Have Arsenal made bid of £30m for Cavani? 150

Arsenal rumoured to have bid big for a player by Twig

According to rumours on Twitter, Arsenal have reportedly bid 30 million pounds for a player today. The story originated from the trusty GeofArsenal who has got some insider information on Arsenal correct in the past. Wenger has consistently said he would bid that much if he found the right player. His comments after the Swansea game show that Arsenal is indeed looking but that he would not mention names.

So which player could it be? Wenger notoriously bids a bit less than the parent club think the player is worth. In that light, if the rumour is true, it is quite possible that the player in question could be Falcao or Cavani who could easily cost more than the 30 million pounds reportedly offered.

New Arsenal striker or elaborate hoax? 39

Posted on December 10, 2012 by Bob

With the January transfer window looming, Arsenal are becoming linked with lots of players. The poor start to the season for the Gunners, and the statement by Ivan Gazidis that there was money available to Arsene Wenger means that speculation is rife about who will be coming to the Emirates in January. Rumours on Twitter this weekend said that Arsenal had agreed a deal with a young French striker to join from Lyon in January, but there is more than a slight whiff of rodent to the whole story.

Wilshere in Arsenal squad but will he play? 9

Posted on October 20, 2012 by Bob

Arsene Wenger gave a press conference yesterday and spoke about Jack Wilshere and his recovery from injury. He wanted to keep Arsenal and England fans from expecting too much too soon and revealed that he was happy with Jack’s progress but thought that he needed more time.

“He needs one more game, maybe Monday night with the reserves, then he should be back.”

If Wenger was trying to pull a surprise against Norwich or take the pressure off Wilshere, then he was soon to be disappointed. Wilshere’s agent was on Twitter not long after this, telling the world that Wenger’s statement was not entirely honest.

Arsenal left back Gibbs out of England squad with thigh problem 21

Posted on October 08, 2012 by Bob

Most Arsenal fans will be relieved that Kieran Gibbs will not be joining the England squad this week, as long as he is ready to play for the Gunners when they return to Premier league action against Norwich at Carrow Road on October 20th. The 23-year old must be cursing his luck, however, because he was in with a real chance of playing after the Ashley Cole and Twitter affair.

Arsene Wenger announced on Saturday that Gibbs had a thigh injury just above the knee and the manager did not think he would be available to play against San Marino or Poland. It has been confirmed today by medical staff but there is no mention of the specific problem or of how long Gibbs will be out of action for.

Twitter trouble for Arsenal youngster 38

Emmanuel Frimpong could be in deep doo-doo after getting involved with a Tottenham fan on his Twitter page. Frimpong responded to an abusive message with “Scum Yid.” Following the racism case involving John Terry and Anton Ferdinand and the Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole “choc ice” reference, Frimpong could not have picked a worse time.

There is a good chance that the football authorities will take the matter further, and Arsenal may come under pressure to discipline the young midfielder themselves. The 20-year old from Ghana cannot seem to get a break, having suffered cruciate ligament damages twice already during his fledgling career.

The whole of the Twitter universe exploded and everyone was in a massive state of shock at the news.

Gourcuff in latest link to Arsenal – Should we buy him? 122

Gourcuff will be leaving Lyon this summer. by KJ

Recent reports suggest that Lyon have transfer listed the out of favour Yoann Gourcuff. Twitter has exploded with the news and there are suggestions that Arsenal could be in for the French midfielder.

Wenger has been a known long-term admirer of Gourcuff and would definitely look into bringing him to the Emirates. However, would that be in the best interest of Arsenal in the long term?

In simple terms, yes. Bringing in another midfielder would just add that extra depth to the team. Gourcuff was once a very highly rated attacking midfielder and only because of long term injuries, has he fallen out with both Lyon and the French national team.

Frimpong still joking despite long-term injury worry 15

Posted on February 05, 2012 by admin

The Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong spent the whole of last season on the sidelines after damaging his cruciate ligament in pre-season, but he has come back strongly this year and was sent on loan to Wolves to give him some extended first-team action.

But disaster struck yesterday when he was stretchered off halfway theough the first half of Wolves 2-1 win at QPR and Arsenal and Wolves will both be waiting expectantly for news of the scan on his knee in the hope that he won’t be out for the rest of the season.

Wenger – Don’t be bitter when you Twitter, Jack! 1

Posted on February 12, 2011 by admin

Jack Wilshere loves his little pranks and playing jokes on his team-mates with Twitter, but Arsene Wenger thinks that the young midfielder overstepped the mark last weekend when he citicized the referee, Phil Dowd, after the loss to Newcastle.

Wenger doesn’t think his players should stop Tweeting altogether, but thinks they should think more carefully about what they say in public.

“I don’t believe you can stop the players using it because everyone has the freedom to press his point,” Wenger said yesterday. “You want it to be intelligent in a good way, in a positive way. The players can get closer to the fans and that is one of the positive aspects of it.”

Wenger – Tonights the night! 25

Posted on December 13, 2010 by admin

Arsene Wenger has called on his team to prove that they are bona fide contenders for the Premiership title at Old Trafford tonight, and to strike the first big psychological blow of the season by inflicting the first defeat of the season on Man Utd.

He said: “We have built a team and slowly come up there. Now we have an opportunity to show we are ready for the title.

“It’s a big game for us. We know we have to convince people we can do well in the big games. We know as well, looking at the championship, it’s an important place to win points.
