Van Persie – My future is a private matter, but I’ve been at Arsenal for 8 years..
The new Arsenal captain Robin Van Persie has been with the Holland national team this week on international duty, and with many rumours going around that he will be joining Samir Nasri at Manchester City next summer there was no doubt that he would be questioned about his future by Dutch journalists.
I will simply quote his words here and let you make your own mind up as to what he means. He said: “I am not going to make any statements about my future. Not now, not for a while.
“I’ve been at Arsenal eight years and that is quite extraordinary these days. Which is why I treasure this. What my future will bring, nobody knows.
“I can understand people are curious, but I am just dedicated to everything at Arsenal right now.
“Since November last year I’ve played lots of games, scored lots of goals and made assists.
“Twelve months’ non-stop football is doing me well. I feel that I am still growing in form. It is the first time in quite a few years that I can experience that.
“My future is a private matter and when at some point there could be some news, people will hear it. And I do realise that we have to get things going at Arsenal, but I have full confidence that we are going to do okay.
“Our start is not good. I would have felt better if we had won the derby.
“We didn’t and right now there is a negative feeling. But I assure you, it is not all that negative.
“It is up to us, players and staff, to sort it out on the pitch.”
Last year when Van Persie was asked about whether he would extend his contract at Arsenal, he made it quite clear that he had no intention of leaving Arsenal, and he only wanted to win trophies under Arsene Wenger. Everyone loved his words as they proved that there were still loyal players around at the Emirates, but this interview shows a completely fifferent attitude.
Could he really be planning to leave next summer? Is eight years too long to stay at one club?

RVP is on his way out! Blame u-know-who? The man should look at himself in the mirror and ask; ‘why has it come to this?’
If we had paid up for the players identified at the beginning of the season, they all would have long gelled and our position in the league would have been a lot better! But no rsene left it too late as usual to do business. I still want him to continue to prove to the whole world he can get us out of the hole he has dug us and then we shall see.
Am I upset? Yes you bet!

Bye bye RVP. Nobody will blame you! You were part on a one man team. Its impossible to keep that up. Good luck. Curse of the armband strikes again. Give it to the squid!

If City stump up the cash, I have no doubt that Arsenal will sell.

van persie should remember out of those 8 yrs he has being in arsenal, he has never played half season 4 us due to his perpectual injuries and had been part of our inability to wining a trophy 4 d past 7 yrs because because it was so so injuries when we needed him most. same goes to fab4.this is d first time van persie will be fully fit and on top of his game since he joined arsenal.we need u most now bcos arsenal had always being there 4 u all those days of ur injuries. the ball is in your court.

RVP should remember that when he was not playing, Arsenal were there for him, he had all the support from the fans. I believe he will not be disrespectful like the others who likes bigger wages. He wanted to be like Bergkamp, so be loyal.

What a shame it may end up like this. On one hand I can understand him wanting to go because lets face it we are struggling, and have been for some time. But on the other hand he has been constantly injured, we have shown him alot of loyalty and patience, other clubs maybe would have flogged him on a long time ago. It would be nice for him to show us some loyalty and stick around for a few more years, but I guess there is no such thing as loyalty anymore in football. only £££££.

RVP will stay if the management team is willing to spend money for world class players this January.I believe every player wants to win trophy. RVP doesn’t have many years left, he will wait to see what Arsenal FC will do come January. If the Club say they are in the building process well RVP is long gone don’t even think twice. Arsenal, we need results not for tomorrow or future but Today. So better be safe than sorry!!!!!

If we do lose him for free, it does’nt matter cuz the greedy board will just pocket the cash.
I hate the arsenal board!!!!!!

It says it all when our supposed best player with a poor injury record is made captain then speculates about his future. Only at Arse-nil…. If RVP does go it won’t be for money but rather his desire to have some silverware. U can’t knock him (or Nasri) for that. Market forces? yeah right like Mancini forced us to sign Chamcrap, Squilla, and play Djouwho. Remember Aw turned down the chance to sign Kompany before city paid the £8m for him. How much now?? Rvp dowatchyalike

Any decent players wil leave arsenal knowing the fact arsenal will never compet for trophy again, arsenal fc has become a busynes its not football club anymore.the board are gready n the mnagers obsession to prove critics thats he can win trophy wid kids is dragging our great club to ground.them akb are helping wengrr by deffending his ego and his selfishness.

How many more players must leave to awaken the board that signing good players by splashing the necessary cash is necessary for silverware?
If developing youth itself already sufficient to win everything, we won’t see Barca need to sign players like Abidal, Daniel Alves, Pique, Fabregas, David Villa etc. at all. You want to say Pique and Fabregas were from Barca? Well, if they are so good in developing players, why not just develop another Pique or Fabregas?
The fact is, the extreme measure of going towards only 1 side (either signing good players only or develop youth only) will not bring any success.

I hope for the sake of Arsenal he stays and some top players are added to the squad… else, this club will be definitely battling for mid table.
And why did they build the emirates if it has only doomed the club??… I’d rather have highbury and a top team fighting for trophies…. Plus the name has nothing to do with Arsenal’s legacy it is just some marketing deal.

No body will blame for whatever you decide rvp you’ve done your best and contrute alots to the best and worse arsenal result. Pple say arsenal was always there for you whenever you sustained injury yes you too was always being there for arsenal whenever you are injury free and @ the sametime you always sustained injury while serving the same klub You’ve done exteremly well if you find a good fc club that will provide for you what you want i wish you well. 7 solid years without trophies is not a thing of joy!

he has been in the club for many years…if he leaves well….a replacement will have to be found…but you never know..he might end up staying and end his career at Arsenal by the age of 36 ! Only RvP knows where his future will be !
