Arsenal are definitely in the market for a new striker this January, and Arsene Wenger is known to like a bargain, but the Chilean international, Eduardo Vargas, will hardly set Arsenal fan’s pulses racing if he is the man who comes to the Emirates to boost our goal threat. THe 23-year old has not had the impact expected since he signed for Napoli a year ago. The Serie A side have offered to loan him to the Gunners in an attempt to get his form and career back on track, but do we really want that sort of player? .......Read the full article here

Most Arsenal fans find it very difficult to believe that Arsene Wenger is about to almost double his record transfer fee with a £30 million bid for the Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani, from Napoli, especially when you hear that the player signed a new five year contract with the Italian club this summer, and the price is likely to be closer to £40 million.
Arsenal did have their chief scout at the game, apparently, so who might he have been looking at, I wonder. Arsenal need another left back, defensive midfielder, striker and, possibly, a replacement for Walcott if he does not renew his contract. .......Read the full article here

It is being reported that Fiorentina are ready to cash in on Arsenal and Liverpool target Juan Manuel Vargas in the January transfer window.
The 28-year-old is a versatile player who can play at left back, on the wing, or in the midfield in both offensive and defensive positions. His Fiorentina teammate Alberto Gilardino has stated that Vargas is the best crosser he has ever played with. .......Read the full article here

It will be interesting to see how much effect the African Cup of Nations has on the Premiership in January, but Arsenal are certain to lose Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh from their attacking options.
With this in mind, todays Metro reports that Arsenal intend to return to Fiorentina with a £12m bid for the Peruvian left-sided player Juan Manuel Vargas.
The report says that Wenger tried to buy Vargas during the summer, but Fiorentina refused to let him go and Arsenal instead went on to buy Andre Santos, who can play left-back or left-wing.
