Has Zaha snubbed Man United for Arsenal? 55

Posted on January 11, 2013 by Bob

The papers have been full of stories about the Arsenal transfer target and Gunners fan, Wilfried Zaha. Most reports have suggested that Manchester United had agreed a transfer fee with Crystal Palace and personal terms with the 20-year old winger. This was not good news for Arsenal fans who thought that we would have the advantage in negotiations because of Zaha’s allegiance to the club.

Well it appears that may still be true, afetr Alex Ferguson poured cold water on claims that the England international was on his way to Old Trafford. United were hoping to tie up the promising young player by allowing Palace to keep him for the rest of the season. His current manager, Ian Holloway, wanted the deal sorted out so Zaha could concentrate on playing football, but Arsenal may have let the player that they still want him in the summer, because the deal has floundered.

Arsenal consider loan offer for Jenkinson 40

Carl Jenkinson is a lifelong Arsenal fan and must have been over the moon to sign a long term contract with the Gunners recently. His performances earlier in the season, before Bacary Sagna recovered from his injury lay off from a broken leg, gained plaudits from Arsenal fans and football journalists alike. It is hardly a shock, then, that Arsene Wenger is reluctant to grant a request from Crystal Palace to take the 20-year old right back on loan for the rest of the season.

Are Man United about to sign Arsenal target Zaha? 32

Arsenal may have missed out on another of their transfer targets. There are reports that Manchester United are about to agree terms with Crystal Palace over the transfer of their winger Wilfried Zaha. Tottenham seem to have accepted defeat in their challenge for the England international, and the silence from Arsenal has been deafening, leaving the way clear for Alex Ferguson to complete the signing.

Have Arsenal abandoned chase for Zaha? 66

Posted on January 08, 2013 by Bob

There are two teams who are fighting over the signature of the powerful young winger, Wilfried Zaha, and Arsenal are not one of them, apparently. It had previously been a two horse race between the Gunners and Manchester United, but now Tottenham are the team hoping to seal the deal with Crystal Palace this month, if the report in the Daily Mail is correct.

Our North London rivals are thought to be willing to sign the player but allow him to remain at Selhurst Park for the rest of the season. This is ideal for the championship club, because he has become distracted by the uncertainty over his future and Palace need him for their push to the Premier league.

Arsenal risk losing Zaha to Man United 135

Arsenal were in pole position to sign Wilfried Zaha from Crystal Palace in January, but the imminent resolution of the contract extension with Theo Walcott means that we are not so desperate for the young winger. Palace have stated that they want to keep him for the season, but are resigned to losing him in the summer, and this puts Manchester United in a good position to seal the deal and snatch a major target from under Arsenal’s nose.

Is Arsenal going to take a risk on Diaby yet again? 85

Will Wenger repeat the same mistake again? by Twig

When Wenger sold Song in the summer, many gunners thought he would move for a replacement defensive midfielder. However, he didn’t and it seemed he made a gamble that Diaby could manage to remain fit and anchor the Arsenal midfield.

Gunners heaved a sigh of relief after every game that Diaby played and for once it seemed that Diaby had finally put his injury woes behind him. Indeed, he put in a couple of man of the match appearances, until, as expected, Diaby hobbled off with an injury in the game against Chelsea. Wenger was warned, but he refused to listen!

Arsenal and Walcott’s agent could seal deal today 54

Posted on January 02, 2013 by Bob

Representatives of the 23-year old England international, Theo Walcott, will meet with officials from Arsenal today in an attempt to finally agree terms over a new long term contract for the winger who is becoming a striker. It is believed that Arsenal have acceded to his requirements, or at least compromised on their stance enough to persuade the speedy star to sign a new deal.

It would be great for everyone connected with Arsenal if we could finally put all the uncertainty behind us and announce that Walcott will be a Gunner for years to come. That would leave Wenger free to concentrate on bringing in some quality additions to the Arsenal squad during this transfer window.

Has Zaha agreed to join Arsenal? 56

Posted on December 31, 2012 by Bob

Wilfried Zaha is an Arsenal fan, and will soon be an Arsenal player, apparently. There are rumours that an agreement has been made between Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Zaha about his transfer to the Gunners in January, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Palace rejected a bid of around £8 million from Manchester United, according to the Mail. With Alex Ferguson stepping up his pursuit of Christiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid, United are unlikely to pursue the matter further, leaving just Tottenham challenging Arsenal for the 20-year old. Given that he supports Arsenal and that he wants to play in the Champions league, there is no way he is going to choose Spurs over us.

Should Arsenal pay Walcott what he wants or not? 61

Walcott’s Contract Issue is mostly about Money By Twig

Walcott had recently claimed that his contract extension issue is tied to the manager trying him in a striker’s position. Wenger had recently began acceding to this request by playing Walcott as a striker for two consecutive games. He also played him as a striker in the last few minutes against Spurs.

If that is the major reason why Walcott is refusing to sign, then he would probably have signed by now, since the manager is beginning to show faith in him as a striker. However he hasn’t and the player laughably claims that that ‘these things take time’. No, they don’t necessarily have to Theo: the quartet of Ramsey, Gibbs, Wilshere and the Ox only recently signed contract extensions – and without much drama.

Arsenal risk losing Zaha to Man United 25

Posted on December 22, 2012 by Bob

Wilfried Zaha is an Arsenal fan, and Arsene Wenger is a Wilfried Zaha fan. Add to that the fact (we hope) that the Gunners are set to end the penny pinching ways of recent years and compete with the bigger clubs when it comes to transfer fees and wages, we might have thought it was simply a matter of time before Zaha was an Arsenal player.

Alex Ferguson and Manchester United have different ideas, however, and are set to provide a stern challenge to Arsenal for the 20-year old Crystal Palace and England star. United are believed to be willing to agree a deal with Palace that allows them to keep the winger until the summer, whereas Wenger was hoping to prise him from Ian Holloway’s side in January.

Man United want to hijack Arsenal transfer of Zaha! 57

Posted on December 09, 2012 by Bob

Wilfried Zaha is an Arsenal fan and was soon going to be an Arsenal player if newspaper reports are true. The Crystal Palace manager, Ian Holloway, complained again this week about Arsene Wenger. Holloway is upset about what he percieves as Wenger’s attempts to destabilise the young winger, even though Wenger has done nothing but answer a question posed by a journalist.

Palace have issued denials that Zaha will leave, but they have sounded increasingly desperate, suggesting that they knew they were going to lose the England international. Now it seems that Alex Ferguson has stuck his oar in and will offer Palace the opportunity to keep Zaha for the season if they agree to sell him to United.

Arsenal will sign Zaha in January! 62

Posted on December 07, 2012 by Bob

Despite many statements by the Crystal Palace owners and manager stating otherwise, Arsenal are confident that they will be able to make Wilfried Zaha an Arsenal player. Not only that, they think that the deal might be done in the January transfer window rather than having to wait until next summer.

The 20-year old England international, who was born in the Ivory Coast, has made up his mind that he wants to come to the Emirates, apparently. The wing sensation is a long time fan of Arsenal, so it will be a dream move for him. It is not just for sentimental reasons that Zaha wants to make the journey from South to North London. In Arsene Wenger, he knows he will have a manager with a proven track record of giving opportunities to, and getting the best out of, young players.
