Arsenal Debate: Sturridge or Walcott? 39

Posted on October 22, 2012 by admin

The situations of Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge and our own Theo Walcott are very similar. They are both unsettled at their present clubs seemingly because they are both being used as wingers but are both adamant that they have a godgiven right to be deployed as an out-and-out striker.

Liverpool are definitely in the market for another striker and the rumours are saying that they want either Walcott or Sturridge to move up Merseyside in January, but with the Arsenal man not wanting to leave London there is surely more probability that he would prefer a move to our London neighbours, and perhaps Chelsea would allow Sturridge to move to the Emirates in exchange.

The striker swap deal that even Arsenal couldn’t refuse! 140

Arsenal to swap Bendtner for Lewandowski-Yes Please! by BA

Robert Lewandowski has just scored 30 goals from 46 appearances in all competitions this season. He led his side, Borussia Dortmund, to an historic league and cup double, scoring a hat-trick against Bayern Munich in the cup final. He was also voted player of the year in the German Bundesliga.

So I was slightly taken aback when I saw reports that suggested that Nicklas Bendtner could be part of a deal that brings the 23-year old Polish international striker to Arsenal. What is going on? Lewandowski has two years of his contract left to run, and the Dortmund board have stated that he is not going anywhere.

Arsenal to swap Theo Walcott for Daniel Sturridge? 79

Posted on February 22, 2012 by admin

It is definitely one of the more outlandish Arsenal transfer rumours doing the rounds today, but if it is true it would seem to be an excellent deal for Arsene Wenger right now.

With it now seeming extremely unlikely that Robin Van Persie is going to extend his contract at Arsenal, the Gunners are going to be in desperate need of another prolific centre-forward to fill his shoes, and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge certainly has the promise to do that with aplomb.

So how many Arsenal fans would swap Wenger for Mourinho? 161

Posted on January 25, 2012 by admin

I guess everyone has seen the yearly rumours linking Arsene Wenger with a move to Real Madrid, after it has been revealed that Jose Mourinho is not getting on very well with his players, and he was even (like Wenger) abused by the Real Madrid fans despite his team being five points clear of Barcelona in La Liga.

Mourinho said: “I’m not bothered by the whistles at me,’ he said. ‘It’s not a problem. It’s the first time it’s ever happened to me. There’s a first time for practically everything.

“(Zinedine) Zidane was whistled at here. Ronaldo has been whistled at here. Cristiano (Ronaldo), who is the latest Golden Boot winner, has also been whistled at. Why can’t I?

Arsenal offered Serbian international in swap for Walcott? 19

Posted on December 05, 2011 by admin

Reports are coming in that the Italian giants Juventus are still intending to make a big bid to sign Theo Walcott, and are prepared to offer the Serbian International Milos Krasic as part exchange on the deal.

Walcott is currently in the same position as Robin Van Persie with just 18 months left on his contract at Arsenal, and if he doesn’t sign by the end of this season then Arsene Wenger will have choice but to let him leave the Emirates, and Juventus have been reportedly on Walcott’s trail since the beginning of the season.

£17.5 million plus Alvarez for Ramsey? Good deal for Arsenal? 53

Posted on October 28, 2011 by admin

The Gunners’ leading light Robin Van Persie has, as expected, been subject to the majority of attention in regards to his contract which expires at the end of next season. But he is not the only Arsenal player being linked with a move away from the Emirates.

The young Welshman Aaron Ramsey is also the target for some, in particular Inter Milan. With two goals and 5 assists already since the summer – including his last-gasp winner in the south of France – he has been contributing well to Arsenal’s cause but has still come under scrutiny for lacking the quality he showed last season.

Arsenal offered Willian for Denilson plus £4m? Take it quick! 56

Posted on June 08, 2011 by admin

Of all the Arsenal transfer rumours I have heard so far this year, this must surely count as one of the best, in fact if I was Arsene Wenger I would immediately fly out to the Ukraine and get this deal done and dusted quickly.

The Sun reports that the Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk are willing to let their brilliant Brazilian winger Willian move to the Emirates, and they are demanding (hehe!) that Arsenal give them Denilson and a paltry £4m on top.

Willian has been touted as a more than able replacement for Samir Nasri (if he leaves of course) but the report says that Wenger was not happy to pay the full £13m valuation for the 22 year-old, so Shakhtar have therefore proposed to include Denilson as part of the deal.

Wenger to sacrifice Eboue to get Taarabt? 49

Posted on June 05, 2011 by admin

The QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt was the undisputed star at Loftus Road last season and was voted Championship Player Of The Year, and Neil Warnock is well aware that he will have trouble keeping Taarabt out of the clutches of a top club, and according to the Star, Arsenal are one of those interested.

But Warnock will only sell his ex-Tottenham reject if he can also strengthen his side for the struggle to stay in the Premiership next season, and the Star reports that he wants Emmanuel Eboue to join the club.

Wenger to swap Clichy for Leighton Baines? 11

Posted on May 04, 2011 by admin

There is a very strange rumour that Arsène Wenger is set to the offer his full back Gael Clichy to Everton, in exchange for the up and coming England left-back Leighton Baines. By the summer Clichy will only have a year left on his contract and it is being said that the Frenchman has stalled in signing a contract extension.

The Metro reports that Wenger is fearful of losing Clichy on a free transfer next summer and thinks he may be able to use Clichy in a straight swap for Baines. Previously it had been reported that the Gunners would offer Everton £10 million for the Englishman.

Would you swap Cesc for Ibrahimovich? 46

Posted on June 18, 2010 by admin

The ongoing saga of the transfer of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona has taken a new twist today. The Daily Mirror is suggesting that Barcelona are preparing to offer Zlatan Ibrahimovich to Arsenal as part of any deal to take Cesc to the Camp Nou.

With David Villa’s arrival, Ibrahimovich is now thought to be surplus to requirements, despite the club paying a record 69m euros for the striker just last summer.

The Swede has been severely criticized in Spain, but still managed to score 16 goals in just 29 league (including all his first five games!). The year before he was the top scorer in Italy with 25 goals for Inter Milan, so to say the man is over-rated may be a slight exaggeration!

Agent – Toure could be part of Fabregas deal (And Man City are bankrupt!) 31

Posted on June 08, 2010 by admin

The agent of the Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure, Dmitri Seluk, has already announced that his client will be going to the Premier League next season, and today he is saying that Arsenal are keen on taking him, and he could be used as a makeweight in the bid to take Fabregas to the Nou Camp!

Seluk said: “There’s a lot of interest in the deal (for Toure).

“Arsene Wenger likes him and Arsenal are interested.

“If the conditions are good, everything can be finished soon.

“He could come into the Cesc deal and Barca and Arsenal are struggling to come to an agreement.
