Vieira to Chelsea - No way!

Vieira to Chelsea - No way!

There is a very strange rumour going around that Patrick Vieira is being considered by Carlo Ancelotti as cover during the African Nations Cup. Caughtoffside reported it like this.

Inter Milan midfielder Patrick Vieira could finally be set to seal his return to London, but surprisingly with Chelsea, according to reports.

The 33-year-old Frenchman – who made more than 250 league appearances and won three Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time at Arsenal – was linked with a return to Arsene Wenger’s side along with Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.

Could Vieira be coming back?

Could Vieira be coming back?

According to reports this morning, the Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira is going to come back to rejoin Arsene Wenger in January on an 18-month contract.

The News of The World says that Wenger tried to get Vieira from Inter Milan right at the end of the transfer window, but they couldn’t get the £750,000 fee wired over in time to complete the deal.

They also say that Vieira even completed a medical at Arsenal, and that Wenger has offered him £70,000 a week to rejoin the club.

Will Vieira ever play for France again?

Will Vieira ever play for France again?

The France manager Raymond Domenech has named his 24-man squad to face the Faroe Islands and Austria, and there are four Arsenal players named in his selection.

Gallas, Clichy and Sagna should line up at the back alongside Man Utd’s Patrice Evra, and Diaby is expected to be in midfield, but he won’t be playing with the Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, who has been left out of the squad yet again.

Domenech said about Vieira: “I talked to him over the phone and we agreed that he must play more, he knows that,”

So the last day of the transfer window is upon us, and the press are getting desperate to find players to link with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

They have been pushing the Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh all summer, but has Wenger finally taken the bait. We shall know for sure by midnight tonight.

Chamakh gave us a little teaser last night by saying “Yes, indeed, my representatives were in London. Maybe the offer has come too late.

I am focused on Bordeaux, but you never know what can happen. Let us say there is a 90 per cent chance that I will stay and a 10% chance that I will leave.”

The Fabregas to Barcelona saga goes on, with the Barca president Joan Laporta basically saying that his club will never give up on trying to sign the Arsenal star midfielder.

“I apologise if I bothered Mr Wenger, because I respect him very highly and the job he is doing,” said Laporta.

“But he knows perfectly that the case of Cesc Fabregas is special. He is a Catalan player from our youth team and it is not a secret that we love this player.”

The Sunday papers have usually have a few rumours worth chuckling at, and they haven’t let us down today. The Patrick Vieira saga looked over when the Frenchman publicly stated that he was going to stay at Inter for one more year, after he had a little chat with Jose Mourinho. But the Mirror reports Wenger as saying that he could still make a move for him.

He is quoted as saying: “I’m not yet moving for him. But until 31st August, it’s possible.”

Wenger did say that he was looking for one more defensive player, so perhaps he is holding Vieira in reserve if all his other targets fall through?

Arsenal rumours 12th Aug – Vieira, Chamakh, Subotic, Hangeland and Krul 0

Todays papers are busy with speculation about Arsenal for a change. Could it be because Wenger has openly said that he is unlikely to buy anyone?

The Fulham defender Brede Hangeland is yet again linked, but FGS we all KNOW that Wenger hasn’t spoken to Fulham. Wenger said so, Hodgson said so, and now the giant Norwegian is cup-tied for Europe anyway, so what would be the point? It’s about time the Press gave this one a rest.

Craziest Arsenal headline! It certainly made me laugh… 0

You get used to some ridiculous stories in the summer, but this one takes the biscuit.

Arsene Wenger promises to spend, spend, spend and draws up Arsenal hit list (Daily Mirror)
The Gunners boss has lost Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure after selling the pair to Manchester City for £36million, and has only signed Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen this summer. But further captures are promised.

Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh could be on his way for £6m, as could St Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi (£6m) and Roma hitman Mirko Vucinic (£12m). Then of course there’s the prospect of landing Gunners legend Patrick Vieira on a free.

Wenger to make some more money from Man City- but still won't spend! 1

It now looks certain that Arsenal are to keep their record of taking Man City’s money (and not spending it!). Now that City have upped their bid for Everton’s Joleon Lescott to meet David Moyes valuation of £20m, Moyes has decided that he wants Phillipe Senderos to replace him.

This seems like a strange move, especially as Senderos said that he didn’t want to play in England as the Italian game suited him more.

But i’m sure Wenger will be pleased to get rid of a player that doesn’t really want to play at the Emirates, and its all thanks to Mark Hughes!

Sick-note injured again! 1

Can you believe the never-ending saga of Thomas Rosicky is still not over. He has had more comebacks announced that Frank Sinatra and Elvis put together!

He picked up another injury in his first game back, against Barnet, and is now not expected to play again until after the season begins. The Emirates Cup, which is usually the best time for Wenger to assess his strongest team ahead of the new season, will now be played without him.

Arsenal have described the injury as a “minor problem”, but considering Rosicky has been out for 18 months, and is now out for at least another three weeks, no additional problem could be called minor.
