Time for Arsenal to take advantage!
With Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City dropping points on Saturday, Arsenal now sit in fifth place just two points behind Chelsea. The game against Wolves therefore presents a golden, gilt-edged opportunity for Arsenal to not only take three points but also to leapfrog Chelsea into fourth-place.
This is also the first time that Arsenal can finally get into the coveted Champions League position this season. The first half of the season saw Arsenal start horribly and the recent “revival” is something that should continue to propel the Gunners into the New Year.
There is no doubt that the other teams in the top six (including Sp*rs) will continue dropping points, presenting Arsenal with bountiful opportunities to capitalise in the business end of the season. In previous seasons, we have seen Arsenal drop points needlessly and fail to capitalise on huge slip ups by opposition teams.
However, it is not so much about trying to take 19 wins in 19 games but taking the season game after game. No team can play perfectly, but at the very least Arsenal should avoid making costly errors and dropping points especially against teams outside the top six.
The team that wins the Premier League is the one that performs most well consistently – the round robin format will definitely tell you that – and even if Arsenal are seemingly out of the running for the title, by grabbing full points from the “winnable” games anything is possible. Arsenal can – and hopefully will – bring over their excellent form into the new year.

whatever happens I think we will definitely end up top 4. Chelsea and Liverpool both look too rocky and inconsistent to challenge. hopefully spurs manu and city drop points too. Also hoping wilshere and sagna are back for the manu game in late January along with new signings (crossing fingers)

Get two experienced full backs on loan or a permanent deal: Capdevila (Benfica) and Miquel (Valencia). Get striker Jefferson Farfan from Schalke (7 mln) and Marko Marin from Bremer (10 mln) and it’ll be a nice second half of the season!

The games not to far away boys so got my top on, my Arsenal wrist-sweatband ‘lucky charm’ thingy and the AFC football out and I am ready to rock’n'roll – (ritual every game).
I just really, really, really hope that they are also ready to rumble with the same feeling that I have flowing through my body.Its on here at 1:55am (Sydney)and it feels like ages since the Villa game, so I hope they are fresh and calm but effective in their approach to Wolves cos they wont make it easy for us until we impose ourselves and score early then again before h-t ideally for us fans anyway.
I have been out having a few drinks and thought it was a great way to kill time until the game starts so I am probably talking shit but the ritual is what I do when we play. I wear the wrist band when I sleep so if we play at say 4:45am and I cant get up due to work, then I am at least doing somethign for the team. The saturday games are the best cos the mrs is in bed or the tv makes her to sleepy.
But I would give anything to be able to attend away matches and home games and sing my head off or before at the pubs with al Gooners around me talking stuff, it must be great but expensive. I wonder how much it costs on average.
Anyway this took me almost 30 min to type with so many typos, but the gam,er is due to start in 1 min.

arsenal need to sort it out and fast, after getting the early goal we should be putting teams like wolves to the sword a la man u, instead we take are foot of the gas let them back in and once they got there goal its always gonna be a draw. we keep giving these teams something to hold on to and against villa we got lucky but untill we start punishing teams again and finishing games off 2 3 or 4 nil we are gonna keep falling short.

Not good enough for a team with “TOP 4″ aspirations! If Arsene Wenger doesn’t buy a top class LEFT-BACK, CREATIVE CENTRAL MIDFIELDER and a TOP STRIKER (Baines, Goetze and Podolski) in January and spend at least £50-60 million doing this then he and the board should get the same treatment that Steve Kean and Venky’s are getting every home game!

Hope to see AOC get a chance ahead of arshavin i think he is more hungry to succeed.Devastating result,we put pressure on ourself we need to be more ruthless against small team coz they dont have anything to lose they will be prepared to defend the whole game and that cost us.Arteta should not take free kicks he has been ineffective in that area.Hope Wenger realises we need a creative midfielder in Jan also Van Persie fatigue seems to be creeping in.Walcott was missed coz he got the connection wit van persie.Overally dissappointed we still lack that killer instinct

sorry to be having go at players but gervinho scored good goal but our players are making too many clumsy decisions. Shocked with RVP twice he done the same thing when he got clear 1 0n 1, 2nd chance he should have just volleyed it in with his right. last minute we was taking ages for the ball to get pushed up. so frustrating dropping points. why the F is arteta adamant on taking free kicks when his messed all his free kicks up this season.

sell arshavin, use the ox as his replacement. seel chamahk, buy podolski. i still say when all our defenders are back competing for places and when wilshire is back we have enough strength in midfield and defence. its up front were lacking. anyone who just watched the game can see it. we absolutey battered wolves, but we jut dont have the composure in front of goal. 2 world class strikers are needed and out dead wood got rid!!!!

I am a die hard arsenal fan but the way they are playing this season to be realistic spurs will finish above us I think they are the best team in London and my day has been ruined by todays results…why in the hell didnt wenger play the ox in walcotts position today? he is much better than Benayoun, rocisky and arsharvin!!!!!!!!!!! Wenger is like “i think 2012 would be his year” i respect wenger but that was some fucked up comments. Be careful what you say about Arteta the savior mate because everybody loves him on this forum even though his passes are always backwards or sideways and his free kicks in no mans land.
When you see Chamakh still in the line up you have to question AW and his decisions.
Park has played four games and managed a goal yet we still see Chamakh coming on.
It’s the same story as last season when the teams around us drop points and we just go and do the same or worse instead of taking advantage.
The crazy thing is that we are considering loan moves in January instead of permanent signings.

we must never let the lower teams get those goals
after Gervinho’s goal we were just defending untill fletecher scored
and after that we struggled to break through that defence because Wolves put all their players on the defence and their Keeper was on form

Time for some action in the transfer window. We’re in for a disastrous second half of the season if Wenger doesn’t sign one or two top-class players in jan… If Spurs win today they would be 5 points ahead with a game in hand… So we are going to struggle like hell to finish in the top 4… It’s common sense and if Wenger still remain unrealistic Arsenal are going nowhere with this mediocre team. we need demba ba or a very similar player, he has 14 pl goals this season including free kicks, long range efforts and tap inns.
there is way to much on vps head at the mo and if hes having an off day we seem to struggle and having someone like ba would really help us, i think we are also on course for are lowest scoring season for nearly a decade, even when weve been poor in recent years we have never struggled so badly to score goals. not only strikers but we should be getting atleast 10 to 15 a season outa players like walcott ramsey gervinho and arsharvin but for some reason its just not happening. its not creativity thats lacking its goals!!!!!!!!! 40 mil on goetze wont help or solve this particular problem, 15 or 20mil or demba ba 100% will!

Well,well,well. This draw will feel like defeat to us fans. Today of all days, their keeper was in the right place at the right time for everything, Wolves parked the bus and time wasted throughout the whole game, and the ref failed to give a penalty for a stone wall hand ball. Please give me a minute to run through some player reviews :
Szczesny – 5: Apart from their goal which he could do nothing about, he had nothing to do.
Djourou – 6: Clearly a CB out of position, comes too narrow and isn’t comfortable going forward.
Mertesacker – 7: Didn’t do anything wrong, made a good block and won his fair share of headers and was denied a goal by a fantastic save.
Koscielny – 7: Same as Mert, did nothing wrong and made a good driving run into the box towards the end of the game.
Vermaelen – 6: Again, same as Djourou. Constantly coming too narrow and is unable to provide adequate support to the winger.
Song – 6: Not bad but not his best performance either. Made a lot of sloppy passes and tried too many flicks.
Arteta – 7: Good again, not outstanding but good. Kept possession well.
Benayoun – 6: Good pass to put Gervinho through for 1-0, had a relatively quite game after that though.
Rosicky – 8: Imo he was our best player today. Did really well in the build up to our goal and played a lot of really good passes to van Persie.
Gervinho – 7: Started very brightly, really good finish to put us 1-0 up and made a number of good runs and passes. His brain turned off after the first 30 minutes though.
van Persie – 6: Disappointed with him, he was clearly trying too hard to score and it cost us.
Subs: Arshavin – 6: Looked better than he has done in previous weeks, but still not good enough.
Ramsey – 7: Was pretty good. Completed all 18 of his passes in the final 3rd and was trying to drive us forward.
Chamakh – 6: Poor again, all he really managed to do was hurt van Persie.

I will always be an arsenal fan and i hate spurs but they have quality finishers (bale, modric, van der vaat..) and they are the best in london unless arsenal sign top quality players we will loose to spurs, mancs, and liverpool. chelsea is the only top 4 team we might beat but i doubt it cause they gonna spend big come january. third richest club but everyday arsenal plays this season even against weaker team they just dont have the killer instinct..and fuck you wenger!! for not playing the ox i hope one day you realise that you dont have qulity finishers except rvp and since 2005 its the same old bulshit talk…next game is against qpr wish th boys goodluck..happy new year gunners!

So who’s fault was it today? I’m not going to sugercoat this one. Wenger is mostly to blame, for making terrible in game decisions. He would rather play Chamakh or Arse shavings over AOC? Everyone except Wenger would of brought on AOC. And for crying out loud Chamakh is USELESS, why not bring on Park who has at least scored some goals for our club?
I do not understand the logic or lack there of of this frenchman. If no signings are made in Jan I for one will be PISSED OFF as we clearly need some better players and we need to get rid of useless players like Chamakh, Arshavin, Djoure. If Wenger actually did his job properly we wouldn’t have to rely on these second rate players all the time. He would bust his arse to get better players in. Okay, maybe that was a bit uncalled for above and I’m sorry if it offended anyone or anything but can you see where I’m coming from? After just one draw so many people are getting on the managers/players backs. Don’t get me wrong, it was a disappointing performance but certainly not disastrous. We’re still in fifth place and just a point off Chelsea; which is – if you consider where all our fans(including many on this forum) said we would finish at the end of the season – very good. I find it slightly unfair to say the team will finish in a certain place and then when they surpass those expectations, to say that it still isn’t good enough.
And @Big Gun, why does it have to be anyone’s fault? I agree that there is some deadwood in the team, but we did ship a lot out in the summer(Denilson, Clichy, Bendtner). In my humble opinion, we lost through a bit of bad luck (refereeing decisions) and their keeper having a blinder. I thought that Arshavin did quite well when he came on, actually, and that the substitutions gave us more cutting edge in our attack. We’ve not seen AOC in action properly in a competitive EPLeague game(only in the Mickey Mouse Cup and against Olympiakos)…except for 30 minutes in the 8-2 debacle so we don’t know if he’s actually ready yet; I trust Arsene on this one.

I HATE saying this, but it looks like Tottenham are the better team of London right now. How the F did we get to that point. Yes we have RVP, but one man cant do everything for us. We need to seriously need to consider breaking the bank in January and getting some guys who can score for us. Eden Hazard and Mario Gotze would be best, but you know if there is a bidding war, Wenger will drop out fast. But we cannot continue to have results like this and say that we are progressing, because we have taken a huge step back from last year.

@Big Gun I think your wrong about the top 4. Chelsea are also showing that they can drop points. Chances are that Tottenham will get their fair share of injuries and it will be interesting to see how they deal with them, they really don’t have any strength in depth. We then have a two points to gain on chelsea and eight on tottenham (to go third), it will take effort but we can do it, especially with our full backs, Diaby and JW coming back.
And about Wenger, he just lost two world class players in the summer; imagine how much stronger our line up would look with Cesc in it. I dont think that we could have bought anyone to replace him and Arteta is about as good as we were going to get at the time. I think our best hope is to have faith in the Rambo-Wilshere combo which looked lethal in pre-season.

Arshavin was good, don’t get me wrong. But CHAMAKH? ARE YOU KIDDING. AOC could have done a muich better job than him. Van Persie is at blame for not passing to Song in the first half and putting the game to rest. Their keeper was equal to everything we threw at him, however.

Your such an over reactor! I bet when one of your ‘mates’ tells you that your girlfriend was flirting with another guy, you believe him and immeaditatly accuse the girl of cheating or trying to cheat thjen break up with her. Its called over reacting. We all now our troubles at the start, we now know for sure that Arshavin and Chamakh are no good, we know we cant wint the title, so AW has to try at least to see if these players can come good again. Against Wolves any of our team should beat them, so hopefully he knows they wont now and need to be sold. He gave time to everyone to show us how good they are, just like Song but look at him now. Xavi at BArca was called the cancer of the team for years, but he obviously came good now with the right team around him. Maybe for Arsh&Cham with a newish team he would give them a go again and see if they improve before selling and buying.
After our poor start we are not just going to bounce back and win every game. Our away form is good , so it shouldbnt be a big thing to make home a fortress again. Chelsea, City and Pool all drew against ‘lesser’ teams maybe it was xmas hangover?
