Wenger gives Szczesny Number One today and says he is “not really” interested in Schwarzer! 12

The goalkeeping dilemma at Arsenal took a new twist today, as Arsene Wenger gave Wojcneich Szczesny the Number One jersey against Barnet, but only played him for the last 22 minutes.

Manuel Almunia was out “injured” yet again, and Lukasz Fabianski played the first 45 minutes wearing number 21, and the second half saw Vito Mannone play the first 22 minutes wearing 24, and then Szczesny came on until the end.

The young Polish keeper Wojciech Szczesny has been impressing everyone this season while out on loan at Brentford, and although Bees manager Andy Scott would love him to return next season, it seems that Arsenal have decided to keep him at the Emirates.

Scott said: “We’ve been looking at goalkeepers for a while as we’ve known Wojciech will be going back, and it will be difficult finding someone of a similar standard.”

With all the furore surrounding the performances of both Manuel Almunia and Lukasz Fabianski this season, could Wenger have already lined up Szczesny to be given a chance to prove himself in the first team?

Arsenal transfer gossip Jan 26th – Huntelaar, Jan Mucha, Ryan Babel and Arsene Wenger! 15

Posted on January 26, 2010 by admin

The biggest Arsenal transfer rumour this morning comes from the Daily Star, who reckon that the Gunners are still trying to persuade AC Milan to allow Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to come to the Emirates for the rest of the season, as he is struggling to get a game at the San Siro.

They think that Arsenal’s biggest rivals for the Dutchman are Tottenham, and the main stumbling block to the move is the £65,000 a week wages that Huntelaar currently commands in Italy, and the 26 year-old will have to lower his demands if he wants to move to London. Personally, after listening to Wenger’s thoughts on bringing in a striker, I doubt that he will go for this one.
