Arsenal get Van Persie boost – “He looks sharp” 6

Posted on March 21, 2010 by admin

For a large part of this season Arsenal were lacking any firepower as all their strikers were injured at the same time, but now most of their injury problems are in defence.

Considering the amount of crocks they Arsenal had this year it is nothing short of a miracle that Wenger has managed to get his club back to the top of the Premier League this morning,

The club received yet another boost as the French manager has revealed today that Robin Van Persie is going to return to train with Arsenal again this week, and could return to the team in time to play some crucial end-of-season games.

It was thought that the Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie would miss the whole of the season when he injured his ankle playing for Holland against Italy, but today both Arsene Wenger and the Holland coach Bert Van Marwijk have forecast that Van Persie could return much sooner than later.

Wenger told the Sunday Times: “There is a chance for Van Persie to be back mid-April.”

But Van Marwijk is predicting that he will be back even earlier, perhaps in just three weeks time!

Juventus – You can have Melo, but we want Van Persie! 29

According to reports coming in today, the Italian giants Juventus are more than willing to let Arsene Wenger have Felipe Melo, but they want one of the top Arsenal players in return, and top of the list is Robin Van Persie.

Melo has not fitted into the Juventus team since arriving from Fiorentina during the summer, and Wenger has already stated that he is still interested in bringing him to the Emirates after losing out to the Old Lady in the transfer window.

Arsene Wenger has received a tremendous boost this week with the news that Robin Van Persie has made rapid improvement after the operation on his ankle, and is now expected to be able to help the team in the crucial latter stages of the season.

The Mail today reports that Van Persie’s Dutch medical team has revised his expected return date to just seven weeks time. It seems that he is now walking freely and has resumed light training as he attempts to build his strength back up. It was originally thought that the Dutch international would be lucky to take any more part in Arsenal’s season but this news will help vindicate Arsene Wenger’s decision not to buy another striker this month.

Arsene Wenger expecting a busy transfer window, and confirms he will buy a striker 7

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will definitely be buying a striker during the transfer window, and has revealed that Nicklas Bendtner will not be returning to the side in January, as was previously expected.

“Robin Van Persie and Bendtner contributed to many of the 51 goals we scored,” Wenger said. “They were both in outstanding form and we miss them.

“But on the other hand we have played 19 games and if you multiply 51 by two it is over 100 goals for the season.

“That is absolutely tremendous and people don’t realise how efficient we are going forward.

Dutch FA tell Arsenal they have no chance of Van Persie compensation! 5

The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has promised that his club are going to sue the Dutch FA for compensation after Robin Van Persie was injured during a friendly match against Italy.

Wenger said: “We are working on this with our lawyers at the moment and we are definitely going for it.”

“I expect financial compensation for the damage it can make to the championship and the salary involved. It is especially frustrating to lose your players for the rest of the season in a friendly game.”

Wenger still fuming about Van Persie and wants changes! 1

Arsene Wenger has made many statements against the Dutch FA since Robin Van Persie was ruled out for the rest of Arsenal’s season. He is understandably annoyed that he has lost his star striker for the rest of the season, thanks to a “meaningless friendly”, and now he is demanding changes to the rules.

“I look basically to rebalance a little bit the power in favour of the clubs,” said Wenger.

“At the moment we feel inside the clubs – and that feeling is shared between many mangers who are responsible in the clubs – that we have nothing to say. Our players go away to friendlies, they come back injured and nobody cares and we just have to accept the situation.

Arsenal to demand massive compensation for loss of Van Persie 1

The Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has revealed that the club intend to sue the Dutch FA or EUFA for compensation after they lost Robin Van Persie for the rest of the season.

Van Persie tore some ligaments in his ankle while playing in a “meaningless” friendly for Holland against Italy last month, and to make it worse, the official doctors on the scene misdiagnosed the injury, leading to a delay in urgent treatment to Arsenal’s leding striker.

Wenger said: “Nobody knows what it will cost us, but we’ll seek financial compensation for the salary.
