Five players Arsenal could (and should) buy this summer 73

Which positions need signings? by KJ

We go into the crucial game against Tottenham at White Hart Lane as underdogs. It pains me to say it but an argument can be made for Tottenham being the better team this season. I don’t personally subscribe to that as I feel some of the players have been slacking and should be much higher up than what we are now. However, one thing is certain; we aren’t good enough to win the title. So, I thought we’d have a quick look at where we can strengthen and where we are actually excelling:

Do we need James McCarthy? by KJ

It’s clear as day that Wenger needs a new central midfielder. We’ve only got 3 proper first team midfielders at the moment and they seem hopeless together. We’ve also got another extremely talented one but he’s a crock, constantly stuck on the injury table. As a result, Wenger has been perusing the market for the answer and the reports indicate that Wigan’s James McCarthy (valued at £8 million) is Arsenal’s answer.

Should Arsenal sign Yann M’Vila by KJ

As we approach the January transfer window, the transfer rumours are naturally hotting up. One man’s name that doesn’t seem to go away is that of Yann M’Vila. We’ve been linked with him for the last two seasons now and it’s started again in the build-up to the January window.

Yann M’Vila was one of the most promising youngsters in Europe. Players like him are rare in the current market; a defensive midfielder with grit and power as well as being able to pick out a forward pass. He had it all to make it big. He was even in the Ligue 1 team of the year during the 2010-2011 season at the tender age of 20 for his performances.

Arsenal scouting £20m-rated Dutch international midfielder 36

It has been revealed that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has sent his chief scout Steve Rowley to Holland to watch the PSV midfielder Kevin Strootman in action in yesterday’s big game against Ajax. The £20m-rated Dutch international has been tracked by Manchester United for some time, but with Wenger desperate to improve his team in the centre of the park he is willing to break the club’s transfer record to bring in the 22 year-old.

Arsenal linked with £10m Dutch international star 21

New Dutch sensation Kevin Strootman is due to become the next big thing in Football, and according to today’s TalkSport, the 22-year-old midfielder has attracted the interest of the Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The PSV star has managed to make his breakthrough to the senior Netherlands national team last year causing City’s Nigel De Jong to become not much more than a benchwarmer, and he’s managed to gather 10 appearances for the Dutch squad already and also score his first goal. His debut for the national team coincided with his move from Utrecht to PSV, where he fast became one of the most important players.
