Victor Wanyama Linked With Arsenal
Arsenal Linked With Kenyan Defensive Midfielder
Victor Wanyama, a 21 year old defensive midfielder who currently plays for Celtic in Scotland has been rumoured to be looking for a move to the EPL because he is unhappy with Celtics use of his abilities. The teams that are rumoured to be in contact with him are Arsenal and Man Utd.
Since Wanyama signed for Celtic, he has been a revelation. He is a tank, of massive proportions, but is very skilled on the ball, and can score goals. Out of 29 scottish league apperances he has scored 4 goals. Don’t be quick to assume that just because he scores goals he “likes to go on the attack too much”, because that just would not be true, he is very defensive minded.
“Wanyama quickly became a fans favourite at Celtic due to his consistency. He is a robust midfielder who can also play in defence. Wanyama is able to pass the ball, hold up the play with his strength, tackle and has a general calmness on the ball” [wikipedia]
When I watched some of Celtics matches during last season he was phenomenal! I was so impressed that he has been in my top 3 choices for defensive (tank-like) midfielders ever since. I didn’t think he would be transferable for a while because he only joined Celtic last summer, but if he is disgruntled with Celtic and wants to leave them then I would love to see him in an Arsenal shirt. He would be a more appropriate signing than M’Vila (IMO).
The only problems with a Wanyama signing would be that he would also have to leave for the African Cup of Nations, and that we already have such promising players in that position in the likes of Frimpong and Coquelin (let alone Song). You never know though, Wenger knows what is best and will make the final decision.
I could only find a brief and low quality video of Wanyama’s skills, but if you haven’t seen him play at all, it will suffice. Let us know what you think.
ARSENAL FOR LIFE
by JG

Wanyama is a promising young player with enough sterngth and holds the ball.more to that he is relatively cheap as compared to yann m’villa..wenger u will make the emirates faithfuls more happy.pls do so mr wenger.

M’vila everytime he has top international experience and plays in a much better league also wont be goin to african cup of nations. Wanyama is a solid player but not m’vila class!

he’s a good dm & would develop well @the emirates. Afcon is the biggest issue as the departure of him & song would leave a gapping hole in the middle of the park were he to join. Still weighing toward yann or capoue on this one..

Any defensive minded defensive midfielder will do.dosent have to be yann.i’ll rather we go for a more xperienced DM to enable le coq and frimmy get some experience until when they are ready and if song decides to leave for his L♥√ع(italy) in future we’ll have 2 beastly DM’s in †ђξ ranks.but it won’t hurt if song stays and we have 3.

I have this assurance that AW will sign m’villa at the late hour to complement song. That is the transfer I want to see happen alongside carzolar. Then we are ready for the season. Don’t know wanyama at all.

victor wanyama is a great player. his brother, macdonald mariga plays for intermilan. man city have been trying to sign him for a while now.
i also know that kenya is not going for the AFCON, so there will be no risk of him leaving the emirates next january. anyway, let’s see. maybe wenger would sign him, but i don’t see him starting ahead of frimpong.

i wish you guyz knew this player well.he is a beast of a player on the ball.pliz wenger live alone the hardheaded mvilla en sign this dude…..u wont regret it………the issue about african cup of nations should not be used here because kenya hardly plays in the tournament.the last time they did so was back in 2002

Do not worry about losing him to the African Cup of nations because Kenya never qualify for it. And this will not change any time soon. M’villa is talented but his attitude is suspect. He seems to be another Samir Nasri-like character.

@taye duggs – Ive been trying to tell that to people for weeks but they are convinced by fifa12 stats that M’vila is the best cdm in the whole f**king world. His attitude would not fit in well at all and it could cause problems with other players. Wanyama is a far better player than M’vila anyway and a team player as well…and apparently Kenya doesnt play in the afcon so there is that as well.
Wanyama > mvila

w eshould put a cap on the number of african players we get. WE have General song, frimpong and gervinho. Thats only 3 players that will go for the african nations cup durring a busy january. No disrespect to Kenya or african fans but no more. Gervinho was drained when he return we cant afford to have 4 or 5 drained players. Our squad is not good enough in the first place.

Wenger knows what he is doing. We shall wait and see of his decisions on what to do for players, but I have just seen many reports saying that we have put a £18million bid in for Cazorls (23million euros) This would be great news, and watching some highlghts from the game last night, walcott is going to be pushed into the ST role
but obvioulsy not the whole time, so Cazorls would be signed to play on the wing AND CAM, good versatility there, as this also gives a bit of time for OX to play CAM too.

If you consider him as a kenyan player you might not see the quality in him but if you consider him as one of Celtic’s best attacking midfielders then you will get your alternative Mvilla answer well unless u haven’t seen him play. Wanyama is way far better than Frimpong and M’villa

Maybe M’Vila’s attitude can be used as a good thing. If things arent going well for him on the pitch he gets pissed off and if the team is performing shit he will tell them and surely that kind of player who tells people when they are doing shit is what we need. And also he said he wanted to go to Arsenal, so maybe he has had a bad attitude because his dream move hasnt happened yet

Wanyama the son of former Kenyan international Noa Wanyama and Bro to Champions league winner McDonald Mariga would be the fairest bet. His brother Heskey and Sylvester also plays fo Kenyan sides Sony and Sofapaka. He’s got a bro who is a pugilist and a national team basketballer. Given his Background and the ability to learn first AW should not hesitate to rush for his signature, after all Mancini has always been on the lookout for this East African song

V.Wanyama is a solid defensive minded kind of a player with tym to grow on the pitch due to his age. He plays Tiote like kind of game and would be a massive boost in Arsenal squad. His services will go in noticed due to Song,Diabi and Arteta presence. In terms of Africa Cup of Nations,Kenya is a rare species.

We need a good back-up goalkeeper to Szczesny, A good back-up right-back to Sagna, A first-choice left-back, A good centre-back (better than Mertesacker, Djourou and Squillaci!) A defensive central-midfielder, an attacking central-midfielder, and another striker (if Van Persie leaves) That’s seven players. My choices would be Butland, Debuchy, Baines, Jagielka, M’Vila, Belhanda and Huntelaar!
