It has been a strange season for Santi Cazorla with Arsenal this season. The Spaniard who was so brilliant in his debut season with the Gunners has failed to hit the same heights that earned him the fans’ vote for Arsenal Player of the Year last time, for whatever reasons, but he turned the clock back with a Man of the Match showing against the Hammers.
Why Fabregas will never go to Man United. by JH
I notice that a lot of Arsenal fans seem to be worried about Cesc going to United, there’s a number of reasons why this will never happen.
First of all, it’s clear from how torn he was when he decided to leave us to go home to his boyhood club. Arsene Wenger has been a father to Cesc since he took him to London at the tender age of 16 and gave him the stage to express his talents. Cesc is forever indebted to Arsenal and Wenger for this. Had he stayed at Barcelona would he even have been in the Spain squad for the World Cup or Euros? Pretty doubtful. It would be a bitter blow to Arsenal if he decided to join our rivals and I believe he loves the club too much to do it.
However much fans groups try, or Wenger calls for respect, there will be no doubting the feeling of many Arsenal fans about Robin van Persie when Manchester United come to the Emirates on Sunday. The Arsemal players, however, need to try to ignore what is going on in the stands and not get caught up in the emotion.
On the pitch, the Gunners have a massive job to do, and the Dutch striker is a key player for Alex Ferguson’s team. There is no doubt that our former captain will be desperate to score, but the Arsenal players must approach it like any other tough game that we need to get points off.
Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday to face Chelsea in a game that could have a huge saying on the season for both clubs. The Gunners are coming off the back of the best performance in a while, knowing that a win will put us just five points behind Chelsea with a game in hand. The Blues, on the other hand, are in a bad way. The Blues have lost two and drawn one of their last three home games against Southampton, Swansea and QPR.
Arsenal shouldn’t sign Pepe Reina. by KJ
There have been rumours lately that Arsenal are after Spain international, Pepe Reina. He used to be a brilliant player in a solid Liverpool side but has lost his way as the quality in front of him has dropped. Is he really the best keeper for Arsenal? Not at all.
He was once a great keeper but now, I can’t even distinguish him from the impossibly bad Mannone. Even now, he’s being benched for Brad Jones (yeah, I haven’t really heard of him either). He’s even lost his place to Valdes in the national side as second keeper to Casillas.
