Theo Walcott – We can’t let Tottenham threat put us off
The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott thinks that the Gunners should forget about worrying that Tottenham will finish above them for the first time since the Premiership began, and just concentrate on winning each game as it comes.
Jack Wilshere has already challenged Spurs fans to put up 3000 Pounds to pay to charity if Arsenal finish above them, and Wojciech Szczesny has stated that there is “no way” Tottenham can finish above Arsenal, but Walcott thinks that thinking too much about their rivals’ position could affect Arsenal’s concentration.
He said: “We don’t have to worry about anyone else, we have to concentrate on each game,”
“Maybe we are thinking too far ahead, or thinking too much about Tottenham potentially finishing above us.
“Hopefully we can make sure that doesn’t happen, but we have to take things on a game-by-game basis.
“I think that can be a problem, we cannot worry about wanting teams to drop points when we should just be concentrating on ourselves.”
It’s quite funny that he has said that in public, because he has simply drawn further attention to the gap between the teams, exactly what he is telling people NOT to do! Perhaps it would be better if you didn’t say anything Theo….

Its gonna be tough to pass Spurs. I think our main rivals this year are chelsea, they will be easier to pass. On the other hand Tottenham have a lot away games against top clubs that may help us pass them.

spuds are a one man team even more than we are, yes we rely on vp for goals but spuds rely on bale for everything, every single move starts, goes through, or ends with bale! players like moderic and vdv are so over-rated, i watch every spud game expecting to see moderic tear it up and he never does, yes he works hard and passes allot but he doesnt do anything at all arteta doesnt do for us.
bottom line is if bale gets injured they are screwed, and although theve been flying teams have been rolling over for them like check the difference of the way villa played against spuds to the way they played against us? they will have a bad run before the season ends its certain, and when they do they will choke like they always do. they have been above us for 5 years according to them and the pundits and yet only once qualified for the cl, they talk the talk but when push comes to shove they just dont have the mentality or depth in quality they think they do! cheer up gooners sooner or later barca will come calling for there best player and without bale they are average at best!!!!!!

I dont think spuds deserve d attention we give 2 them..we shuld blacklist them and concentrate on winning our games.finishing above spuds shuld’nt be our target.our target shuld be d trophy.that is where we belong.it is acheivable .

Toby – I disagree there, yes I am a gooner fan. But I feel Spurs’ main threat is infact from Scott Parker, he is everywhere on the pitch he dominates the whole park, but Song will just destroy him anyway.
Maroc – I feel he would be a great signing for us, he has the EPL experience and can be a very talented player – more then he already is, but a player i’d love to see at Arsenal just to annoy Spurs is Lennon, imagine him AND Walcott on each wing? the pace would just be unbearable and Lennon is easily an affordable player for us, but yes Taarabt would be a ncie style player for us!

Why do we worry too much on spurs finishing above us? If only AW can strengthen our team this January while Arsenal wins matches against teams like wolves,then things would be alright.We can even finish first,or second in the league.
There is still a long way to go in this season and more shocking results awaits every top teams,including manu and mancity,and not just spurs.

dont even get me started on scott parker, i was absolutely on my knees begging for him to be bought all of last year, and nearly every gooner told me i was mad or that he wasnt good enough and would struggle to make are first team. well i hope all you anti parker people are now choking on hummble pie coz you couldnt of been more wrong if you tried!

Agree with Toby. have to say though, bale is amazing. I just wish walcott could become more like him. They’ve got the same style but bale’s got more control with his pace and dribbles.

About time for the players to concentrate on what they should be doing on the pitch and the shareholders to be concentrating what they should be doing with the money we have lined their pockets with in order to improve the squad.
Forget about each and every other team and focus on our own targets if the board actually has any that is.

Spurs are ahead of us as they are much more efficient than us. Many focus on Bale but the goals come from Defoe, pav, modric. They aren’t a one man band. But their wingers are much more productive than ours and supply much better ammunition than ours. Having said that they have a tough run ahead but they are confident and will be a major threat to our top 3/4 status.
We have to accept that having under performing players for long periods at our club is ruining our credibility to attract top talent and is having a detrimental impact imbibe players that are performing. It will also lead to the best players leaving.

You know, if you go onto any of the tottenham blogs, they aren’t talking about us. Most articles focus on getting top 4, should they be considered title contenders, who should be bought in january etc.. but no one on there is putting any importance on finishing above or below Arsenal. They’re just focusing on their own team.. We are setting ourselves up for a potential embarrasing disaster after Wilshere, Szeszney, Wenger, and Frimpong have all ran their mouths in recent months, all from behind spurs in the table… Talk AFTER you pass them lads!

Toby I know how you feel buddy, I was so gutted the fact we have missed the Parker deal (deal of the season) we lost out to Mata also due to financing which also gutted me! we are just so unlucky (us fans) when it comes to transfer bidding wars, I can’r remember the last time we won one with a big star!

Well…Theo has got that absolutely right… but i think Spurs managed to finish above arsenal in the 94-95 season when our previous manager got sacked due to fraud. But this year, the spurs have done really well so far… its really gonna be tough this time around.. but a lot depends on this winter transfer window for sure….
