Arsenal officially release Gallas, Silvestre and Campbell 24

Posted on June 13, 2010 by admin

It is not much of a surprise that Arsenal have allowed William Gallas to leave without renewing his contract after Peter Hill-Wood said last month: “His demands are extravagant and I don’t think we are prepared to go along with it. He is a good player, but you have got to draw the line somewhere.”, but the Sunday Mirror says there are a few other names on the official list.

Mikael Silvestre has not been mentioned once in the same breath as “contract negotiations” so again it is no surprise that he has parted ways either. Phillipe Senderos was also on the list, but we already know that he has signed for Fulham.

Wenger needs to buy to avert a defensive crisis! 10

I know it has become the fashion to criticize Arsene Wenger for not putting his hands in his pocket, but I feel it is time to highlight a potential disaster at the Emirates next season. The Arsenal manager came close to buying Chris Smalling in January, and perhaps looking back he may wish that he had acted faster, and possibly offered a more realistic figure, for the promising young defender, as he may now be forced to buy any defender that comes available this summer.

Arsenal have a defensive crisis before Chelsea game, but Silvestre feels confident! 2

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is looking at his lack of defenders before facing a Chelsea team that is flying at the top of the Premiership, and it looks like he will have a couple of rookies holding the fort.

Kieran Gibbs was diagnosed with a broken metatarsal yesterday to put him on the treatment table alongside Gael Clichy and William Gallas.

Gallas has started every game up until now, but his clash of heads with Andrei Arshavin during the game against Standard Liege has left him with a seriously swollen eye and he is now an unlikely starter in the top-of-the-table clash.

Silvestre to replace Gibbs against Sunderland? 2

With Arsene Wenger waiting for the bad news regarding the extent of Kieran Gibbs injury, it seems certain that Mikael Silvestre, who has only played twice for the Arsenal first team this season, will be entrusted with covering for Gibbs.

Wenger is more likely to pluck for experience over the youthful Armand Traore for such an important game, but It is possible that Traore may get a couple of chances in such a busy period.

Wenger said last month about Traore: “He can be a big surprise because he has improved a lot,”

Ray Parlour – Alex Song is "key to Arsenal's success" 5

Posted on October 15, 2009 by admin

The Arsenal legend Ray Parlour thinks that Arsene Wenger’s team is playing brilliantly throughout the side, and will prove it again on Saturday in the Premier League game against Birmingham, but he wanted to give Alex Song as special mention for his performances so far.

“I expect us beat Birmingham comfortably at the weekend,” he said.

“Arsenal are really playing well with great confidence – and I have been particularly impressed with our attacking. It’s incredible. Tomas Rosicky has been brilliant since coming back from injury.

When will Walcott return?

When will Walcott return?

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has announced the squad for tonights Carling Cup match against West Brom, and the expected return of Theo Walcott and Andrey Arshavin has not materialized as expected.

Walcott is yet to make an appearance this season, and Wenger told the world that he was fully recovered from his injury last week and just needed work on his fitness. This seems to be taking a lot longer than first thought.

Andrey Arshavin resumed training this weekend, but he is obviously not ready to have a run out yet either.

Arsenal v West Brom team news – Carlos Vela returns, and Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs and Traore will play 8

Posted on September 21, 2009 by admin

The great news for Arsenal fans is that Carlos Vela has recovered from his ankle injury at last and will be playing against West Brom in the Carling Cup in midweek.

The other Arsenal team news is that Wilshere, Ramsey, Gibbs and Traore are also scheduled to be in the team according to Arsene Wenger. Theo Walcott and Andrey Arshavin are also hopeful of being ready to begin there transition back to the first team in this game too. The team may be mostly reserves but with those seven stars in the side they will hardly be a weakened side of youngsters that Wenger normally puts out for the Carling Cup games.

Breaking News – Fabregas may be fit for Man Utd match 0

Posted on August 25, 2009 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has released a statement just now, during the Celtic pre-match confrrence website, that says that his captain Cesc Fabregas is not as badly injured as he first thought, and although he will definitely miss tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Celtic, he may be okay to face Man Utd on Saturday.

The statement reads: “From last Saturday we lost Cesc Fabregas who did not train today” the manager said.

“His scan was quite reassuring as he has no muscular strain but it will take a few days to settle down.

Wenger blames injuries for last seasons failures – Will the same happen this year? 0

Posted on August 25, 2009 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that it was the unavailability of some of his big names that contributed to his team getting beaten in two semi-finals last season.

“People forget that at the end of the season in big games, we did not have William Gallas, we did not have Gael Clichy, no Eduardo, nor Tomas Rosicky,’ Wenger said.

“You miss these important players.

“In the big games, if Eduardo can come on, you always have the hope he can score goals.”
