Arsenal rumours 07/01/2011: Vela, JET, Almunia and Wellington Silva
In Arsene Wenger’s pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup clash with Leeds United, he was drawn into comment on the short-term futures of four players, whilst he also gave us an update on the situation of Aaron Ramsey.
Vela, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Almunia have been the subject of intense transfer speculation in the past few weeks and the future of young Brazillian Wellington Silva will lay overseas for at least a year as he works to obtain a work permit for the UK.
Carlos Vela has been the subject of interest from ten clubs according to Arsene Wenger, and the Mexican hotshot is believed to be aiming to spend time at a club in England to get more experience in the Premier League:
“There are plenty of clubs [interested], We have a choice and that is basically the problem because he has the choice as well.
“At the moment we have requests from France, Spain and England which we have to sort out. There are about ten clubs interested. There are about three or four in the Premier League. I would prefer [him to stay in England] because for us it is easier to watch him and come to conclusions. It is much easier to compare in the Premier League than if he goes to another country. But, we need him to feel comfortable to go where he would like to go.
“When players of his quality are available on loan in a market that is very restricted money-wise, you have an abundance of clubs who want them.”
His selection in the FA Cup squad for tomorrows game may give us a clue that he is heading abroad, something which I don’t think would bring him any benefit at all. I am hoping that Vela gets a chance to join Bolton or Blackpool on loan.
One player set to join Vela is Jay Emmanuel-Thomas to, according to Wenger, is ‘likely’ to go out on loan. Blackburn and QPR have been interested in the past and West Ham are said to be sniffing around the lanky 20 year old.
Manuel Almunia’s Arsenal career looks all but over after the manager admitted that he was in ‘no mans land’ at the moment as regards to him staying or leaving:
“I have had a chat with him but nothing is decided. There is a small chance [he could leave]. I will let you know [how I feel] if he leaves.”
Personally, that is the best news I have had all day!
Wellington Silva also has to join a Spanish team as he doesn’t meet UK VISA qualifications. The boss saying:
“He will certainly go to Spain on loan. You can only ask for one work permit per season so we have to wait at least until the end of the season to come back.
“Hopefully he does well in the Spanish championship and we have a better chance with the work permit.”
I am certain that he won’t go on loan until the summer but he will be unable to play with the reserves or the first-team for that length of time. Hopefully the situation around this bright young talent is sorted shortly.

michael,
are you sure you are not spurs supporter?
coz you don’t know anything about arsenal football club.
maybe this time last year you said the same thing about djourou and the year before you screamed at wenger to spend 20 millions for a crazy brazilian as song was useless.
vela’s given number 11 shirt and he’s not complaining like bendtner why do you want him out?
wenger knows why he’s keeping him so please quiet

this time last year theo walcott was written off by everyone, including the so-called football experts.
oh i forgot! lukasz fabianski………
if you know anything about arsenal football club don’t judge a young player who’s still wearing the shirt.

@sam, I wonder why u’re gonna write off Vela just like that! He is a very skillful player, but hasn’t gotten much chance to xpress himself because we have large squad and besides,I think he’s better off playing from de flank rather than de centre that Wenger prefers…..I’d be happy if Wenger could get rid of denilson, rosicky, bendtner and ashavin instead of Vela

Arshavin leads Arsenal in assists. When Cesc is not available he takes his spot on the pitch. Andrei doesn’t have the stamina to take on the full 90 minutes of EPL, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t try. Every player has to pace himself in order not tire out too quickly. Arsene figured this out by now and uses him when needed most.
There are a few players that I am not too excited about, but as a full time Arsenal FC supporter it’s not up to me to criticize them. I just hope that Wenger doesn’t lose touch with reality and buys a strong, tall defender before the winter transfer window is closed. Our title hopes will ride on this!!!!!!!!

Wenger, if you sell vela make sure you buy another striker.Atleast i can see that our defensive has improved compared to last year.So what we need now is a good striker who can score more goals like thiery henry and be a top go scorer. We want a top goal scorer to come from arsenal.Once a gunner always a gunner.God bless arsenal fans!!

am suprised a lot of arsenal youngsters are wanted by top clubs in england and around the world, this shows you what a great scouting system the club has. Vela is a talent and the problem with him is he couldn’t adopt to epl style, so giving him to other epl side will be good for his progress, and well almunia i am praying him leaves, coz you never know with de boss he might give him a third chance.

This shows how stupid we AW is at times…he has made Arsenal a breeding ground where we reproduce good players to go out. U r happy with that thought? Be happy & rot…we want trophies & not to see AW’s experimentation….stupid old cow

If anyone has any doubt on my viwes of my comment on AW, pls watch a repaet telecast of how we played against Leeds just now…
we were a bunch of jokers before Fabregas & Walcott came as subs…
Leading the joker pack was Denilson & Arshavin ( God, just kick these two out )
They were followed by ineffectual Chamakh, Bendtner, Rosicsky, Squi, Eboue ( what horrid bench-strength these dubs are & some morons who call themsaelves Arsenal fans are proud of these dicks )…
It was such a sad match that we played… horribleit was a pain watching these idiots playing in Arsenal shirts…
And Vella came as a sub & played for 10 mins- did he even get a decent touch on the ball / I don’t even remember

A lot of these squad players are just not good enough, struggling to string together passes, denilson and rosicky are just rubbish now totally useless, eboue (always diving) is terrible cannot defend, cannot pass, cannot cross, cannot shoot, the only thing he does is run with the ball up the right flank fall over trying to win a free kick or just give it away, bentner, I don’t know what he’s doing and neither does he, chamack just wants to pass back, and arsharvin bloody hell, admittedly he has got talent but how many times is he gonna give the ball away seriously, come on keep it simple,
At this rate I just cannot see us winning anything.
The few, actual good consistent players we have are just not enough.
Vital players
Djrou
Sagna
Clichy
song
Wilshere
Fabs
Nasri
Second bunch of good players that need to be better
Wallcot
Arshavin
Chamack
Gibbs
Skillatchi
Koceilny
Diaby (he could also be in the group below)
Players that we can sell for replacements
Vp (some may put him in the group above not me)
Eboue
Denilson
Rosicky
The guys in the second bunch NEED to become vital players and put in better consistent performances if we want to win anything this season.
The guys in the last bunch should be sold and replaced with top quaility players we need to improve the team , we should be able to make about 27 mil at least from them.
This is just my opinion
Come on Arsenal……
