United will not buy Walcott from Arsenal in January!

Posted on December 16, 2012 by Bob

There is still no word from Arsenal about Theo Walcott signing a new contract, and there is very little time left before the transfer window opens on the first of January. Arsene Wenger has already declared that he wants to know what is happening with the England international before then, so it is looking increasingly likely that Arsenal will have to say goodbye to our top scorer of the season, again.

The papers have been full of stories this week about Manchester United wanting to sign Walcott, whether as a swap for their Portuguese winger Nani or as a straight purchase, but Alex Ferguson has declared that he will not be entering the transfer market for Walcott in January, or anyone else for that matter.

“I will not be bringing anyone in in January, definitely not.”

Arsenal fans cannot totally relax, however, because Walcott could still arrange his free transfer in the summer. There is also the interest from Juventus, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool to contend with. Walcott could recover in time to play at Reading tomorrow. After that there is another away game against Wigan, followed by home games against West Ham and Newcastle in which Walcott has the chance to convince Arsenal that he is worth the extra wages that he is holding out for.

Walcott will leave and arsenal won’t spend big in January. Sorry but deep Dow you all know it’s true.. How can some fans actually think we would get FALCAO ?? You must be drunk.. And Walcott is a little ***** claiming he isn’t signing a new contract because he wants to be striker That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.. Man u, city, Liverpool they would all play him on the wing… It’s so obvious it’s about money … Just leave Walcott, just leave and take kroenke with you

  4. o_0 says:

Ferguson might be pretending to get a lower price. I hope not. Imagine our two top goal scorers last season at United. Arsenal, give him the 100k (and Sagna) by getting some of the deadwood off the wage bill.

  5. Stam says:

How about a change of tactics?? 4-2-2-2

    Schezney
    Sagna- per- Vermalen – Gibbs
    Arteta – Wilshire
    Cazorla – Rosicky
    Walcott – Podilski

That way Walcott is striker so he signs the contract, Podilski won’t be lost on the wing, and Sagna and Gibbs can play on the flanks for support.

I really dont think he will go to liverpool,if he goes to city he will just warm the bench and we will all know it was about the money, going to city will completely halt his development,if he goes to Chelsea then he will get treated very well by us fans ust like ca$hri and ade,Juve is the only one left but he wont play there as their striker thats for sure.I REALLY DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THEO HAS BEEN MOANING ABOUT NOT BEING PLAYED AS A STRIKER WHEN WENGER HAS GIVEN HIM THE FREEDOM TO ROAM AND INTERCHANGE POSITIONS.

@gunnerineverylife yeah you are right even during his southampton days he usaully played on right wing it’s obivious he wants more money he wants 100 a week the board has asked to sign new contract & in 1-2 years he will be offered a new contract but he & his greedy agent are not willing to wait even if he leaves i am not too bothered overrated did you see performance against swansea the only thing consistent about him is his inconsitency adrian lopez or zaha will be better than him

  13. Fresh Phily says:

It think he’ll definetly be moving to a premier league club. United may be needing another winger, since Park is gone, giggs is ready for the glue factory, and Nani has fallen out with Utd. That leaves just Young and Valencia. Let’s not fool ourselves into thinking he’ll sign where he thinks he’ll get striker. Utd, City, Liverpool and Chelsea all have reasons to “need” Walcott. I wan’t him to stay, but he may just be some child who want’s the Bling Bling. Or perhaps he was on the phone to Nasri, Clichy, Toure, Fabregas, Hleb, Henry, Flamini, Cole etc. Who have all won major honours since leaving.

money is not theos motivation, he wants to be starter let alone a starting striker.
he will go 2 juve or liverpool
if money is his motivation he will go chelsea mancity
but whatever happens he is not good enough to be a starter for arsenal, in maybe 2 seasons he will be as a striker but unfortunately right now we havent got the time and patience to train a 24 year old to play an unfamiliar position. basically if hes willing wait 2 more seasons and learn and provide depth that would be huge for us but it wont happen as he is getting older and he deserves to be a starter so good luck to him and i hope joins juve and becomes seria A best player and wins trophies

  23. Fresh Phily says:

Man City are in need for a winger and Englishman since selling Adam Johnson, just like Sinclair. They need variety in options, Instead of Nasri-Silva which keeps them narrow Sinclair-Walcott are pacey threats. Also interest may come With supposed sanctions to come into place under the FFP act. Liverpool despite Suarez goal tally this season are in need of a Striker, Suarez to play off him with Gerrard marshalling the midfield, or Rodgers could try implement what he had at Swansea i.e sinclair-Dyer but with Sterling-Walcott. As for Chelsea they need somoeone who can shoot on target up top, and Walcott, Hazard, Oscar and Mata is an extremly dangerous and versatile frontline. With Walcott they could try that absorve pressure get lucky then counter-attack. Each of these clubs could drastically increase his wages, including Utd whom i mentioned earlier.

  24. Doc says:

I heard rumours Theo is a Liverpool fan and am thinking thats where he is going. If he is not staying unless he gets 100k then he is trying to get a free transfer. We were lucky to get 20 plus million for Nasri & Van before they done the could of done the same. What I can’t understand is why Wenger didn’t call his bluff and stick him up front instead of Gervihno. He would either score goals and be a success sign a contract for 85k or if he didn’t then I don’t think he tracks back enough on the wing. So sell him before he walks away. To be honest not the attitude you want from someone who you want to play for the shirt.

  26. Louis says:

It’s been obvious that Theo wasn’t going to sign a new contract with us since the summer. Again this is some poor management from Wenger or the men upstairs, Walcott should have been shipped off last summer to the highest bidder, he is decent at his best but often inconsistent and isn’t getting any younger. He’s a lightweight mentally and physically and as he gets older he will also lose his pace which has always been his most valuable asset. Now he is worth virtually nothing as clubs can come in for him in the summer for absolutely NOTHING. What a waste of time yet another player allowed to walk away from the club, a club which has spent so much time and money trying to develop them and invested so much effort in order to reach their potential. The club has gone wrong and I don’t know who to blame anymore. Everyone is hoping for Wenger to splash the cash in January and we all know that it’s there, we’re paying the highest ticket prices in the entire world! And paying for what?! But.. we can all guarantee no star names will be brought in, it’s not cynical it’s just honest – I also believe that any real massive overhaul of the team should probably be done in the summer as it usually works better. I really do hope that we go out and sign a few players in January to at least secure a Champions League spot but I would rather have one WORLD CLASS player then three average ones who will end up warming the bench with Chamakh and the like.

Well do you not think we need a right footed or two footed striker. Pod can cover Girourd. We need something different no offence to Llorente. Speed and finishing etc and I love two footed players, some players frustrate me trying to get the ball to their stronger foot ive seen enough of it at arsenal. El shaarawy would be an interesting prospect.

  33. Gunner madness says:

Can’t see him signing as we won’t offer what he wants, if he’s not going to sign we need to offload him early in January and stop the negative press bandwagon that is gathering around mount doom (the emirates). We also need to wise up to the fact that winger won’t go this side of the summer no matter what happens because he won’t jump and he sure as hell won’t be pushed. So us “loyal” fans need to think very carefully what is the best course of action to take to ensure we play our part in making the next part of our season something to shout about.
By all means demonstrate before and after the game but if I was playing in front of my home fans it would lift me knowing that I had a twelfth man in the stands like at Newcastle. It seems to me from watching our away games we have better support there because mount doom is like a library. Is this because away fans can buy groups of tickets together because you certainly hear the support more.
When I used to go to Highbury I seem to remember the clock end and the north stand used to sing their hearts out to lift the team. Doesn’t seem to be the case at mount doom. Then there was no seating and you could rock up and get to where the chanting was. For me that’s one of the problems with this new stadium that needs sorting out.

I only watched him recently and scored with left foot I was concerned but two footed and mainly right certainly makes a difference. Be ok then our kind of money.

I don’t see Walcott signing the deal and eh will leave. if he had plans to stay at Arsenal he would have signed already and tried to concentrate on game and put some life in this struggling team. It was the time when when we neede him and he is leaving. wish we could have players like Jack.

Its not Arsenal’s fault. Its clubs like Cuty and Chelsea who have started this trend and were paying 170k to players like Adebayor. Giroud was at 15k at Montpellier….Juan mata is at 60K at chelsea.

as some guy mentioned above…podolski and giroud should be made to fight it out amongst them for the lone striker role…while we need wingers who really want to play on the wings…if walcott leaves then shawrawy from milan is an option…holtby, sterling but we also need a strong DM too..wanyama or capoue looks good deal…even tiote could do an amazing job…watched him play against mancity…he bossed it when he played…striker i think is not a necessity cuz ultimately giroud and podolski will come good..new striker has to be some seasoned professional like huntelar…he can show giroud and podolski how to finish…

I am sick to death with AFC in the transfer market.
It’s gone from AW replacing NOW talent with ‘in a few years talet’ (at least then we’d still get some decent players in a few seasons)!!
To him lately just buying anyone to say he’s entered the transfer market i.e. most of last seasons last min signings (way over-priced for that matter)

It’s too much now. Manure linked with LEWANDOWSKI in the summer, and Chelski saying they’ll break the bank for FALCAO, even Sp*rs are doing better in the window. We have the money we have the attraction of coming to us
    WE MUST BUY
