Wenger to buy Shaun Wright-Phillips for cut-price £5m? 26

Posted on May 08, 2010 by admin

Theo Walcott is still hoping that he can do enough against Fulham tomorrow to convince Fabio Capello to take him to South Africa. Competition for Walcott’s wing position has been hotting up lately, with Aaron Lennon, Shaun Wright-Phillips, James Milner and even the young Adam Johnson all stamping claims on being in the starting line-up for England.

Wright-Phillips has fallen out of favour at Man City since Roberto Mancini and Adam Johnson both arrived, but is still hopeful of staying in Capello’s team after some good performances for his country. But it is unlikely he will be returning to the Eastlands next season, whether he goes to South Africa or not. Could he end up competing with Walcott at club level as well as on the international stage?

Walcott moves closer to World Cup as Beckham is ruled out for season 4

Posted on March 15, 2010 by admin

Last night the England winger David Beckham suffered a career-ending injury during AC Milan’s 1-0 win over Chievo in Serie A, and has just about ruled himself out of any chance of playing in the World Cup this summer.

There were no other players near Beckham when he pulled up with a torn Achilles tendon, and his manager and team-mates were devastated after the game.

The Milan coach Leonardo said: “Beckham’s injury makes us feel terrible.

“He is an extraordinary guy and today’s game proves it yet again.

“I cannot enjoy this evening considering this serious injury.

Walcott – I won’t get carried away, and I can still improve! 2

Posted on March 08, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott at last put in a scintillating performance against Burnley at the weekend, which he crowned with an excellent goal, but he refuses to get complacent as he realises he still made a few mistakes during the game.

“Hopefully this is a kick-start for me,” he said. “But the thing about me is that I’m not going to get carried away or too big about myself. I will look back at my performance and see what I can do better.

Wenger – Walcott can handle the critics 3

Posted on March 06, 2010 by admin

The young Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has not been in the best of form since his return to the side. After suffering injury after injury all season, he has finally managed to string a few games together, but he is yet to return to the scintillating peformances of last season, which appeared to make him a certainty to play at the World Cup with England.

But his manager Arsene Wenger is confident that the youngster can handle all the criticism thrown his way, and still has time to prove them wrong and win back his place in the England squad.

WHY WALCOTT SHOULD FORGET ENGLAND 7

Given the impression that substitutes James Milner and Shaun Wright Phillips made during the second half of England’s 3-1 victory over Egypt, combined with the early season form of the currently injured Spurs winger Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott’s performance against Egypt has come under much scrutiny, with many suggesting that the Arsenal man may have blown his chances of making the plane to South Africa in the summer on the back of a disappointing first half performance.

CAPELLO OFFERS ENCOURAGEMENT

Walcott – It’s been like a pre-season, but I’m fit now! 9

Posted on March 05, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has finally managed to string a few performances together, after suffering injury after injury since the beginning of the season, but now he really believes he is fit enough to make an impression on Arsenal, and hopefully the England coach Fabio Capello.

Walcott was replaced by Sean Wright-Phillips in the England game against Egypt in midweek, and he realises that he is not guaranteed a place in Capello’s World Cup squad yet.

“Without a doubt, there’s a lot of competition.” Walcott said, “We want all our players back 100% fit and I’m just finding my feet now with my fitness.”

Capello – Walcott has lost his balls! 5

Posted on February 28, 2010 by admin

I couldn’t help but laugh at the English manager Fabio Capello’s comments about Theo Walcott.

After picking the Arsenal winger for the England squad to face Egypt next week, Capello admitted that Walcott was not yet back to his form of last season, and said he needed more games to get his confidence back.

“I saw the last game Theo played,”Capello said.”He was on for 72 minutes and did very well, but he is not in a fantastic moment,”

“He needs to regain confidence because he has lost a lot of balls. He is getting better and better, but he needs to play.”

Lennon injury gives Walcott chance for England 5

Posted on February 23, 2010 by admin

The Tottenham winger, Aaron Lennon, has suffered another setback in his recovery from the groin injury that has kept him out of the game since December. He returned to training but has just had another scan which has revealed further damage to some muscle fibres.

“He was close to getting fit, but has had a bit of a setback,” said Spurs manager Harry Redknapp. “Hopefully it should not put him back much from where he was, and he could still be fit in a couple of weeks.”

Walcott – We dominated Chelsea and can do the same against Liverpool 4

Posted on February 09, 2010 by admin

Theo Walcott made a rare start for Arsenal in the defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and believes that his team were better than Chelsea in all aspects except the two goals.

“We dominated the game, but Chelsea took their chances and you have got to be decisive,” Walcott said.

“We need to learn from that and then push on for the Liverpool game, because if we keep the ball like we did against Chelsea, but create more chances, we can kill anyone.

Wenger – England call-up made Walcott insecure, but he WILL bounce back 2

Posted on February 07, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger thinks that Theo Walcott’s head has been muddled by the constant switching from the full England side to the Under 21’s, and the pressure on him was too much at such an early age.

Wenger said: “It’s very important for a player to know where he is.

“And when he goes to national teams and he is moved up and down, he gets uncertain and insecure and you lose him at both levels.

“When you are a football player, you want to know you belong here.

Wenger – Walcott is not completely himself! 0

Posted on February 05, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger is not too worried that the Arsenal winger Theo Walcott, but thinks that he is still a few weeks away from being able to contribute fully to the squad.

Walcott has only played in one and a half games in the last few months due to his various injuries, and Wenger realises that his full recovery is still some way away from being realised.

“I am not worried about Walcott,” Wenger told the club’s official website, www.arsenal.com.

“What you can’t expect from Walcott at the moment is what he cannot give you.

Bolton v Arsenal team news – Walcott and Denilson still missing 3

Posted on January 16, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger is extremely happy that his captain Cesc Fabregas is ready to return to the Arsenal team to face Bolton tomorrow, and the French manager has also said that Gael Clichy will be rejoining the team.

“Cesc is back in the squad for Sunday and Gael is back as well. He will be minimum on the bench.” said Wenger.

“It’s good to have him. With Gael we were uncertain for a while how long he would be out whereas Cesc we knew was short-term.”

But the ever-injured Theo Walcott is not ready to make yet another comeback, but Wener expects him back soon. (Yeah right!)
