The “New Thierry Henry” is keen on Arsenal link
There is a new man on Arsene Wenger’s list of French striker’s that are keen to move to the Emirates. The St. Etienne hitman Emmanuel Riviere has been likened to the Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, and he would love to follow in his footsteps by joining the Gunners.
According to the Mail, Riviere has also been linked with Kenny Dalglish’s Liverpool, but it looks like he would prefer to go to The Emirates than Anfield. He said: “I am flattered to be linked with the clubs mentioned. I am a young player, so to be linked with Arsenal is fantastic for me.
“If Arsene Wenger is interested in you it means you have potential to be a very good player. People compare me to Thierry Henry, and that is a big compliment. If I can achieve half of his career I will be happy.”
Riviere has not exactly been prolific (but neither was Henry before he arrived at Arsenal) and has scored just eight goals in 35 appearances for St. Etienne, but is obviously talented and well thought of in France.
He has represented his country at every level from the U16s to the U21s and seems to be a typical Wenger type of signing. And he has a very flashy name!

Gervinho seems a likely transfer and so does this guy, as he is available and has made some good comments about Arsenal and may want to follow in Henry’s footsteps. But, I am not sure if Wenger will sign two strikers this season. I hope he does but, then would we have to many strikers? i.e. Van Persie, Riviere , Chamakh, Gervihno and Walcott.

s**t! You just reminded me that Chamakh is african too!!! I think that gervinho may have been brought in as a right winger to free up walcott to move into the middle. Meaning that there would be 4 strikers (if vela is sold), which is the same amount as we have now (but so much better!).

all I know is that Henry arrived from Juventus, a much bigger club than ST ettiene.
Hazard is 20 and has a much better record of goals and assist, why don’t we sign him instead??

sorry to randomly post another url there but i think it was a greatly written piece, was what i was thinking the whole time while watching the england spain u21 game and I bet i was not the only one. English players are not the only solution. We dont need cahil or other overly hyped clumsy fools (who are english so must be good). There are several english/epl players sensible to get and for appropriate value: Jagielka, parker, scott sinclair and kyle walker.
-Jagielka: will bring the puyol like essence that scares forwards and he is atleast decent with his feet.
-Parker+wilshere is very immense and will make our mid very tough to get through and at the same time very quick.
-Kyle walker has amazing speed and technique and he can cross. I will take him over sagna im sorry to say.
-Sinclair will be englands best forward for a while if he works with wenger. I have not seen such raw power and speed since egbanlahor. He is also very gifted with his feet. These english players would help bring arsenal to the top while at the same time not blocking the growth of the academy player.

Right now we need Experience not more ‘youthful talent’ we have spades of it in our Academy in the form of Afoebe Frimpong Henderson Lansbury etc etc
we need a player with a steady head someone who will organize our play and someone who will motivate the players we need Experience in all positions
he will be a good Van Persie replacement although i rather have a Dutchman succeed him

Wenger should try to be reasonable; 8 goals in 35 appearances is too poor for a STRIKER!With this type of record how can he cope in the premier league and champions league. Squillaci also had a poor appearance record in Sevilla and see how it affected the team badly. Wenger should sign experience not hopeful experience.
