Van Persie admits he would be excited to play for Real Madrid – Nooooooo!
The Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has today hinted at a summer move to Real Madrid after admitting that he would be excited about the prospect of playing for the La Liga side.
Speaking to the Spanish daily Marca, the Dutch striker had this to say: “I like knowing the interest of Real Madrid and of course I would be excited to play there”.
However, much to the relief of Arsenal fans, he did admit that it would be hard for him to leave North London and that manager Arsene Wenger will not be very eager to enter discussions with the Spanish giants.
“I do not think Arsenal would negotiate with Real though and it would be very hard to let go of this club.”
Although it is very disheartening to listen to our captain speak of his interest to play elsewhere, I strongly believe that he will stay if we manage to qualify for the Champions League and if Le Boss shows some ambition in the summer, one or two marquee signings maybe!
I certainly hope that Wenger takes the appropriate steps come the end of the season and ensure that our Captain is not the next one to get on his bike. The guy is irreplaceable!
(ADMIN COMMENT – Robin Van Persie has since denied that he has EVER given an interview to Marca. We apologize but didn’t know that at the time the article was posted)

Arsenal will refuse to negotiate with Barcelona. Mourinho is leaving Madrid so they will have no manager to convince RVP. Italy is a boring league so he wont go there. Bayern…. possible?not sure if they would have the money..! People dont realise how vital Wenger is, if he leaves so does RVP, Song and our other best players they love him.

Yeah I agree zues, it all depends on wenger now. We have to keep le prof at the end of the yeareven ifwe don’t make the Europa. I fully believe we’ll make the champions league, but to ensure our players will stay, arsene needs to move out the driftwood immediately in the summer. You got some work to fo arsene. Up gunners

Hello all,
What a none story. Of course any player likes the idea of other top clubs interested in them, it means that people who matter think you are really good at what you do. Who does not like praise…. we all do. So dont worry RVP aint going anywere. He loves the arsenal too much and he is loyal To borrow arshavin phrase RVP is gooner.
Cheers,

like i said before…
get prepared for his departure…
we simply cannot match the money his agent will offered – 95k a week will not cut it
he will be touted round the spenders at 200k+ a week…
and there will be queue
sadly we will have to cash in while there is still mileage in his contract…cruel fact of life

I know that rvp will leave.his statement is a gun powder waiting 2 explode.so what do we do now?.show ambition by making bold statement in d transfer market and giving rvp a massive wage he truly deserve.it will be a disaster if we allow this guy leaves

This news comes on the back of the new player valuations in the league.
Rooney – 57 Million
Aguero -41.5 million
Silva – 40.5 Million
RVP – 39.5 Million
Modric – 34.5 Million
Nani – 31.5 Million
Torres- 31 Million
Bale – 31 million
I hope RVP stays but I assume all the usual will come courting this summer. Real, Barcelona, Man City (if they can offload Tevez), Inter, AC Milan. I don’t see Bayern as a player in the attempts
He’ll stay with Arsenal or go to Barcelona if they sell David Villa. Of course he’s flattered by Real Madrid being interested. The thought of RVP & Benzema up front with Ronaldo, Ozil, DeMaria, etc in midfield should terrify people. But I don’t see him going anywhere other than Barcelona.

RVP goes then we should buy seydou doumbia he is a new didi drogba . Demba ba could be a great gunner scorer, or swap if he goes to Barca trade him for david villa or if he goes Madrid swap him for benzema. Anyway plz stay RVP

To be honest, can’t remember the last time I heard anything reliable from ‘Marca’, Spains equivalent of the Daily Mail or Sun.
However, I’m praying that RvP doesn’t leave us. He’s a legend and the players, fan and club adore him to death.

Let me surprise you all. if and that is a big if. If van Persie leave us to la liga it will be the end of his career. He would not fit. Look at many dutchmen who wasted their time there. The dutchman at our neighbours along with the kid at Everton were some who were bought for a lot of money. Look what happened?
Van Persie should listen to wise words that he should sign a new contract. That fabregas went to Barca is another matter coz he is not only Spanish, he is catalan and that is more than Van Persie. Retire a legend like Bergkamp.

You do not need to talk a lot about this. But I would repeat what GunFrogg has said ,’As an Arsenal fan, I am very happy RVP his playing for the club. As an RVP fan, I think he is wasting his time and talent with Arsenal.’
Never are we going to get anyone capable of having an impact, to take a load off RVP’s shoulders. We will keep on giving Djourou and the likes contract extensions and argue that he is a good squad player. Then we cannot buy players beacuse we cannot afford wages and we have Diaby who can play there and so on…….

RVP won’t go to madrid. If he duz give us 80 mill or ronaldo in exchange. That’s da onli fing that wud b reasonable. Arsenal need to increase the maximum wage limit up a bit at least. RVP deserves it. And sorry but I don’t see wenger making big signings this summer either. Wud b suprised and happy if we see neymar or hazard being unveiled lol

frankly, I don’t think this posting was news at all. RVP says it would be exciting to play at Real Madrid; who wouldn’t say that? then, you come back and tell us he also said he would find it difficult to leave London. this wasn’t a story; pure conjecture to facilitate more of the same. Wenger is not reading this thread, RVP is not reading this thread. The things we post do not make a difference to the team. therefore, let’s talk about ‘credible’ stories because all this site does is manage to raise the reader’s blood pressure one moment only to lower it the next.
Anyone else get this?

All depends on whether we qualify for champs lge or win a trophy. Otherwise all we can do is hope for the best. But you couldn’t blame him at that age. He deserves the chance to win trophys and play for s club like real. I’d wish him good luck. I’d get hazard & giroud with the cash. Doubt they’d come tho if we don’t qualify . Arsenal till I die

RVP will go and he should go. Wenger and the board have had the warnings for some years now with the departures of nasri and cesc primarily for wanting to win silverware and it can be argued money as well.
im not negative, just realistic and as someone pointed out what ambition has a club that gives djourou another 3year deal and hillwood not concerned if we qualify for champs league. As a football club we are the least ambitious of any i can think of. We maybe in the top third of the premier league, but we dont aspire to any higher goal. In relative terms, teams like qpr and norwich, by virtue of trying to stay in the prem, show more ambition.
I used to think of wenger as a winner but how can a “winner” just go along with the situation as it stands….joke signings (aside from the brilliant oxo)and the best players leaving???

Real Madrid have the history & glamour label attached to them & who wouldn’t wanna play for them & be part if their proud history BUT…… Going there to win trophies? Erm I can remember seasons at the bernabeau without silverware quite recently… So he should say to A.W ” listen, bring in perhaps hazard, goetze & Pato or podolski & I’ll sign a new contract, deal?”
Can’t say fairer than that…

Although it may seem like it, it would not be the end of the world if he chose to leave. It would be very difficult to replace him yes and I would hate to see him go but the team would make due as they have done without Nasri and Fabregas. It would be no different than when Henry left or When Ronlado left United. Again would hate to see him go but arsenal will come out strong still next season.

Even for 100m rvp sold. wenger wudnt wnt to spend 20m on a quality one. he wil spend below 5m. n the profit is for the board going to the midnyt club.

if he is to go make sure we get what he is worth this time unlike cesc. Van persie is our main man, but mainly because others have not contributed in the goals department. If he goes to real m or barca he could follow other dutch masters like hunterlaar and robin who won nothing out there and are both in the german league now. We need to get a ready made replacement as part of the deal like benzema plus cash. As we dont want to sell and they want him

Really surprised to see so many of you surprised!
The only way he would consider staying is if he gets a substantial pay rise and Arsenal win a trophy.
With the tight lot we have running the club they will never give him the salary he could earn elsewhere and considering how greedy they are they will also jump at the chance of cashing in on RVP.
As for winning a trophy, as much as we would all love for it to finally happen I don’t think even the deluded wenger brigade believe it’s possible.

If you are a footballer and you have the choice of playing at Arsenal- no ambition for sporting success, pattern of selling their best players, profit maximisation the chief priority, comparatively insufficient wages, atmosphere at home matches more and more subdued OR Real- collecting the world’s superstar players whenever available and always looking to improve the team, trophies a true priority, extravagant wages, fanatical home support- sunshine, rich history of continued success, sexy tanned latina women etc etc ……….. what would you do?

As Gunners we will wish him best of luck. A team is accomplished with over twenty five players, for him to leave is pain but everyone needs a greener pasture. Its nature of human being seeing your neighbour has a better baby than yours, youll only regreat once you own it. Not a surprise admiring others while you have hold yours in hand. Dont forget to do wonders for Us before you leave, a bird in hand is not like two in a bush. Man Wenger you should work hard to get replacement. ORANGE PASSE.

Any player wants to win silverware. RvP is a great player and is top of his form, but unfortunately has only won 2 trophies in his 8 years at Arsenal. It does not look like that tally will go up anytime soon with the gunners, unless Wenger signs one or two marquee players this summer that will really boost our chances to win something. If they really want to keep him, I would get rid of the deadwood in our squad who are sapping all the wages, and give RvP part of that financial gain as a salary increase. Let’s face it, atm RvP is probably in the top 5 strikers in the world. Selling him and getting another striker in would only make the bank account look good, but weaken our team. Sell deadwood, buy 2 QUALITY players, and increase RvP’s wages to 130k a month and we will keep the dutch wizard and win silverware.
I would really hate to see him go as he has been my favorite player since he joined Arsenal. If he stays he will be forged into eternal legend status at Emirates. If he goes, well he will still be remembered, but not as much of a legend.
