Walcott will be a star striker for Arsenal says the Ox
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been speaking about the importance of Theo Walcott to the Arsenal team, and firmly believes that he will keep getting better. He is also an important figure in the dressing room and was a huge help to the Ox after he joined from Southampton last summer.
The Ox was still 17-years old and was playing in league one, two divisions below Arsenal, when he was signed by Arsene Wenger. It was Theo Walcott, another former Southampton player who helped the young player to settle quickly at the Emirates. Walcott had gone through a similar process when he arrived at the club, training and playing with football legends like Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Henry.
“Theo’s got such a mature head on his shoulders. He’s great on and off the pitch so he’s important for us.
“He was great for me when I first arrived here. He took me under his wing and helped me.
“When he came along, it must have been even more daunting because I think Ashley Cole was the only English player around at the time.
“I’m sure he has learned off the best. He’s getting better and better and there’s no-one better to learn from.
“From the player that I first started watching to the man he is now, he is only getting better and better and he’s only 23.”
Walcott impressed again against Newcastle, scoring a hat-trick and also playing as a winger and setting up goals towards the end. Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that the other players are always teasing Walcott slightly and encouraging him to sign a new contract. It seems as if that will happen soon, which will be great for Arsenal and will obviously please his friend and team mate.

Hopefully he will sing a new contract. If walcott can play like he did against newcastle week in week out, he’s definately worth 100K a week.

Surely securing Walcott to a long term deal is the main priority for wenger and the board! I just hope they give him the money he’s asking for and the board realise that to keep the best players at the club, you’ve got to give them the best wages. Losing Walcott would be an absolute disaster in my opinion, he’s looking better than ever and not even at his prime yet. SIGN HIM UP!!!

If that Podolski-Cazorla understanding comes back to life, then we add the Giroud-Walcott connection, and add that Arteta-Wilshere industry, with that 2nd half passing speed & creativity (against Newcastle), life can become a lot happier for a Gooner… Of course, we still need to address that back four leakage!!!

Wel wat can i say bout theo a lot of people get on his back i always support him and im glad he is showing wat he can do and plus how much he has imporved over the years i jusr hope the muppits up stairs pay him wat he wants coz 2013 could be a great year for us gunners fans all over the world… Just one more thing i like to say im so happy to see we ave for English lads in the startin line up

Would like to see Theo and Giroud playing together should work on paper.
Hopefully he signs on Arsenal have shown alot of faith in him and I’m hoping he signs.
The reality is if he wants to play striker he wont get that at Utd or City either.

AOC has it right,TW is finally showing the sort of football that will definitely make him just that if he keeps it up?
However the fact that AOC thinks he is a ‘great guy’ is no guarantee he will become a ‘star striker’. The next 4 or 5 games will be more of an indicator because Arsenal have played Swansea 3 times since the Swans made the EPL and in all 3 games Arsenal were outplayed, beaten twice, and got an undeserved 1-0 win at home last year. After that its Man City and Chelsea.
So I think we will know a lot more about TW the striker after these games! His performances in these are likely to be a better indicator than the opinion of a young player who himself has only just hit the level of fitness needed to survive in the EPL

Well said by the ox! With thierry henry taking theo under his wing and coaching him by pointing out his mistakes and making corrective adjustments to his style of play theo would be a phenomenal striker!

For what it’s worth, in my humble opinion, theo is on his way out. These transfer rumours etc have Gažedis and the “self sufficient model” written all over them. But this time I seriously hope I’m wrong!

Its always a good idea in having as many talented homeland players possible within your side, so snapping up Baines would be a great thing to see, my guess though is that when he finally leaves eve his destination will be manchester and its manu im most leaning towards

I dont think we’ll be signing anyone tomorrow as theyd be most likely spotted round the Emirates sorting a few things out, also theres the games/preperations to concentrate on. I believe that Wenger wont buy anyone till he sells Djourou and Arshavin first then taking a closer look at the Theo situation, after all that he’ll be focusing on buying, also selling some more like Santos Mannone (loan) and a couple of others. Fingers crossed we sign the right pros and rid ourselves the cons
