Wigan v Arsenal – Terrible play but great result!

Wigan 0 – 1 Arsenal. A gritty win that will be vital at the end of the season by KJ

Today’s game was a very odd match. On paper and on form, it looked like another thrashing was going to be dished out by Arsenal but in the end, we were lucky to get the win. However, it’s well known that winning when you’re playing terribly is what champions are made off.

Wenger – Arsenal’s defeat to United last year is not important

Arsene Wenger is preparing to visit Old Trafford for the first time in the League since the 8-2 mauling from Man United last season, but he doesn’t think that freak result will have any affect on the players this time around.

Arsenal were severely depleted by injuries for that match, and many think that the loss prompted Wenger into a mass of panic buys as the transfer window closed shortly after that game, and it is in the record books as Wenger’s worst defeat ever at Arsenal.

Gaz: I’m proud of Arsenal – but it’s too little too late

GREAT WIN, BUT DON’T LET IT FOOL YOU. by Gaz

Its been a while. Too long really. But yesterday, after watching Arsenal beat Man Utd at the Emirates, I am delighted to say that I am proud of our boys once again. Every single player gave his all, against a Man Utd side that is leading the Premiership, and on course to making the final of the Champions League. We bossed the game throughout, with our trademark possession football, probing for openings, and making the Utd players chase shadows for long periods. Aaron Ramsey slotted into our midfield with ridiculous ease, replacing the injured Fabregas, and going on to score the winning goal. His all round contribution was really impressive too, as he linked up brilliantly with Jack Wilshere all game long , giving us a preview of things to come next season hopefully.

Walcott – We made Chelsea look average!

Theo Walcott was understandably elated after the Gunners beat Chelsea, but more importantly, controlled the game from beginning to end. He believes Arsenal are now in with a real chance of the title, and he says the team didn’t even think about the awful run of results against Chelsea up to yesterday.

“We didn’t think about that at all. It was in the past. We were concentrating on the defensive of the game today. Everyone pressed. It was so good to see,” Walcott said.

“Not just the starters, but the players who came on as well. They pressed and we didn’t give Chelsea space at all. We did that throughout the 90 minutes.

Fabianski – I played well, shame about the result!

The Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski thinks that he had a very good game against Chelsea, and there was little that he could have done to stop the two goals that gave Chelsea the points in the biggest London derby.

“I was unlucky on Drogba’s goal,” Fabianski said. “It hit the post and only just went in. It was a difficult situation because two centimeters more and I probably would have saved it.

“Alex’s free-kick was a powerful strike. You never see a player who is going to strike it straight with his right foot that goes all the way away from you. It was strange. It was difficult. I think my position was good but it was really, really powerful.
