Van Persie, Gibbs and Vermaelen added to injury list and Wenger gets worried…
Arsene Wenger was hoping for a good test for his Arsenal team this week as it was the last warm-up before the beginning of the Premiership and he put out the strongest team available to him, but not ony did it end in defeat, the Gunners also sustained a few injuries.
Walcott, Wilshere, Diaby, Nasri, Koscielny and (of course) Fabregas are already on the treatment table and today Wenger revealed the problems inflicted during todays defeat. He said: “Regarding Van Persie, it is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is. Gibbs has a muscular thigh problem and Vermaelen has a slight back problem.”
With Van Persie’s record of having ankle problems, the fans can only expect the worst, and we all know that Gibbs is also in and out of the treatment room. Vermaelen may be the biggest worry as he was expected to tighten up the defence after missing the whole of last season through injury.
A big problem could be the usual pre-season international games, as Arsenal always seem to get a couple of injury problems after these matches. Wenger himself admitted that things weren’t looking good.
“The injuries are making things difficult. We start the season next week and then we have a Champions League qualifier. We need to qualify and hopefully we won’t have any more injuries from the international matches. We could be hit hard if we lose any more.”
Am I the only one getting worried after a disastrous pre-season?

I spent some time today looking at old videos of the invincibles and its hard to say this, but as arsenal fans, i think we need to realise that glory days are long behind us and do not appear to be coming back. Soon Aston Villa, tottenham, newcastle and Everton will be our contenders.
Yet a part of he still has faith that Wenger will do something

This is really annoying news. Not because we are new to injury, but because we seem to pretend like we didn’t see it coming. Gibbs and Van Persie are almost injured by default and that translate to the necessity of adequate back-up. The addition of Gerv may suffice for VP’s absense, but how do we cope with the supposed first choice LB Gibbs’ absense? Traoure is calamitous and Verm too is beginning to seem as made of glass. I am pro-wenger but it will be tantamount to insanity if Wenger doesn’t try to ameliorate the choices we have in defense. I foresee eboue been deployed to LEFT back and song playing CB as †нє season begins if †нє situation isn’t arrested promptly. Its a shame that a week to the commencement of †нє season, we aren’t prepared. No thanks to barcelona, Nasri and Wengers hesitation to be more aggressive in †нє transfer market

Wenger should not gamble, let him as a matter of urgency go to transfer market.We are now face with a delima in our hands, instead of wenger to buy players in time he will not and wait for last minute so that he can go for cheap players. I still maintain that wenger is protecting someone’s interest in arsenal. Even an unborn arsenal supporter knows that arsenal can no go anywhere with the present team, i pray that we don’t get humilited by udinese. Arsenal players management and fans are getting panicky we have allow mediocrity from the press get into our system. Instead of focusing on the task at hand, we are busy chasing and buying gas about how the club is doomed if Nas and Fab leaves and us missing out on a million ‘big’ names. Lets do us a favour and relax.
Buying may seem the immediate solution but I foresee a situation where even we’ll soon run short excuses because we are trying to deal with symptoms and not the causes. I think with the players we have, a little bit of calm and focus can get us anywhere.

Fact is gibbs,varmaelen,van persie,are always injured,traore ang squillaci what type of defenders are these and jenkinson only knows how to kick forward. I am a staunch arsenal fan, but I am happy that we start with problems. I think it is the only way arsenal and the board shall ever see that they need to invest in the team. If some changes are not made b4 the season starts then it’s doom for arsenal.We presently have six or seven players on injury list with no suitable replacements except for RVP(Gervinho).I see arsenal at the bottom of the table after the first three matches(though God forbid) unless AW splashes the cash not on useless players we currently have, but on qualities.

Up to now i have been looking forward to the season, not wanting to beleive the general consensus concerning AFC.
Now i have realised i cannot refuse to acknowledge that AFC is on the downward trail.
There seems to be multiple issues wrong with this team now and it looks like disappointment a plenty during the season to come.
O how the mighty are falling/have fallen.
Either AW has not got as full control of the team affairs as we think he has, or he is as (substitute words here) as many have repeatedly said.
Looking at his face during the last game, i realise that the man is well worried, and looks lost.
This team is thrown onto the field on their own, AW might as well be at home during the games, which may well benefit us in the CL match where he is banned?

Wenger himself has admitted that we missed most of our players yesterday!Meaning he has no faith in most of those fellows that had Arsenal shirts on, how he intends to strengthen this team without a number of new experienced signings is still a puzzle to me but i am willing to wait and see. So after yesterday’s defeat Wenker said according to the official website “You could see that we missed many players…”
I am sure all arsenal fans are familiar with this excuse and you can be sure with the injuries mounting, it will be used again.
Had the whole summer to bring in players and still haven’t even replaced clichy and bring in a CB. He thinks the defence is great with Squllacci, djourou and kos. Every opponent who has done their homework knows that Arsenal is weak in set pieces as well as in general – defence and goalkeeping. AKBs, please stop kidding yourselves. How often have opponents tried to take advantage of the current goalkeepers?!?!? We haven’t got any NEW goalies in either, so it is the same batch that will be taken advantage of.
He also thinks along with the AKBs that the good players will never be injured throughout the season and then when they do, he uses his rubbish excuses.

However, I must say the team needs a backbone of steel!
Last year we fell apart because of the stupidest of mistakes at crucial junctures. That spells of inexperience in pressure situations.
The team has the skill but suspect leadersip. If I made someone capatain, I would want that player to bleed my colours. Not make rash and ridiculous staements.
Finally, the team is too fragile, we have tremendous skill but few players with staying power and sufficient size to hold their own for an entire season.
Defense is required and a defender should be captain or a holding midfielder. Someone of experiece like a mid 25 to 30 year old with a bite. We need a couple of trees out their to go with the skill. Is anyone hearing me out there!
Leave Arsene alone. Again he is doing as best he can with a limited budget, the club is still payng for the new stadium and facilities yet is still managing to hold on to a Champions league spot. However, this will be a watershed season, the compettion is geting tougher and any one of 7 or 8 teams can take the top 4 spots.
What the club really needs is a new billionaire to invest n the club and players.

One problem with Arsenal f.c is that the bench or second eleven is not as good as the first eleven. I mean when a player injures, there should be a good if not better replacement for the injured player. Look at the likes of man.utd, chelsea,man.city, the have a second team for substitude, that is a good as the first, just in case of injury. With the league yet to start, arsenal has over 6 players of the first team injured and there are no better replacement if u ask me. That war what cost them against Benfica. And arsenal has a history of players prone to injury. Player like, r.v.p,walcott,cesc,ramsey,kocieny e.t.c. I think wenger should invest; if he wants to remain in the top flight not even winning any trophy. I still believe,love and support gunner till i breath my last air on earth.

I think your correct with this!!!! I also think we still need to invest in some fresh quality experienced players.. we could all sit on here with our wish list! But it erks me when I see other clubs go out pay the money asked for the players they need/want, and we haggle like where buying from some market stool holders. Yet at the same time we turn down good offers for players who don’t want to play for us?! I agree some players we are looking at thier prices do look a bit steep but i think with an extra 40/50m in the bank for players sold aswell as our SUBSTANTIAL WAR CHEST (lol????) we could have wrapped up these signings that all us gunners keep looking on line to read about?!?!?!? Why won’t he spend ?? What is the reason im bewildered by it . Everyone can clearly see we are lacking in so many areas . Yes when the whole team is fit we can beat anybody but this never happens our backup is simply not good enough . We are desperate for atleast 2 cb and a new left back kieran gibbs is useless . AKBs are the Arsene Knows Brigade – people like SAVVY1 who defends Wenker, makes up excuses for him and thinks that he knows best. They can’t even think for themselves and even when things are obviously done wrong, they blindly follow him.
It is due to AW and AKBs that the club is not able to progress.

You guys need to relax, its quite clear we do not have that many players injured its due to the international friendlies coming up.
All of you talking about relegation are fucking ridiculous. You are talking about the players that made up the team of last year who competed very well for all four competitions, beat barcelona at home and got robbed in the second leg, final of the league cup, led the premiership temporarily but threw away to many silly points.

some people say that they hope it wouldn´t work out for arsenal coming two weeks so arsene would realize the problem. well, he hasn´t done last 4-5 years. why would he realize now? he has run out of idea and motivation. he is a broken man and therefore a very bad boss….out of our club….

Defensively we are screwed, squillaci on the starting line-up can only be translated into 2-4 goals to be conceded.
And the other problem is that we should be fine with vela and gervinho up front. But then the fact is that I’m afraid chamack will be first choice, so i don’t expect many goals. Hence it looks like it will be most certainly a loss, and probably we will not make it into the UCL.
Someone should have bought that CB and that “super quality” EARLIER!! OR AT LEAST TRY TO GET THEM NOW!!!!

u 4get as well the fact that arsene sold the stadium name 4 100m approx n spent next 2 nothing 4 6 seasons straight n lastly qualifying 4 CL every year which rakes an average of 20m a season NOT 2 forget we pay the highest ticket prices in england, add 2 this (as mentioned) the fact we sold flamini, ade, toure, hleb, henry n many more
