Uh-Oh! Van Persie’s knackered!
Arsene Wenger last night tried yet again to give Robin Van Persie a rest, just like he did against Stoke a couple of weeks ago, but again he had no choice but to bring him on for the last half hour as Ju-Young Park fluffed his lines when given the chance to shine.
It was Marouane Chamakh that tried (and failed) to cover for Van Persie against Stoke, but Arsenal fans had higher hopes for Park after his recent international form and his performance against Bolton, but the Korean couldn’t reproduce that form against Marseille.
Wenger admitted that Van Persie is knackered and seriously needs a rest. After the game he explained why he had to leave Van Persie on the bench: “He was tired, this was fatigue, that’s why I did that,” he said.
“You know we are playing 50 games in a year, he cannot play 50 games. He had a great chance when he came on – he tried to chip the keeper. Overall I believe you cannot just say one player makes the difference.”
Wenger may not believe that, but it seems increasingly obvious that Van Persie makes a massive difference. There is an argument that would say that Arsenal would have failed to win half of the games at least if Van Persie hadn’t been on the pitch knocking in goals this season.
Gooners can only hope that either Park or Chamakh will suddenly hit form, because if (God forbid) Van Persie comes down with his seasonal injury, Arsenal’s rapid climb up the table could come to a rapid halt.
Who thinks that Arsenal could manage without Van Persie for a couple of months?

we put up with the guy being gone every year he literally has never played half a season straight his longest run a season was 24 games without injury, what makes this season different? we lost cashri & el capitano? but wat about when we lost our only other good forward adefagyor, or hleb or king thierry? someone stepped, wat happened when we lost toure? some1 stepped up (verma), it took a while but someone has stepped as lehmann’s successor (szczensy), if, i mean when van get’s injured, some1 will step up cause we’re the ARSENAL, this is how our system works arsene has built us this way, if van never got injured i guarantee cashri wouldn’t have had an amazing first half season it’s no coincidence his performances dropped when van was back, same with chamakh, the only question is who is gonna step up this time as main threat?
gervinho, chamakh, park, walcott, arshavin, ryo, ox???????????

I honestly think we need another striker in the January transfer window. Relegate Chamakh and Park to English cups, and hopefully get a non CL cup tied striker (good luck).
We’re just looking so poor in front of goal. We’re missing sitters! Its a growing trend in the last few games, especially at Stoke/Chelsea/OM.
Gervinho has lightening quick feet, and gets in great positions, but he misses so many chances. I think hes destined for wing play/supporting striker, and we need someone who can poke them home when we need it.

I’m sorry but, 1 man does not maketh the team, it has been said before with a certain T. Henry…
Ok chu young didn’t have the best of games but could you do any better… he has not had enough time on the pitch to shine as yet! Patience please, we did not lose & from where I was sat he gave 100%..
If Mr wenger has doubts as to a direct replacement for rvp then play the ox or grant theo his wish & play him as a centre forward.
In relation chelsea had torres & anelka as an attacking option last night & how did that go for them.. ha ha..
A fit rvp is important, however not crucial to the success of AFC..

Chamakh and Park need someone strong to play with upfront.
Gervinho played that role last nite but he falls over too easily and always opts for the most obvious pass even if he has 3 other players free. Not to be overly critical, he reads the game well but falls over too often at crucial moments.
I thought Park did well for a first UCL game. He did not get too much service on the night and the same can be noted when RVP got on to the pitch. Wenger needs to vary the formation to suit the players on the pitch, in order for these 2 guys to flourish. Look at how many goals Bendtner has scored for Sunderland just by playing him in the right formation.

Of course he is knakkered. AW must sort out who will take is role when rested or buy top quality in January. Don’t worry about CL as we will struggle in knockout phase. Podolski, who else…..???? Hazard is a must!!!!

We have tried Chamakh and also Park (who we must say played on a night where our distribution was not up to scratch)
Here’s an idea Walcott is a striker so why not give him a go with AOC and Gervinho on either wing.
We could also play Arshavin in midfield which believe it or not is his natural position.

Gervinho
Walcott
Park
Chamakh
RVP
Do you really think we will get another Forward.
As we play one up front we are not short of options. ?
Park and Chamakh will come good. They just need time on the field.
The doubters are the same people (such as Adam Kemp) who said Rosicky and Arshavin are finished, Walcott will never be good enough ‘because he hasnt got a footballing brain’ and (I quote) ‘Koscielny isnt good enough even to play in the championship’.
Patience please

What I don’t understand, is if Van Persie is that knackered, and skipping one 90 minute match will solve the problem, why can’t he just sit out a days training? Lets be honest it’s not like he needs it right now.

Certainly park has something to off and am a bit doubtfull about chamak i tink getting a sharp pacey goalscoring strike should be brought in in case{FORBID SO}persie gets his so called injury break that will stand up to the plate and fill persie’s temporary void.verm welcome back fully had a wonderfull outing last time out.

Soldado looks like a great striker that can fit right into our team. However, he’s cup tied with Valencia

Park has got a run in 3 games this season and we’re saying he’s not up to snuff?? Do y’all wonder why the fans never have their will heard? Because that’s the stupidest thing ever to judge someone on one full appearance. Give the man time. For my money, he’s better than rvp at winning headers in the midfield, he just needs reps in practice running with Walcott and gerv to become a true backup for rvp. Now chamakh on the other hand must show somethin bc he’s ha time. If he doesn’t, I say go for either p. Cisse in January or huntelaar in the summer. And a draw with marsielle is not a bad thing, still in qualification.
Gun em down 4 life

So Messi can play 50 games a season and Van Persie is rested after a few – this is a joke isnt it?
Why aren’t we playing him now, getting the results and we can worry about the rest of the time when he IS INJURED. Right now he’s fit, on fire and should be starting EVERY GAME.
Sort it out Wenger.

Unfortunatelly, Arsenal being a top competition club (aiming for the Premier League, Champions League, Carling Cup and FA Cup), cannot wait for their strikers to be ready.
Clubs in similar conditions (Chelsea, Man. City, Man Utd., Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, etc.) know that when buying new strikers, they have to aim to the top.
It wouldn’t be the first time for monsieur Wenger to use the injury excuse for a cupless season.
With a solid defence and midfield in progress, we need, we must, reinforce our attack on the next window. And we must aim high.

Park found it difficult but he has hardly played yet. Plus he and Chamakh and RVP have to play a very difficult role for Wenger : isolated down the middle with two fast, high risk wingers some 20 – 30 yards away.
RVP is the most skilful of the three and even he can’t hold the ball up well without support. He is scoring when we get it to him in and around the penalty area … or when Terry pretends to fall over.
What everyone except Wenger thinks is we should have other formations (442 / 4411 etc) to bring the best out of key players. Only against Bolton agreed …. but Park was useful with Arshavin closer to him last week.

It is no coincidence that our other strikers only seem to find their form when RVP is injured. It was Chamakh last season and Bendtner the season before that. RVP is our best player but, then, I truly believe he would be the best player in any other EPL team (bar, perhaps, City where Silva is on top form). Therefore, of course the team will be weaker without him in it! But that is not to say we cant keep getting results when he is on the sidelines.

he could be forced to play walcott as striker, which could be a blessing in disguise
