. The Serbian FA have decided to join in the growing furore over the unlicensed “miracle cure” practised by Marijana Kovacevic on footballers from around the world, despite numerous claims that it has been proven to be successful.

The controversy surrounding the “miracle cure” clinic that the Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie visited last week, looks set to continue for a while.
The latest Premiership player to talk about his treatment in Serbia is the Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun, who insists that Marijana Kovacevic told him that he was using placenta from a woman to massage his leg, not from a horse as has been reported previously.
