Taylor: Swansea are confident ahead of Arsenal clash (and don’t believe the rumours!)
Swansea may have only been promoted to the Premiership this summer but with half the season gone they are comfortably in mid-table and are set to host Arsenal next weekend
Their success this season is mostly due to the excellent form at home in the Liberty Stadium, where they have lost just once in their ten home League games (and that was a narrow defeat by Manchester United!)
The Swans have only lost one of their last seven games, and their talented defender Neil Taylor (who has been linked to a move to Arsenal) believes that Swansea have no reason to fear anybody at home.
He said: “I think it’s about time we won a game against one of the top teams,”
“It’s another big test for a team coming to the Liberty.
“We’re full of confidence and we’ll see how it goes.
“I don’t see why we can’t get a result. I think when we played them at the Emirates Stadium we definitely should have got a result against them there.
“It was a freak goal we lost to on the day.
“Only Manchester United have come here and won this season and even they had a tough afternoon.
“Hopefully, if we can give a good account of ourselves and play with the confidence we have, we’ll give them a tough day.”
Arsenal themselves have only won five of their ten away games, and will be aware that Swansea gave them a hard game at the Emirates earlier in the season, (Andrei Arshavin scored the only goal of the game – and his sole goal this season – in the 1-0 win).
With Arsenal’s defensive crisis Wenger will have to make sure his team is totally focused to pass this difficult test before the crucial home game against Man Utd.
Taylor was obviously also asked about the transfer rumours linking him with a move to Arsenal, but he was quick to deny any contact with the visiting team. He said: “From what I’ve read, speculation is all it is.”
“I haven’t seen anything else so it’s just one of those where I get on with my football. I’m flattered by the interest from Arsenal. I’m enjoying my football at Swansea but it’s a great thing to hear.”
There is no doubt that Arsenal could do with Taylor in the team right now, but Wenger has made it quite clear he won’t be buying any more defenders. Perhaps Swansea will let us have him on loan????

On paper Swansea don’t look threatening but they have some players in good form like Sinclair, Graham and Taylor. We need to score first to put the pressure on other wise we’ll have problems as their home form suggests.
I actually predicted that they will do best out of the 3 recently promoted. It’s a game that we need to win and should win. Lets hope RVP has had a good holiday and his batteries are recharged. Knowing Henry is a capable backup is exciting news. I hope we see him play against Swansea.

I’m a little bit concerned that if Henry continues to steal the limelight that RVP may feel threatened? What if Song and Walcott (our 2 players with most assists) start preferring Henry for a pass? It’ll be a pity if Henry’s return affects RVP’s chances of being top scorer now that Wengie wants to throw both players in together. Hopefully, this spurs (no pun intended!) RVP on to prove that he still remains the main man at arsenal despite titi’s arrival.

we not gonna do well with ramsey and arteta in the middle, they just not creative or mobile enough. don’t get me wrong but ramsey will be good>future.

Taylor.. Let me introduce u 2 d number 12 jersey, 15 secs on d ball wit u in front of ur goal area, and damn sure u’d b readin d name off his jersey wen he’s celebrating his goal.. Defensiv problems? Yes, bt am sure arsenal can hold their own @ d back Hopefully.. ‘d prefer ox to theo n rambo shoulp up his game.. Arshavin was a bit unlucky in front of goal yestaday tho should he put up diz performance against swanzea, we’d com out top..

I dont blame them having such confidence since the last game arshavin score very lucky goal…with injuries of our RB and LB we will have problems to control dyer and sinclair..lets hope we will dominate ball possesion and king HENRY & RVP will both score

draw is a likely result. Swansea are a good side and have real tricky wingers that are effective.2-2.

Swansea won’t be easy, they have a good home record and some good quick players and also just signed McEachran from Chelsea. I hope Ox gets another game and also thought Ramsey was outstanding last night, some of his footwork on the ball was magic. I think Arshavin will play again as he was a handful for the Leeds defenders and tried hard but his finishing was disappointing. We lost another good defender in Le Coq but Yannaris looked good as his replacement. Miquel played well too.
Oh and forgot to add someone called Henry was quite good

miquel realy impressed me again lastnite, he looks better everytime he plays. with verm coq santos and gibbs crocked pretty sure he gonna play against the swans.
i no these injuries are savage but on the plus side its giving the youngsters a chance. players like miquel, yennaris and coquilen look very good indeed and could realy add to this squad, and if it hadnt of been for injuries we would probably never of seen them play. miquel has definatley earned a start against the swans though!

I think Sawnsea is going to be hard but beatable. They are technical and so are we. I think its gonna be toe to toe but we gonna edge it. They have a good number of player not least the goalie but we are gonna win this one.

we cannot afford to lose this game. Last night was a poor game against Leeds, let’s admit. Not like they played brilliantly either. I agree with D.Bergkamp in that we are lacking creativity in the midfield. Ramsey and Arteta sorry to say just are not good enough. Arteta, too one paced, passes the ball here and there. Nothing spectacular, but consistent none the less. Ramsey has determination with occasional flashes of brilliance, but too often does he loose the ball. He also isn’t the quickest player on the pitch. I’d say if his ball control was amazing, he wouldn’t need speed, but unfortunately he lacks both. That is why we miss Wilshere terribly.
I would like to see Yennaris played RB as he looked quite solid last night, Djoure as a sub. Give Miquel another game against Swansea, he looks very promising, I just worry about his speed a bit. He seems a little sluggish but hopefully I’m wrong.
Would be extremely nice to see AOC play again as he was probably our best attacking player against Leeds. Also give Park a chance for crying out loud. And of course it would be awesome to see Henry again.
Good luck this month gunners. No complacency now, we need fight and determination the next couple of games, especially Manure coming up. Also, recover soon our injured soldiers.

@ Twig,
I don’t think Wenger will play them much together due to the formation he goes for and his blind faith in some of our poorer players. We can only dream.
