Van Persie Is Unsure Where His Future Lies – But He Wants To Stay In England!
Robin van Persie still has over 18 months to run on his current contract, and while Arsenal are keen for him to renew he has put talks of extending his contract on hold for now. His latest comments to the Time newspaper will do little to inspire confidence at the Emirates though.
He sees his future in England, but is not sure where that future will be. He said, “I do not know (what I will do), I cannot predict the future. Everybody makes his own history and only afterwards can you see how that went.”
Over the past week there have been stories in the papers and all over the internet about Manchester City lining up the Dutchman as a replacement for Carlos Tevez. There are linked with anybody and everybody though aren’t they, but none the less when the words Arsenal, Man City and transfer are all in the same sentence you start to get a little worried.
Arsenal fans want van Persie to stay, but after everything that has happened in recent times some are fearing the worst and the Dutchman did not rule out moving to another team in the Premier League. He said, “I do not know. For one thing, as an indication, when I came to Arsenal we immediately beat City. But in recent years much has happened in England. Nevertheless, I think the Premiership is still the best league in the world, it gives me everything I want.”
Lets just hope that everything he wants is at Arsenal and not at Manchester City. Never say never, but I just can’t see Robin van Persie at Man City can you?

well city has the ability to give him both larger wages and silverware (both of which arsenal can’t). so the question is not whether he will go to city but for which of the reasons will he go….
Opinions divided. What do you think?

this is turning out into a slow death for me and Arsenal, i just can’t bear it anymore
if van persie leaves we’re done for. f*** the system of football these days, especially in the premier league. all this big money and investment is ruining everything, but to be honest i think arsenal have no choice but to join in the game and let usmanov takeover.

OK, I see all are thinking Van Persie is heading out of the door but I think not unless he is a fool. Why? VP has never played a whole season and we know why. If he is that ungrateful to Arsenal let him go and be happy therafter.
I bet he will not have a chance to comeback when he injured at another club at 30/31 he will be after 2013 when his contract run out. If he does not want to renew contract I would bench him if I were Wenger but even if he is sold one injury its that it would take and career would be over.

I’m really starting to get pissed off with the financial bullying that man city are doing. FIFA need to put a stop to this. There should be a rule to how many player’s you can take off one team over a certain amount of years. this is becoming a joke. Don’t go city, they don’t know how to win in Europe.

Wenger,Gizadis,Kroenke,
You are simply killing the club. VP is right to leave. As a rational human being, he has to have ambition.
You are simply killing the club’s goodwill and brand equity.

Let him go if money is all that matters to him. The wage bill is already twice that of TOT HOT. If his outrageous salary isn’t enough then let him FO! Christ, I’d take as a years salary anyone of the Arsenal’s players weekly wages to play for Arsenal. The game is full of mercenaries. Does no one have the club in their blood anymore? With the recent landlady v Sky ruling there will be hopefully less money in the game to spoil things.

it’s quite simple, if he’s free of injuries till january, he will leave, at his age it’s the only solution, he’s not to blame, we all know the problem, we need a wind of change, but where should it come from????

Some idiots here think that RVP can’t & won’t leave…and what logics they have cited…pure balls….
Of course he is free to leave if he wants to…why should we feel bad…any self-respecting individual should have a choice & say on his decisions… we fans can only hope he stays…but we can’t dictate…
The only dictator that we have is that ner AW – TILL he is there u would see lots of exodus & rsenal being dumped down the drain..you might feel bad with my words…but mark them…Let’s have a change of guard..any other Manager with fresh ideations… we can only get better…

hey guys! its been ages!
Im thinking that RvP is just threatening, for higher wages. But he will leave if we do not get into the UEFA CL unfortunatly.
I think its time for change, we should really get Bergkamp in and Wenger out, why? Because Berkamp truly loves the club, just as much as we, the fans, do.

IF van Persie is stupid enough to start this shit, sell him in Jan! A clear-out of the Arsene Wenger retards may just be what the good doctor prescribed for The Arsenal! Remnants like the fore-mentioned with their childish mentality may infect younger and newer players with their fragile nature! In their stead, with the good dough from their sales, Wenger should look to start anew by bringing in people who love the club and are proud to wear the RnW! AND Arsene, note that AFC is not ready for another long period of fruitless negotiations! Show the world that you got balls coz there is doubt! People like RvP are now exploiting that weakness on your part!!!

@Ellidinho: wtf? Van Persie ain’t stupid, it aint his fault that the wage structure and what not is fucked. I DONT want van persie to leave no way, but man something needs to be done. The board need to open their fucking eyes, ill fully respect RvPs wishes because at the end of the day, if you were a football player yourself, wouldnt you want to win trophies?
People spout about loyalty and shit, but to be fair, for the players, loyalty also depends on how much you win, the more you win the more you ll love the team you play for. SIX long years its been, soon to be seven. Do you blame Robin for wanting to win himself a trophy at least once in his career? He is 28 you know.. As much as i LOVE arsenal to fucking bits, and dont want robin to leave; im sorry but im not going to blame any self respecting star player for wanting to leave the club, thats that.

News like this makes me sick! I would expect a little loyalty from RVP. I have so much respect for him as a player, just as I did nasri. RVP is one of my favourite players in the world, but if he leaves arsenal now, especially now that he wants to remain in england, I will begin to resent him just as I do nasri. What has happened to loyalty in the epl? We need to keep RVP no matter what. People are worried about city picking up RVP when man utd and chelsea are also serious threats. Ferguson has clearly indicated that he admires RVP, what is holding him back from picking him up. Arsenal is spiraling out of control and if we do not invest heavily and remain in the champions league we will no longer be able to keep our players, let alone attract top players from around the world. We need to keep RVP and I will be very disappointed and concerned if he were to leave.
Gooner 4 life.

Ok have to get this off my chest but for real now,,,,,, if this is true I will be so mad at RVP its unreal no club has stuck by such a injury prone player like we have for Rvp specially if its meant to be your main target man we give him time and time and time this man has never played a whole season but we still stand by him,, his been with us for how long and its only now his got to 100 goals thats saying something for how much his always out,
The season he plays all of it and gets 30+ goals then yeah I would understand if he wanted to leave coz where not wining anything,, but im sorry and people may not like what I say but his part to blame for why we havent won anything too for always being out yeah thats right I said it,,,,
Remember that season Ade got 30+ goals where the hell was Rvp had he been around banging in goals like ade that season we would have won,, loyalty dose come in to play here when your talking bout RVP we stuck by him with all his injury BS, he better stick by us and help get us out this mess…………rant over

In life everybody has ambitions and for a soccer player those are trophies which the current arsenal squad can’t win. I will still understand his decision although I would love to still see him at Arsenal and besides the lack of trophies/ambition and our wage structure, any player at arsenal has to carefully consider their future when approaching their 30′s as we normally offer them 1year contracts or sell them regardless of their loyalty, i mean you will never see veterans at arsenal and RVP knows that.Where is our own Giggs,Scholes etc we sold Thierry Henry, Vieira etc so where is the loyalty if any on the part of the club to players that have served us well

@SA gooner. COULDN’T AGREE WITH YOU MORE. EVERY PLAYER AT ARSENAL KNOWS WENGER IS VERY STUBBORN NOT TO GIVE PLAYERS OVER 30 MORE THAN A YEAR’S CONTRACT. VAN PERSIE WOULD RATHER GO FOR FINAL BIG PAY CHEQUE. LOOK AT HOW WENGER TREATED PIRES, VIEIRA, LAUREN, GILBERTO ETC PLAYERS WHO COULD BE HELPING THE YOUTH RIGHT NOW. AND HE GIVES SILVESTRE AND SQUILLACI CONTRACTS WHEN THEY ARE OVER 30. MANAGER HAS TO GO
