Now we all know that Jack Wilshere is Arsenal through-and-through, but could he really be serious that he believes that Arsenal can still win the title, despite being 18 points behind Man United in eighth place right now, in fact we are only nine points above the relegation places!

The Gunners have won just two of their last seven games, and were knocked out of the League Cup by lowly Bradford last week, but Jack is still using the word “realistically” whereas “extremely hopefully” would be more accurate!

The Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has seen his team beat both Liverpool and Man United in recent games, but he is not quite so confident of getting another three points against Arsenal this evening at the Emirates, in fact he thinks that today’s Gunners are even better than the team that whopped Wigan 4-0 earlier this season.

The fact is that in Arsenal’s current form, Martinez would be better off trying his luck at real money bingo tonight than bothering to bring his team to the Emirates!

The Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is rumoured to be the surprise target of Blackburn Rovers this summer. Although the club is struggling to avoid relegation the Lancashire club’s owners still have ambitious plans for the club and are ready to bid £15m for Bendtner and give him the promise of guaranteed first-team football.

The Daily Mail reported that the Indian owners, Venky’s, have already tried to finance moves for Ronaldinho and David Beckham, which both failed and they’ve also been linked with an unlikely bid for Kaka. The ex-Arsenal manager George Graham thinks it is obvious that the Gunners are not going to be good enough to challenge for the top honours unless they replace Manuel Almunia with a top-class goalkeeper, and he doesn’t think they should just be looking at Mark Schwarzer.

Graham said: “I think if you’re going to really be realistic challengers for the Premier League you need a top, top-class goalkeeper.

“I think Almunia is a good goalkeeper but there’s about half a dozen good goalkeepers in the Premier League.
