Van Persie blames Howard Webb for Holland’s defeat!
Everybody in the world is in agreement that Spain fully deserved to beat Holland in last nights World Cup Final, but Robin Van Persie, along with a few other Dutch players, think that Howard Webb was instrumental in the Spain win, especially in the events leading up to Spain’s winning goal.
Van Persie was especially scathing about the English referee’s performance. “What was this man doing?” he said. “He made three big errors in extra time of a final! Believe me, this really hurts.
“Even after Heitinga’s red card I still felt we could be world champions. With penalty kicks we’d at least have had a 50% chance.”
“Iniesta should not have been on the pitch because he kicked Van Bommel. He also should have shown Puyol a second yellow card for trying to knock down Robben. The referee has been decisive.”
Wesley Sneijder was even more critical of Webb. “He has robbed us!” he ranted.
“This really is a disgrace to football. It really shouldn’t have happened. First I shot a free kick that hit the wall and then the Spanish keeper touched it before going behind. What does the referee do? The whistle was not for a corner.
“In the following attack, Iniesta is at first offside. Webb doesn’t whistle and then Iniesta gets the ball and scores,”
They can say what they like. I don’t think they will find anyone outside of Holland that are likely to agree with them!

Admin I agress with the dutch howard webb was poor both teams should of been dwn too 8 or 9 men nd holland were very unlucky but webb. In truth had a bad game all round
I know that Robin is disconsolate after the loss in the final. It is standard that referees do no see all controversial insidents in a match clearly. Even then, Howard Webb could have sent off a couple of Dutch players in the match. That he only sent off a single player shows that he was interested in some form of even contest ie with 11 players on both sides for most of the match. For the record I wanted Holland to win on the night.
The biggest non-call that Webb made is the one that led to the goal. He called for the Spain goal kick that led to the goal, which in fact was a Dutch corner. After Sneidjer free kick there were literally no Dutch players near the wall, the ball ricocheted off Cesc and went out on the goal line. Webb called for a goal kick which blew my mind as it was a clear as day corner from even the TV cameras and the Spanish goal started form that goal kick.
I won’t say the Dutch were robbed because Robben had a one on one with Casillas that he should have easily scored but Webb still managed to directly affect the result with his typical crap mediocre refereeing.
NO !!! NO !!! NO !!! Everybody is not in agreement, Spain won cos Webb was one-sided … the Spanish are cynical cheats and I feel very sorry for the Dutch.

just looking at the way they played, I honestly agree that Spain deserve to win. Robin was just so frustrated, after not scoring a single goal in the World Cup, then got beaten by Spain in the finals. I personally thought that they’re a bit lucky to have won against Brazil. I’m not a Holland hater tho’, I personally didn’t support any particular team during the World Cup. Just watching and enjoying the game

Open your eyes and see.. you are bound to agree with it.. BTW I’m outside Holland, from India. Agreed that Spain was the better side but the one crucial idiotic mistake made by Webb turned the result on its head. I’m undermining the significance of the word ‘result’ here.. Of course Webb gave Spain the advantage and denied Holland the opportunity to collect the biggest prize in sporting history!! That’s the end of it!

any1 who cant see that it was a poorly officiated game is a f.u.c.k.tard. How is it possible that a free kick clips the spanish wall and goes for a corner and called a goal kick?? Its so obvious that their is no Birght ORANGE shirt anywhere near the wall or the ball! and puyol always does his rugby challenge and never gets punished. If u consider Spain as deserved winners it is truly sad. It was like synchronized diving out there. Iniesta a chief offender and even Xavi’s dramatic dive inside the penalty box deserves a medal.What is football coming to?Are we so fooked that we give praise to a team that displayed such dishonesty through out the game? every challenge every touch (iniesta dived wen he felt the defender’s fingers brush against his boots)leads to a dive?
I think Howard was on the hand of Spain after they loose against switserland whole spain was furious on howard .

I suported holland in the final. Webb made the mistake of awardin a goal kick afta sneider’s free kick which lead 2 da goal.But lets O b serious, da biggest mistakes he made wer 2 keep van bommel & de jong as long as he did coz they r the ones who killed da game, they turned it into a brawl.All that 2 pliz da viewers wat a bad ref
i think they should stop crying, i was going for holland but they were just dirty and spoiled the game. they should have had at least 3 red card so they should count themselves lucky
I am from Malawi (Check the IP Add) and I fully agree with the orange. This guy has never impresed me. He always mess it up big time on big stage. ManU Vs Chelski, ManU Vs Gunners, Chelsea Vs Gunners when its Webb officiating it the post match news is always about him. He looks like Ovreb and officiates like him as well. How he missed that corner and foul on Elia is beyond me. The only thing he got it right is/was that he is English and thats why he was given 10/10 by the SUN. My goodness me.

everyone keeps telling me how great spain were and they deserved to win but until inesta scored they made ONE good chance, compare that to atleast 4 good chances for holland and of course if ‘diving’ roben HAD gone down instead of trying to score puyol would have had to go. assuming webb had the bottle to give him red

de jong should get a straight red with that kung fu kick and puyol should get the second yellow with that pull…..but both team did get away with it and i think its fair. holland just played negatively and turn it into an ugly game. IMO spain deserve the win, they were the better team between the two.

Here is the better question: What the hell was Van Persie doing, this entire World Cup? Trying not to score? He’s the biggest embarrassment of them all.
It does not matter now. Webb is a very poor example of fairness and consistency. He had several bookings that he ignored and several that were wrong. He is not competent as an official in sport.

It is supposed to see to it that the game is played farly and when they think it’s not then should take up some actions.
I mean, why the f**ck they are here, when England played against Germany and the referee did not accept the goal. THis match should have been replayed! But the FIFA let it go. How could u let go of a world cup match???

From the Netherlands: Spain fully deserved to win. But I think that both country’s were not playing a nice match. Holland should have gotten a red card for the so calles “kungfu kick” but I fully disagree that robben deserved a red card like everybody says. Webb made some stupid mistakes but so did the players. We are all human so we make mistakes. Maby they can solve this kind of trouble with technology you never know.
