Arsenal 4-2 Athletic Club de Bilbao by DH

Arsenal ensured their position in the knockout stages of the NextGen Series after an impressive 4-2 victory over highly-rated Athletic Bilbao at Underhill.

Zak Ansah, Jon Toral and Isaac Hayden all scored in quick succession in the second half to see off the Spaniards in an enthralling clash.

Arsenal took the lead after nine minutes; a well-worked move was finished off by a Sead Hajrovic header.

Bilbao responded instantly, a clumsy challenge in the box from Hayden gave the referee no option but to point to the spot after he brought down Gorka Santamaria.

Barnet v Arsenal – “The most important thing is no injuries” 9

Posted on July 16, 2010 by admin

Arsenal begin their pre-season campaign away at Barnet tomorrow in their regular July meeting at Underhill, and the Barnet coach Mark Stimson believes that it could be a close game, but the most important thing is that neither side sustain any injuries ahead of the new season.

“The main thing is no injuries, that is the biggest thing in pre-season and I’m sure it is the same for Arsenal,” said Stimson.

“It is a friendly and, although all games are competitive, my boys will certainly be told not to go out in any way, shape or form and try and put a player out for any period of time. We really do appreciate clubs like Arsenal coming to us and playing us in pre-season friendlies and we don’t want to build a bad relationship with a badly-timed tackle or something like that.
