Tottenham favourites to sign Abou Diaby
I have been looking around the wonderful world of football betting and I told you all that Arsenal were the 1/10 favourites to sign Christopher Samba yesterday, but there are some more interesting bets out there on the web.
I didn’t even know there was a possibility that Abou Diaby could be leaving Arsenal, but according to Skybet Tottenham are the 5/1 favourites to sign him, with Chelsea and Real Madrid next best at 16/1. Inter Milan, Manchester United and PSG are all at 20/1. Now I wonder what possessed them to make a book on that?
Here are a few more prices of players that Arsenal have been linked to: Obviously the Gunners are hot favourites to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain, but from being 1/10 on earlier they are now priced at 1/2. Liverpool have ben backed in to 13/8 second faves with Man United at 10/1.
Everyone wants to know about Fabregas. Well, according to Sky he is a 1/3 on shot to join Barcelona, and even Unibet have him at about 1/2 to return home. Does money talk that much?
Despite Arsene Wenger’s protestations, Man Utd are hot favourites to be Samir Nasri’s club after the transfer window at 4/9, with Inter Milan second best at 7/2.
With Unibet, Bayern Munich are 2/1 favourites to take Nicklas Bendtner, while he is 3/1 to end up at Dortmund, and the same price to stay at the Emirates! Can you imagine the damage to his ego if no-one buys him!
There are no prices at all on Denilson’s next club……..
Gary Cahill is thought to be one of Wenger’s major targets, and after being second in the betting up ’til yesterday, Arsenal have been solidly backed into 4/9 favourites, while Man City have been knocked out to 6/4.
Leighton Baines is 4/1 to be at Arsenal next season, and surprisingly Shay Given is only 7/2 to be at the Emirates, and the last bit of interest has to be the “Next Arsenal manager” market.
Paddy Power (Arsenal’s official bookie) have got Andres Vilas-Boas as the 6/1 favourite to take over from Wenger when he retires (or gets sacked?) with Pep Guardiola at 7/1 and Frank Rijkaard at 10/1.
Did you see anything worth betting on out of that lot?

Would love to see Villas-Boas at the Grove when Wengers time is finished. Side note that last year Cesc was a staggering 1/20 with skybet to join Barca so proves not everything is guaranteed!

Farshid: well, quite right about Diaby, but you seem to forget he gets injured all the time like RVP and can’t keep his calm on the pitch… Better off letting him go to Totts and bringing in Hazard…

I think Abou Diaby is a good player. He is inconsistent but can bevery good at times. Wouldnt want him to go to tottenham if we sell him please be it to a french club.

Skybet’s prices are totally unrealistic as they never offer a price on any player remaining at their present club. Unibet do offer such a facility and consequently their prices are far more realistic. Check out Cesc and Samir on that site and have a sensible punt at good prices on them staying put.

Wonder what odds you would get on Diaby playing 4 consecutive matches?

I think you’re reading into betting stakes a bit too much, as I believe Cesc and Nasri will stay. Hear me out; Nasri wants good signings to the club, we have signed Gervinho and look like signing Samba, possibly even Cahill, therefore he will stay (probably).
Cesc is in demand at Barca but not for the right price – His contract goes until 2015, no pressure on us to sell – i.e. if Barca don’t meet are demands Arsenal wont sell, simple. So for those reasons both will stay.

Should we ask the Totts whether they want to take Denilson as well? The Brazilian is a bonus if they buy Diaby.

Fabregas and Nasri will stay unless there is a big signing in the midfield department. Wenger knows he can sell these 2 players anytime unlike Bentner or Denilson.
I think we’ll get Gervinho and Samba. Cahill is a possibility too which would fortify our back line. Regardless whether we have Fabregas or Nasri leave, we still need another creative midfielder of world class quality.
I’d like to see Miyaichi play on the left wing and Arshavin as a substitute. Thomas Vermaelen to play in the left back position with Samba and Cahill in the middle and Sagna at right back. Gibbs to back Vermaelen with koscielny and djourou to back Samba/Cahill and Lansbury/Eboue to back Sagna

wenga must buy a creative midfielder if fab leaves. nasiri is not a creative player. he holds to ball too much and i wonder if he has the physical energy to last for 90 mits- these are basic requirements for a creative midfielder.

@ Arsenal Avenue: Good one!
Arsenal might become a clearing house this summer with offers like:
1. Buy one get second at 50% off (Denilson, Alumnai, Clichy, Bendtnar).
2. Buy two and get the third for FREE! Offer ends June 30th, 2011.
3. Buy a team COMBO (Denlison, Alumnia, Bendtnar, Clichy, Eboue) for $50 Million.
No Credit. No Problem. We accept Everyone.

@ Subin George: I would love Pep to join Arsenal. However, knowing the current owners – we might end up with 2 situation:
1. AW would choose the successor, in my openion it would be this guy from Eastern Europe who is now coaching in Japan. Forgot his name.
2. Get in Pep, as he can not stay at Barca for ever and I am sure he is curious to test himself in the premiership.

Swap Diaby for Defoe. Good deal for all parties.

What price Roberto Martinez as the next Arsenal manager from next season onwards if (a) Dear Arsene fails to deliver and (b) Wigan have an alright season.
I’d personally suggest Messrs Vila Boas or Guardiola or the current chap i/c Grampus 8 that Arsene has endorsed personally as playing to the same philosphy would be shorter odds but I can see Roberto – or his North Western cohort at Bolton – being a very possible outside bet. Anyone prepared to offer me 25/1 or better for either Roberto Martinez or Owen Coyle (seperate bets) to be i/c for the 2012/2013 season I’d be interested.

There are only 4 “spuds i like” Van der Vaart, Bale, Modric and Dawson although i do like one with extra hot chilli and cheddar.
Also like the comment about selling a whole team as a “combo” hows this?
Almunia
Eboue Hoyte Squillaci Clichy
Eastmond Denilson
Diaby
Rosicky Bendtner Vela
I have to say i would not shed a tear for any of this lot, especially if we got somewhere around 50m

He is a lazy shit and arrogant as hell, talking up how he loves his spurs jersey.
I hope Arsenal sell him and replace him with the out-of-contract Vieira!!! Sure he is old but he is experienced, a great leader and a true gunner!! He has 1-2 seasons left in him and can play from the bench. That would give Frimpong and Lansbury enough to develop, and then when Vieira retires he can have a coaching role.
