Vela not keen on Arsenal return-Does it matter? 56

Posted on March 27, 2013 by Bob

Arsenal have got the option to buy back Carlos Vela for the same amount, £4 million, that Real Sociedad paid for him last summer, but the Mexican striker seems distinctly unimpressed with the idea. He may not have a lot of choice in the matter, but I cannot see the point in bringing him back to the Emirates Stadium if he really does not want to come.

Vela spent time on loan with two other clubs in Spain before his loan spell at Sociedad convinced them to make the move permanent. The 24-year old has certainly flourished there, getting his best figures of 12 goals and eight assists last season. He has already repeated those figures this time, which makes him the club’s top scorer.

Should Arsenal exercise the option to buy Vela back? 54

Arsene Wenger will be looking for at least one striker to add to the Arsenal squad this summer, although with the departure of Bendtner and Chamakh a possibility it could well be more than one. Wenger should have a decent amount of money to spend and the Arsenal fans will be expecting some big name quality such as Jovetic or David Villa, but it seems increasingly likely that the former Gunner Carlos Vela could be coming back to the Emirates.

Arsenal cannot let Campbell go the way of Vela! 66

Arsenal’s Joel Campbell set to remain in Spain? by AH

Joel Campbell might not be the player on all the fans minds right now and a large amount of Arsenal fans probably won’t even recognise the name, however much to your surprise he is one of the best strikers at Arsenal at the moment. The Costa Rican striker cannot currently play in England because of work permit issues and so Campbell has been working wonders for Spanish club Real Betis this season and has helped them drive into 7th place in La Liga. European football is a possibility for Betis next season and today Campbell has spoken out about the possibility of him remaining in Spain.

Arsenal transfer rumour- the Return of Vela?? 51

Posted on February 28, 2013 by Bob

It would be the strangest Arsenal transfer move for quite a while if one of the players to be signed in the summer was Carlos Vela. The 23-year old Mexican striker spent most of his time out on loan after signing for the Gunners back in 2005. Until Wenger finally let him go permanently to Real Sociedad last summer, Vela had played just 62 times for Arsenal, most of them being in cup competitions, scoring just 11 goals.

Arsenal rumours 10th Aug – Sahin, Capoue, Tello, Kouyate, Song, Vela and Ki Sung-Yeung 79

Posted on August 10, 2012 by admin

I refuse to mention Robin Van Persie in today’s list of Arsenal transfer rumours because I have frankly had it up to here with the never-ending saga of our traitorous captain. So, swiftly moving on, it seems that Alex Song is the man that Barcelona want above of Van Persie and Gerard Piquet is the latest to join the list of Barca stars to ‘happen to mention’ that Song would be a good addition to the side. But he even goes as far as to say that ‘ looks like it could happen’, which seems to be going a bit far to me…….

Arsenal sell striker but retain option to buy him back 27

Carlos Vela has agreed to join Real Sociedad on a 3 year deal from Arsenal FC by AH

The Mexican striker will link up with his team mates in the coming days as he returns to the Spanish club that he spent last season on loan to.

The fee is set at £4.2 million with a £1.5 million add-on fee based of performance related actions. Arsenal also included two clauses in Vela’s permanent transfer to Real Sociedad. A 30% sell on fee was included in the deal, whilst Arsenal also have the option to re-sign Vela in the next two years for £5.5 million.

Arsenal finally start clearing the deadwood 40

Carlos Vela finally leaves Arsenal. The Exodus is on the horizon. by KJ

Finally, Arsenal have shifted their first “deadwood” player of the summer. Carlos Vela was a youngster who promised so much to the Arsenal faithful. He was and actually still is an extremely talented individual who unfortunately, failed to adapt to the Premier League.

The statement from Arsenal is below:

Arsenal Football Club has announced that striker Carlos Vela is in San Sebastian this evening for final discussions about a permanent move to Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad.

Arsenal Rumours July 16th – Walcott, Vela, Niang, Dzeko and Ganso 91

Posted on July 16, 2012 by admin

There is a deafening lack of information coming from the club about Theo Walcott signing a new contract with Arsenal this summer, and this seems to indicate that he will also be moving along with Robin Van Persie. This has led to a spate of rumours about his possible destination with both Liverpool and Chelsea said to be interested.

I can’t see him going to Liverpool if he is “in search of trophies”, but Chelsea would be a real possibility given that Theo wouldn’t even have to move house, but after securing Eden Hazard I doubt that the Blues would have space to make him a regular first team player. Personally I think he will be persuaded to re-sign by Wenger if they increase the wages on offer.

Arsenal deadwood to stay or go? 37

Posted on July 10, 2012 by admin

Okay do you want the bad news or the good news? Fiorentina have crushed Gooners’ hopes by declaring that they are NOT about to take Marouane Chamakh off our hands. We were being told yesterday that the deal was practically done, but it seems that the old problem of wages has reared it’s ugly head.

Daniel Prade, director of football at the Italian club, says “we have not made one (an offer) because he earns 3 million euros.” Arsene Wenger was reported to have confirmed an offer from Fiorentina earlier this week so I can only think that the striker has scuppered the deal by refusing to accept any drop in wages, despite the probability that he will not play for Arsenal this season.

Five Strikers Arsenal Must Sell This Summer 48

Fringe players departing Arsenal P2 by KJ

I’m now going to discuss the players that Arsenal will look to get rid of but it wouldn’t be end of the world if they were still Gunners in September.

Bendtner: The Dane actually had a very decent Euros this summer. He scored two goals against a Portugal who has an extremely competent defence as well as making an assist for Krohn-Dehli against Germany. It would’ve definitely provided some food for thought for Wenger. However, with Wenger almost confirming that Giroud is on his way to the Emirates, I just can’t see the Dane making it at all at Arsenal. Not only will he be behind Van Persie, but now with the new signings, he will most definitely be behind Giroud and Podolski. There really is no way he’ll ever start for Arsenal again. He’s just not good enough. Therefore, I can see him being sold as he clearly doesn’t want to stay with us but, I wouldn’t be upset if he stayed.

Arsenal making it difficult for Sociedad to buy Carlos Vela 99

Posted on June 20, 2012 by admin

It seems that Arsene Wenger and Carlos Vela have never seen eye to eye since the Mexican international first arrived at Arsenal, and the French manager seemed to leave him out in the cold even when the Gunners were desperate for back up attackers.

Does anyone remember the time Vela left his passport at ome when Arsenal were going to play an away game in the Champions League? I don’t suppose that helped relations with his manager….

So after an abortive loan period at West Brom in the Premiership, Wenger wanted Vela to go on loan to another British club but Vela and his agent forced a move instead to Spain where he thought his style of play would be more effective and it seems he was correct!

Arsenal transfer rumours May 22nd – Chamakh, Ljajic, Fabianski, Vela and Arshavin 81

Posted on May 22, 2012 by admin

The Arsenal manager has been speaking about a possible departure in the summer for out of form striker Marouane Chamakh, as the Morocco international has failed to impress in his time at Arsenal.

Fiorentina is now reportedly interested in the services of Chamakh, and are willing to send Adam Ljajic the other way plus cash in order to secure Chamakh’s signature.

Ljajic wants to leave the Italian club following the shocking incident when former coach Delio Rossi attacked him and started hitting him during a Serie A match.
