Theo Walcott reveals what Wenger said at half-time against Villa
The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger must have made a classic half-time team talk this weekend to inspire the Gunners to come back from 2-0 against Aston Villa in the FA Cup.
After the game, Wenger was asked what he had said, but he replied that “What is said in the Dressing Room stays in the Dressing Room”
But yesterday Theo Walcott reveals what he said, and it didn’t involve tactics! He said: “He was very clear with his messages because obviously we really wanted to win the game. It was disappointing to go into half time 2-0 down when we probably didn’t deserve to be, but credit to Aston Villa,”
“He just believed in us; we all had to believe in each other in the second half. It just shows the number of characters we have got in that dressing room. We worked hard – there are a few people who can’t even walk in there!”
Oops if they can’t even walk after that game, are they going to be fully recovered to face Bolton on Wednesday?

Quality team effort (even though Theo really should have played it back to the Ox when he was parallel to the by line but as luck had it, he scored.) i suspect wenger will tweak his line up a bit for Bolton, can’t wait for wednesday! Gunners for life

Apart from Chelsea away I can’t think of one time we’ve won comfortably.
2 Penalties and a Theo reflection is not how you should be beating Villa at home.

@tommy:we got 2 penalties bcoz we played our game..dont just write off the spirit the team has shown dude…who knows we would have scored if those aston villa players havnt fouled us..and even we got descent chances to score but given gave everything and stopped, but arsenal came back in second half where given cudnt do anything..so dont just belittle those penalties wegot it because we played and pressurized them..COYG..

Have you seen Pat Rice? all the games he has taken over we have 90% of the games with him winning. He likes to shout and motivate, even Chesney has said he wasn’t used to the shouting.
Is it that Wenger doesn’t motivate?
I think we need a loud manager.
Anyways, glad for the win, UP THE GUNNERS

You should replicate the display to other games as well, sometimes the team as been quite lethargic and mediocre at best.

Positive talks can’t always get us over the line in this EPL; we need to add a little bit more quality. That’s all I am asking for. Yes the boys put in a solid shift on Sunday and I for one applauded till I was blue in the face; that said, a little bit more quality will not go amiss with the fans to push us into 4th spot or even higher as I believe we can catch Spurs/Sores! Up the gooners!!

This is all nonsense. We were lucky in all three goals let’s be frank. This business of ‘the manager believes in us’ has cost us trophies for 7 years. Because of Wenger believing in players we still have a lot of deadwood in that squad including Walcott himself. Villa are a poor side end of. If it was another team we wouldn’t have won that match. Why is there no change of tactics? Even Barcelona change their tactics. THE REAL SECRET WAS THEY WERE BOOED OFF THE PITCH.

@luwegunner I’m sure the booing did have a psychological effect on the players. Perhaps it did make them play their hearts out second half. But really you cannot say our goals were lucky, because in order to get penalties our players were first of all in the box and close to scoring. We absolutely dominated second half and came at them like no ones business. The goal walcott scored, I mean he had a shot which the keeper deflected. It was a shot on goal that could have gone in. Yes it was a lucky deflection, but the fact that we kept at them the whole of the second half meant that we had to score sooner or later. It wasn’t like we got 3 lucky counter attacks and happened to score off all of them and that was it. We happened to have plenty plenty chances. So the odds of us scoring were inevitable. You cannot tell me two penalties is luck.

What a fickle lot of supporters some Arsenal fans are no wonder the Scum are doing better then us.. You nothing but ungrateful Arsene has been and will always be our best manager. We have never been out of the top 4 since he arrived. Always been in the Champions league. Name me a a manager who could step in his shoes.
He has a massive passion for Arsenal he has always shown that who do half of you think you are for questioning him your plastic fans I’m ashamed to call you Gooners.
I have been to loads of matches this season and do you know where the real problem lies its with the fans the stadium breaths negativity no one sings I practically loose my voice everytime and some of the looks I get you wouldn’t believe it. Let’s get behind our team and our manager because we will never get a better one. Thank you Arsene you have given me the best times of my life and I believe you will give me more…

alot of talent with no luck would win you nothing. united was lucky against us not to have been buried by RVP and Ransey. So this time the luck came and we took it with open arms.

Dear Theo,
I have been monitoring your interviews and find it disturbing that, having been at this club all these years, you continue to be deluded. Best you can hope for is a runners up medal if we get lower league opposition in all rounds and a small club in the final. That will probably never happen (unless off course you start providing an end product!?!?!?!?!?!).
Lets just be content with being a mid table team.
Kind Regards,
Arsene Wenger

you should not need a half time lecture walcoot,! jsut putting on the glorious red and white should inspire you and every player who wears it, to give 100% . and as for some players who could not walk afterwards. i thought that was all the team was doing in the first half, and most of the games this season, come on be proud to wear the shirt with pride, RED AND WHITE. =. ENERGY, POSITIVITY, COURAGE, AND GLORY.. 100% of the time not jsut 50% . u and ur team mates go prove ur worthy,. and beat bolton tomorrow night.

The second half of that game is the best Arsenal assault I have seen in the last few years. It was like : “hello you villa, you are @ the emirate here and you are not leaving here with even a point no matter the odd, scoreline or minutes left. You just have to be beaten one way or the other”. Now what triggered this assault??? AW half time team talk, Van P. or???? Well whatever it was as fan we want to see more of this. We can do this every game regardless of opponent. We just played our game the old gunners way. I hope this is not a one off, not even the Manchester clubs would have been able to deal with that attitude. AW n Van P. please drill it to the squad to approach every game like this from start 2 finish

I strongly believe Thierry must have said something to some of those lazy boys. The type of play in second half is what Henry has been associated with during his playing days at Arsenal. What i have realised is Spuds are now playing like we used to and they are reaping the rewards whilst we are going backwards. Henry himself left for Barca because he knew very well Wenger would not invest and Arsenal would not win anything.

Well it was a good win, but That does not assure me that this season we are qualifying for ECL or even end up the 5th.We must accept the fact that we have been transformed into an everage team that’s we are no longer in the the big 4. I say so because I cant see according to our squad form the possibility of dropping Chelsea, all the 4 teams ahead of us are looking stonger than us technically and mentally.
So as fans we must accept it so that we will have peace of mind, unless we will end up comlaining to no aveil. AW and the boardy clearly knows that.

It seems as if Arsenal and it,s fickle fans have settled
for mediocrity and second best judging by the ludicrous co
mments here, the Sky Sports commentators have been saying the same thing week in and out,the pace and counter-attacks
of Arsenal,s game is too slow as Aston Villa proved by pla
ying Arsenal at it,s own traditional game ,so the problem
lies in midfield with oh so slow Ramsey but where,s ben-Ay
oun and Diaby already ?

You see ramsey have a small problem concerning holding of ball and pass acurate which we all no that jack wishere is capable, so wenger must make sure that rosicky or arteta an experience player give him assist becos ramsey need to be well trained
