Van Persie: Arsenal will still make Top Four (and win the Champions League and the FA Cup!)
Robin Van Persie is acting like a true Arsenal captain by issuing a rallying call to players and fans alike by trying to instil confidence that there are still trophies possible for the Gunners this season.
Many Arsenal fans think that they are more likely to win at cash bingo games online than to win a domestic trophy with this team, and the Champions League is only a dream for now, but Van Persie refuses to give up just yet.
“We are all committed to doing the very best we can to bring success to The Emirates.· he said in the Sun. “We are not giving up on a top-four finish, no way.
“Losing to Manchester United was a setback — but it is not a knockout blow.
“The way this season is going I think it’s pretty safe to say there will be a lot more surprises before the Premier League season is over.
“There’s plenty of games still left, we have recovered from reverses like this before and we will win again.
“So anybody writing us off is making a mistake.
“This could still be a good season for us.
“We have the FA Cup to look forward to and the Champions League.
“We will all be giving 100 per cent to make sure we bring one of those trophies home, hopefully both of them.
“Let’s all stick together and fight.”
Well said Robin, but after three defeats in a row there are very few Arsenal fans that could have your confidence in winning something this year. But let’s hope that the team do start fighting for each other, and not AGAINST each other!

You might argue that he didnt want the Ox off. If the Russian was so valuable, then RVP wouldn’t have reacted. He knew who the replacement would be. He knows what we know. So it doesn’t matter if you are Captain Fantastic or Captain Invincible. If you are out of form and out of touch you don’t play. Shows the lack of in depth quality at the club.

Well,even if RVP said this(which I don’t believe),what else was he supposed to say? That we are losers? And might play in the Europa League? LMFA..
For me,finishing with a top 4 position is gonna be difficult,except our key-injured players make a miraculous recovery b4 mid-Febuary(which is impossible),Our only chance of a silverware this season is the FA Cup.Nuff Said.

with great respect rvp, why are u making excuses, for wengers. substitution, every one at the emirates, and millions on tv around the world saw ur reaction, dont deny it. ox had just set u up for the goal. u knew he would do it again , but as soon as wenger subbed him for arshavin, u realised it would not happen and that arsenal had lost the game, aswell as wenger losing the plot again.
if you belive in wenger so much, why such a bad reaction from u, i guess u love the boss so much,and belive in what he is doing to the great club, you will still be at arsenal next season, after another trophy less season, and man city offer 30 million for u.?

He is the captain, he is obliged to say such things even if he knows in his heart we don’t have a chance of winning the CL. Our best shot is the F.A Cup, but hey Wenger and the board still said its not a priority. What a joke. We have a captain who is fired up to win, but a manager and board who would rather count pennies from selling RvP than actually using him and quality players they can afford to buy and WIN the F.A Cup and CL, and make MORE money at the same time, than backing the captain and ambition of the team. The whole lot of them, Kroenke, Wenger and the board need to f*ck off. Tired of sugar coating things for these assholes. Our players are getting no support from them.

This is exactly what I would our Captain should say. Everyone knows that when your in in a tight corner, your leaders will tell you that “we all need to stick together” when the going gets tough in the hope that things will turn round and all the flowers in the garden will bloom. I remember being told everything would be OK if we worked harder and tried that little bit more, just weeks before I was made redundant! I’m not knocking Robin, as this is what is needed when heads start to drop. If however he really believes that we will win the Champions League, I’ll have some of what he’s taking, it sounds the business. Love Arsenal, Love the Gunners, Love the Fans

Anything is possible this season. We saw this happen at the start of the season. Premier league is getting tougher and tougher every season. To be able to lead well demands you beleive in what you are doing so you are able to encourage others to follow your example. Creating a shared vision is important at this point in time for people like RVP who is at a leadership position.
Please all Gooners, keep together and keep fighting…Top four finish is still a good thing to achieve and who knows if you stick together a trophy would not be a bad reward at the end of the season….Be it Champions league or FA..

the spine of the team is shezeney, kosh, verm, wilshere and vp. everytime i look at it like that its just as good if not better than united, citys, and chelsea’s spine so why doesnt it work? any one of those 5 would walk into any team in europe so why is it not happening? mindboggling!! or maybe wilshere is the missing link? still like to see united go the whole season without rooney, or the spuds without bale, and weve all seen how vunerable city are without toure. lets just wait and see what happens when jack gets back and that spine i mentioned finally all get on the pitch in there true positions, maybe cl is possible then especially if we can avoid barca and real, dortmund are as good as anything else left in the comp bar them two and we brushed them aside!

@Toby, you hit the nail on the head. Wilshere IS the missing link. Our midfield is weak, except for Song. Ramsey, Arteta, Benayoun, Rosicky just do not cut it. I have the time of day for Rosicky, at least he looks dangerous, makes space and goes forward, without losing the ball. Ramsey tries, but is to careless and his reaction time is not quick enough. He loses the ball far too often. Artea, consistent, but does not drive forward enough, always passing the ball sideways, never forward into dynamic and onto players up front making space and running into gaps. Benayoun, I like him, but he never made it at Liverpool or Chelsea, he’s a best a sub but not first team material.
We need Wilshere and another quality midfield signing, someone like Gotze.

absolutely love RVP even when were down he still belielves true captain. I only hope that he truly feels like this and it’s not just a smokescreen. We need to all pray he signs a new contract and if he does (this is for u mr wenger) spend some money on top class players to truly show the clubs ambition and repay RVP and us fans alike for our loyalty, and building a team around our best players ( RVP, WILSHERE)and not on hopefuls.By all means buy raw talent who will become stars, but atleast buy one like the OX who can really make a difference. I dont wont to sit here week in week out season after season wondering when we are going to truly be title contenders and fight for domestic success. The good ol’ days will return i do believe this, but not until those who have the power to make the change wake up and realise the problems rotting the club at the moment. GOONER 4 LIFE ALWAYS!
