Vermaelen – Fabregas was determined to join Barca

Posted on September 07, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has added his tuppence-worth to the Fabregas to Barcelona saga, and says that the Spanish international as good as confessed to his team-mates that he was “determined” to move to the Nou Camp during the summer.

Vermaelen said: “Cesc carries Barcelona in the heart, in his DNA…therefore it is impossible for him to forget about them.

“He was determined to go to Barca last summer, he more or less confessed it in the dressing room. But that is past history.

“Now he is 100 per cent ready to put his all in to a great season with Arsenal.”

But really the question remains whether Fabregas will really be playing with all his heart this season. I have seen many comments from fans saying that the Arsenal captain didn’t look at all like his former self in the games played so far.

Let us hope that he really does get over it, and quickly…..

Isn’t it strange the way people use this DNA rubbish as an excuse to get their way? Admittedly we signed him from Barca, but he knew about his molecular makeup then. Or are we to understand that this scientific discovery had not taken root in Spain by then?

In any case, why does our future prospective captain want to get involved in this messy business? If we are to be coexed into selling, it must be at the right price. This DNA fog just muddys the water.

Have to admit that Fabregas didn’t look like his former self during his first game. However my guess is that his fitness is still not back so i wouldn’t blame him.
Let’s just hope he will be back in form and lead us to glory!

If he goes, he should not be replaced with a French man. Arsenal failings are due to so many French players who cannot compete with other countries at the national team level. Arsenal should start getting rid of the French contingent

for f*** sake can we stop talking about his dna? this is a football club not a biology lab the transfer window is shut its over he is an arsenal player at this moment and a great professional he will help us win something this year so shut it

  7. Arsenal1Again says:

Yes, Like Thierry Henry’s Monaco DNA, Walcott’s Southampton DNA ….. DNA means in Belgium that you’re automatically going back to the club you started at.

Or is Vermaelen being misquoted? I hope he is because this kind of talk could cause a rift in the dressing room between him and the team Captain. We don’t need another Gallas/Toure debacle, where’s the professionalism there???? The guy was a Club Captain himself in Holland with Ajax … so yes, I have to believe it’s a misquote, or just Bullsh!t … I can’t believe Vermaelen would be this dense.

Of what use will it be for Fabragas to play half-heartedly for Arsenal for a whole season? Does he have control over his form? Don’t you think that as a human being, he will be concerned about retaining his form? Do you expect that he will play half-heartedly for a whole season and then tell Guardiola not to bother that it was deliberate? In my opinion, he does not have total control over his form and so will be concerned about keeping it. He should play play well for us this season irrespective of where he will be next season.

  12. real cese pls stand up says:

i would have love to he his DNA if he was bought from Hercules FC’s youth academy!!

non-the-less i still believe Cese is decent man and he’ll full-fill his commitment and play his heart out.

it would be very painfully seeing him leave but v have to move on.

  15. trin says:

@ karis Thats slightly racist and completely untrue. Is it that french players liek henry, pires and viera cannot play in other leagues. Malouda and Anelka at chelsea, gallas, Evra.
Most if not all of our french players are very good, just inconsistent but thats a problem that affects most of our squad evcept fab, RVP, and verm. Maybe we should buy more english players like milner for twice as much as hes worth or shawcross so he can break other peoples legs instead of ours.

    Hahahaha
this is what a big mistake Wenger did this summer keep Cesc . as you know that he is leaving anyhow ….the idot spanish need Arsenal when he have no place in barca and now after mature his game he was talking about DNA and his mother land what so ever . sell him and with the money arsenal should have 3 more good player i believe .

now keep him but he did not play at his best and he also will follow RVP soon injuries

Add Walcott to the list. He will be gone for a while with an ankle injury. We have only 2 strikers for the next 2 months!! Arsenal must be the unluckiest team. I have yet to see Lampard, Drogba, Rooney, out for more than 3 weeks. I fucking hate this, and I give up!!

  18. moses says:

its not surprising that even our own player has admitted of the cesc DNA b…st. the only thing that is worrying me now is will the dressing room be at harmony now that our players know that our captain is secretly committed to another club, wenger should strip him of his captaincy and sell him as soon as possible or just let him rot at the rersearves

arsenal will be the only team in the world currently havin a captain whose interests r at some other club ! it absolutely make no sense to me .atleast am happy dat we hav a fabregas like player in ramsey !we shud hav bought a player like diego or gourcuff .also chamakh gourcuff attack worked big time for bordeaux last season .as far as i know in a way gourcuffs also a great passer of the ball :(

vermaelen has done nothing wrong in tellin the truth .few days bfore fabregas itself said he was stopped from joinin barca by arsenal .so please dont blame vermaelen whos atleast givin commitmen to the club unlike fabregas :) .vermaelen with such a technical ability will be more effective as a cdm ,atleast in future i want to see him in cdm

  21. Recalcitrant says:

Guys dont get worked up. Fabregas is definitely going to go to Barcelona next season. All this talk about Barca came up only after the impressive performance he put in last year. If he cant do the same, the same Barcelona will reject him, Pep is no fool either. So either Fab plays brilliantly for us this season and ups his market value (60 million pounds) or he plays ok and gets rejected by Barca and goes on to end his career at Arsenal, as I dont think he will then ever think about Barcelona after being rejected. Either ways win win situation for Arsenal. Not to forget Arsene Wenger is still alive and he will get to do what is best for Arsenal as he always does.
