Van Persie is more important to Arsenal now than Fabregas was last year
When Cesc Fabregas betrayed Arsenal to return to his boyhood club, many thought it would spell trouble for the Gunners as they had lost their inspirational skipper. Then, Van Persie stepped up. Goals, assists, flair and leadership were provided by the Dutchman. More importantly, Van Persie gave Arsenal his heart and loyalty. He reiterated his commitment to the club and he is now a player Arsenal have been searching for quite some time now.
Already up to 17 goals this season, Van Persie is in the prime of his career, enjoying the form of his life. If the Flying Dutchman can keep this up, Arsenal could have a push at major honours this season.
To be honest, Arsenal’s good performances so far could be summed up by three words – Robin Van Persie. He has been our saving grace so far, banging in goal after goal, saving Arsenal time and time again. Many critics are saying that without our skipper, Arsenal are spineless.
I beg to differ immediately. Arsenal have many more talents in her roster. Attacking flair and creativity are all in abundance in the team. Gervinho, Walcott, Wilshere, Arteta are very skilled and incredible players. Flashes of brilliance from players like Rosicky, Ramsey, Arshavin also show Arsenal have great backups to their already lethal offense. These players create Van Persie’s goals. Without them, Van Persie may not be as productive. Leadership is also evident from Arteta, Vermaelen and even Mertesacker and Szczesny, giving their utmost for the team.
I feel the reason Van Persie is scoring so many goals would be that he puts in effort and passion in his game and he feels it is his responsibility as captain of Arsenal. Another reason would be that Arsene has built a team to fit to Van Persie’s needs and thus leading to Robin VanPersie being the best and most profilic striker in the premier league.
People always find a way to criticise when a team or a player is playing well. Gooners should all trust Arsene and the team and believe they will bring success to the Emirates soon.
P.S Pay whatever it takes to keep Van Persie at the club!

fabregas was a good captain but last year he didnt live up to his high expectations because he was injured. as for robin i think everything has been said! a good run of prem games now (excluding tuesday) to get our teeth in to. who knows maybe even end that unbeaten city run

you completely contradict your entire article, you go on saying how its not all about van persie and how we have enough quality without him and then say ‘p.s. pay whatever it takes to keep van persie in the squad’. AOC is first team material, hes impressed so much in every game hes been put into including champions league which is a massive step for such a youngster. Arshavin and gervinho are massively off form and this boy has shown he is raring to go. Put AOC in the first team and we will win games. Arsenal 4 life!
Opinions divided. What do you think?

I disagree with the opening line of this report. I dont think you can call cesc leaving Arsenal ‘betrayal’. He gave years of service to the club and it was inevitable that, at some point, he would return to his hometown. It appeared that he stayed a season longer than he wanted to and I believe that he really was longing to return to his friends, family, homeland and his dreamteam. Dont forget, he left home at just 16 years old to come to Arsenal. Now Nasri is a different matter all together

Robin van Persie reminds me of Henry at his best. Henry may have done it for longer, but the awe and confidence I have in Robin when he strikes the ball that it will end up in the goal is reassuring to say the least.
His desire and love for Arsenal, is also remenisent of Henry. His leadership qualities and skill rub off on other players, as does his confidence.
A spineless team is harsh, people tend to over look players who do the important things that create the chances for people like van Persie to score.
Szczesny – Vermaelen – Sagna – Song – Walcott – Wilshere – van Persie
That is the spine of Arsenal.
We also have Koscielny who in time could be as important as Vermaelen and Gervinho (when he learns to shoot)

yeah i agree van persie has become very important than fabregas , but we must not forget the effort the team have put in as a whole , for example DORTMUND ARE ONE OF THE BEST pressing defending teams in the world at the moment for their work ethic and desire to win the ball back and when we played them in the champions league we showed them a thing or too about pressing but not onli to defend well but when we have the ball no team apart from barca can touch us .. and we dont have fabregas or nasri to orcestrate play and create , its arteta ,ramsey and song who have worked hard and there work has gone unoticed to some…

Those of you who are slating Gervinho will soon be forced to eat you words when he turns world class. The only thing missing from his game is banging goals. He eliminates defenders every time he gets the ball on the line and gets crosses them for RVP to convert. As a winger the only ingredient missing is scoring when he cuts in or finds himself in front of goal.

last yr fabregas keep on being injured to avoid being playing.he insisted to go back to barca thats why he cnt even focused.jst see when he cme back to hes hometown.he become xplosive! he show hes true quality.we need captai that determined n rly loves the club.jst see wat rvp trying to do.he will keep mke the club afraid n to show their ambition.thats why wenger shud spend these january. i think walcot folow the step of rvp too.wenger shud pursuit hem to stay n cnvince hem he wil gt that role in two r three yrs tym more n by than walcot replacing rvp in the forward..while chambo step up on hes position.i hope wenger wud tie rvp for two r three yrs time.f possibly cn retires at arsenal.when he reach 30s,i think walcot wud step there.hope he remain patient like chambo does.

No way FabriGas should be considered as betreyed arsenal as S. Nasri who is doing nothing like did in Arsenal for Man. City . Cesk stayed as much as he could , what makes him frustrared in asrsenal is luck of world class players that could bring silverware to the emerates and it is attractive to be transsfered to one of the best homeland club in the world. But thanks to god we have another hereo in the squad RVP.He is so importand to the club, no doubt but we should be greatful for cesk FABRIGAS!!Thanks where ever you are csk.!!

Its very unfair to say Fabregas betrayed Arsenal. Until the time he finally left, he had made it known that he would love to return there someday. When Barca started beckoning two seasons ago, AW should have made adequate preparation for his long term replacement. But even at that, Nasri who should have been the one to replace him eventually was the player that betrayed us. Now we have RVP in another situation, I hope the board will provide funds for AW to buy a quality replacement in the January window The December period is always busy and we all know how injury prone RVP can be. He needs a ready made backup as we gradually approach the period when our season usually crumble.
AOC definitely need more first team appearances. Let’s repackage Chamakh back to Bordeaux, he doesn’t fit the gunner’s set up.

I cannot question cesc’s comitment and humility during his arsenal days.but i tink wengar gave him captaincy 2 tie him down rather than his leadership qualities.i think van persie is in d class of veira and tony adams.captains who can do anytin 2 keep their team on a winning lane, something dat fabregas lacked.though he is not d only player in d field but i want 2 believe dat van persie as a captain is d main reason why we are not stil strugling.

suport our player, dnt need to say they’re sh*t.he hv done a lot too with hes assist n yet coming the best of em.hes nt yet cn prove that with such fan like u.no wonder they lose their cnfidence if we hv many one like you.when he start on scoring for us,hope u wip kis some baboon as* or go suporting cashri. i stil think gervinho is even better than him.he is even more direct,he stil needed time.he cntribute a lot,he hd a lot to improve n under wenger he wil. do u love to see arshavin back on that role or bendtner??
yes fabregas gves evrythng,bt he does not last yr.he dnt feel like wna play for us last yr.i knw nt many realised that.bt as a profesional footballer he shud nt do that.bt stip respect him,hes heart is nt with us at that time anymre bt yet he stil gves evrythng despite keep being injured. cashri is poor in the nxt half of the season.clichy remain the same.santos wud b even btter.no lose feelngs without cashri n clichay. gt rid some of them like almunia, squid, denilson, arshavin, bendtner, chamakh permanently.

It’s not that I don’t support our players, I love them all, but I am really getting pissed off with Gervinho’s inability to score. He makes good assists and runs all over the pitch, but without finishing in his position he is just useless. And yes I hope I will kiss baboon as*, because it will mean Gervinho scoring regulary!

The only difference between Fabregas and Nasri was the manner in which they left. Nasri was more straight up about his annoyances and reasons, where as Fabregas avoided any sort of confrontation with media and fans. Let’s not forget his negative attitude, not wanting to train with the first team and ‘fake’ injuries. He will never ever be an Arsenal legend, I don’t care if he was 16 when he joined us, the only reason he did was because he couldn’t cut it at Barca at the time. Just when he becomes a star player and people start to recognize him, including his old dream club, he jumps ship…and an agonizing jump it was. It put unnecessary pressure on our team and manager. Good riddance to both of them.

Fab was class but he’s gone what disappoints me is the way
things were done by him and Barca we were robbed and Barca
then bragged about it we should never sell another player to them, anyway RVP is showing that he is more important to
us than Fab was SORRY but that is true.

Even before Cesc left I still thought that RVP was the most important player.
I think that the fact that he is scoring a lot of goals proves that the team playing 433 is working perfectly, rather than meaning that we are a 1 man team.
