Vito Mannone joins Fabianski in wanting to leave Arsenal

Posted on November 21, 2011 by admin

Just when it was starting to look like Arsenal had managed to sort out there goalkeeping problems with Wojciech Szczesny looking good as Number One, and Lukas Fabianski and Vito Mannone as backups in case of injury, it seems that neither of the understudies are happy with their position.

Fabianski has now said several times that he wants to leave in January to try and win back the Poland international jersey from Szczesny, and now Vito Mannone has also expressed his desire to leave.

He was quoted as saying: “The ideal situation would be to let me go on loan and then make it permanent.”

With Manuel Almunia the only other reserve keeper at the moment it would seem that the Gunners could have another goalkeeping crisis coming up next year.

Anyone fancy Jens Lehmann back again?

Not at all,der are many keepers who would jump at d opourtunity 2 play 4 Afc so wenger should buy a keeper or promote 1 4rm d youth teams!

  2. Red DB 10 says:

The reason they are so keen on leaving is mainly because of Szczesny’s age.
Seeing as he is first choice at the age of only 21 anyone behind him will never get a game.
Maybe we should just get an experienced keeper over 32 years of age who will accept the fact that he is back up?
Tricky predicament but its great that Szszesny is getting better and better each game.

    Who realistically would we sign?

At the moment I can’t see Wenger signing another keeper so it looks like it’ll be James Shea as no. 2?

What is all this talk about looking for another GK? Both Fabs and Mannone have their contracts with the club. They will respect their respective contracts and I am yet to hear that any one of them has handed in a transfer request so there is no way the issue of leaving arises. They should both bide their time

  6. Shepherd says:

I would like to see a bit of rotation in the goal keeping position. Vito did well when he had his time in the XI and I would like to see him get a few games even if it’s just Carling cup. He is the genuine shot stopper in the team n tall about a talk back line, it would then be a giant back 5.

What’s the point of a big team if you only ever play 15 of them?

wenger should have known this was bound to happen as scezny and fabianski are both internationals and will want a chance to play in the euros. Anyway fabianski should understand that he is second choice because of his performance. Love arsenal

    Noooooo not Manone!
I was shocked (in a good way) of how talented he was when we played against Fulham and he practically won the game for us! I think he should be our 2nd choice keeper..

Well, i guess the only thing wenger has to do is to make use of the two Keepers, instead of using one only

  10. Travis Bickle says:

Mannone has every right to want to leave. He has never been given the opportunity to play at Arsenal, now with Szczesny being No.1 at only 21 Mannone see’s little to no opportunity to play.

An experienced keeper would be ideal. I don’t think Jens would not be a good choice though, I believe his playing days are over. A keeper inside the ages of 31-35 would be ideal.

A rumour around Tim Wiese as a possible No.2 and also I understand his contract expires this season, and would cost next to nothing or in the summer nothing….Besides Tim Wiese I cannot think of any keepers who fit these requirements.

Can any of you Gunners fans?

    Don’t say Lloris

Not surprising tbf, they’re both young keepers and it would be ridiculous to expect the two of them to warm the bench for a few years. I say good look to them, and just hope we can find some good replacements :)

Any keeper who wants out should be sold. there are all sorts of injuries that can affect a keeper its up to the understudiea to be patient then when their chance comes grab it. nothing wrong with loans to give them.game time. but i would rather see almunia and fabianski and shea leaving before mannone. but if he aint up for the fight ahip.him out typical italian waving the white flag and trying to change sides lol!
