Steve Bould seems to be in charge of Arsenal at the minute, at least when it comes to facing the media. Hopefully Arsene Wenger is off somewhere sorting out a big name signing, but I may be slightly optimistic. Anyway, Bould has taken the chance to lavish praise on one of Arsenal’s most maligned players of the season, Aaron Ramsey.

Bould was known for being a tough competitor with a strong character during his 11 seasons playing for the Gunners, and he can see the same qualities in Ramsey. The Welshman has certainly not had it easy in his fledgling career, but the assistant manager believes he has now proved himself through his effort and ability. Arsenal are struggling for consistency in midfield this season since Abou Diaby’s newest injury, with Mikel Arteta being moved into the DM position to try and instil a little bit of stability but it is thought that a new Defensive Midfielder is a priority for Wenger in the January transfer window.

One such player being linked with the Gunners right now is the former Arsenal fan favourite Mathieu Flamini, who left the Emirates under a cloud four years ago after refusing to sign a new contract. Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa remains a top target for Arsenal and AW as we look to strengthen our defense. It is being reported today that the versatile Celtic defender/midfielder Victor Wanyama is the subject of a battle between the two Premiership giants Arsenal and Manchester United. The Kenyan international can play in virtually any defensive position which would make him a positive addition to any side in the Premiership.

Sakho Back On Arsenal’s Radar?

It’s obvious to every Arsenal fan that although it’s great that we are spending and signing some top class players in attack, our defence is the same as it was last season and with 49 league goals conceded, it is clear that something needs improving.

One defender that has been linked to Arsenal a lot this year is Mamadou Sakho and the Frenchman is certainly a player of our calibre. He has a slight attitude problem at times however his performances make him stand out in a team. The excellent Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey has so far refused to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage, and with a brilliant record of 22 goals for the mid-table club this season, is certain to be in demand if he wants to move to a bigger club.

A few years ago the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that he had approached Chelsea about the availability of their super-sub Ivorian striker Salamon Kalou, and now it seems that the Frenchman has the possibility of bringing Kalou to the Emirates on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Swiss defender Johann Djourou must realise that he is now third-choice centre-back behind Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny right now, and will drop further behind when Thomas Vermaelen returns to full fitness again, so he has no problems with playing out of his normal postion as long as he gets a game!

The Japanese genius Ryo Miyaichi may only have a handful of senior competitive games under his belt in Europe, but Arsene Wenger believes that he can have a “big impact” on Arsenal’s push for the Premiership title this season.

The Gunners have secured a UK work permit for the 18 year-old, but Wenger reveals that Miyaichi still had to go back to Japan to sort out his exit visa before being available to light up the Arsenal attack, and he can play in just about any position according to Wenger.
