Vermaelen Joins Wilshere In Treatment Room!
Just when you thought things were on the up at Arsenal, and lets face it they couldn’t have got much worse could they, there are reports in today’s Daily Mirror saying that defender Thomas Vermaelen could be out for two months!
The defender took a knock on his Achilles against Udinese two weeks ago which forced him to miss the defeat at Old Trafford, and he also pulled out of Belgium’s internationals this past weekend in hope that the injury would recover. Alas it has not and yesterday he underwent surgery to correct the problem.
Vermaelen could be out for two months, but it is hoped he will be back sooner, which comes as yet another massive blow to manager Arsene Wenger who learnt at the weekend that midfielder Jack Wilshere could be out for three months.
The current injury to Vermaelen is on the opposite leg to the one that he suffered with last season, which forced him to miss the majority of the season, and it is hoped that by having surgery now the same problem will not occur again.
I must say I feel sorry for Arsene Wenger as things just seem to go from bad to worse right now, but many will say it serves him right for not adding more players during the transfer window. Life doesn’t get any easy being a Gooner does it!

this is the perfect opportunity to test mertesecker and santos. Our next couple of games are not so dangerous, so our super twosome can hold the defense till vermaelen arrives.
Bring it on……..we are ready for them.

Why didn’t we buy Cahill for £15m! We could have got him, didn’t and he will be off to Chelsea following Mata. Arsene identifies the players, the board fail to secure….
Let’s hope we get Cahill, Hazard and M’Villa in January and offload the panic buys and dead wood in the squad.

Injuries are part of the game. How many players can a manager add to ensure that despite of injuries the team remains afloat.Let the game begin and we will find out Arsenal can still do fine with injuries to key players
Opinions divided. What do you think?

I REALLY THINK OUR STATE OF THE ART TRAINING PITCH IS COMING BACK TO HAUNT US. I BELIEVE AT LEAST THE TRAINING PITCH SHOULD NOT BE AS VERY GOOD AS THE MAIN PITCH OR STADIA SO THAT THE FEET IS USED TO HARD PITCHES. WE TRAIN ON SOFT PITCHES AND PLAY ON SOFT PITCHES. JUST MY OPINION ON STOPING THESE INJURIES

I’m sorry but after the whole Steed Malbranque fiasco, I have stopped believing in newspapers. Dont be surprised if he starts in the match against Swansea.

The loss of vermaelen will hit us harder and i have a feeling van persie will soon be injured as well….vermaelen is becoming a luxury now missing virtually the whole of previous season now missing two months of this one these injuries have really taken away the excitement lets hope these new dudes can step up! And benyoun came without a medical dont be suprised if he ends up injured as well

Arsene Wenger failed to add players during transfer window?
Gosh, he added a record 6 senior experienced players i.e Mertesacker, J Y Park, Mikel Arteta, Andre Santos, Gervinho, Yossi Benayoun, 2 Juniour players who are ready to play and as it appears become some of the most exciting players in the World if you consider their style, pace and technique, i.e Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Ryo Miyaichi and very promising prospects i.e Joel Campbell and Carl Jenkinson.
Yes we lost 5 Senior players in Cesc Fabregas, Samir nasri, Emmanuel Eboue, Gael Clichy and Nicklas Bendtner, but there was also promotion of Ignasi Miquel, Francis Coquelin, Emmanuel Frimpong and Benik Afobe.
Surely, what we need is proper attitude as we have players but if everyone is talking like you, we are doomed.

I think Medical staffs can rightful answer this! they’r the only people who knows where the problem is. diagnosing a 1 week problem takes @list 3months, yyyyyy?? I just hope this wont be the repeat of what happened with Tv5last season.
Quick recovery Welshere & Vermaelin see u soon on the pitch.

What concerns me is Wilshere out for a few days, turns out to be 3 months. Tv out for a few days, turns out to be at least 2 months. Who is coming up with these time frames. Getting per in was a great signing to play with tv. However we have now gone back to LK and Johan D being his partner. We should have got cahill as well. Tv was out injured and we all know what happened last season. Now cahill is playing well for england we may well have missed our best opportunity to get him. Mata and cahill both at chelsea by january?

I would laugh if kos and mert pair up and go 10 games without conceding a goal. Some good news. Verminator should only be out for 5 weeks and not 8weeks as 1st feared.

“The plantaris muscle arises from the lateral supra condylar line and the long slender tendon of the muscle descends between the gastrocnemius and the soleus muscles. The tibial nerve, a branch of the sciatic nerve, is the nerve of the posterior compartment of the leg. The tibial nerve is related superficially to the plantaris tendon, but in the present case we report an anomalous plantaris tendon that passed between the tibial nerve and its branch to the soleus muscle. Such an entrapment of the plantaris tendon between the tibial nerve and its branch to the soleus is an extremely rare finding, which is neither reported in standard textbooks of anatomy nor in any other research report. The pull of the plantaris tendon may press upon the nerve to the soleus, thereby causing compression neuropathy. Also, surgical exploration of the thin plantaris tendon must be carefully performed, especially when it is trapped between the two nerves. Knowledge and awareness of such anomalies may be important for academic, clinical and surgical purposes.”
I guess this is what’s happening to Verm, so don’t blame our medical staff causa that’s as that abstract says it’s quite rare.

@sokeye i’m a med student. I also think somebody need to check what’s happening with the med staff, cuz it’s really strange that our players get injured so often, but in this case no one can blame them.
