Walcott won’t let Henry be Arsenal’s TH14 again – “He’s not getting it back!”
The Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has made it clear that he won’t be giving Thierry Henry his old shirt Number 14 back, no matter how long he stays at the club!
He said: “I’ve got Thierry’s shirt number now but he’s not getting it back — even if he comes back for a while. I’ve already told him that.”
walcott spent one season playing with Henry before the Frenchman left for Barcelona and was totally in awe of the Arsenal legend, but now he feels they can play together as equals this time around although he loves having him back in the squad.
“It’s great having him in training.” Walcott continued. “He’s a great finisher as always and a good leader around the dressing room.
“He’ll be very good for the young guys coming through, he’s so much experience.
“He’s been everywhere to World Cups and won leagues, so he’s only going to help on that side of the game. He’s another option up front as well.”
“I’ve obviously played a lot more games now and gained more experience. I’m one of the senior players even though I’m only 22.
“I’m much more relaxed around the place, but still work hard which is important.
“I’m not star struck like I was before, I’m just normal now.”
In fact if anything Walcott is now one of Arsenal’s biggest stars behind Van Persie, and it is their partnership that has been one of the reasons why Van Persie is breaking records this year.

I have two concerns over Henry joining us temporarily. First of yes, he will be a great role model for the young guns and general morale boost for the team.
The first problem is that the team has to be reshuffled in order to fit him in, that is to say Henry and RvP play at the same time. I don’t see the point in Henry sitting on the bench and only playing one or two games in his short spell at arsenal. So if that’s the case, it will take time for the team to get used to another striker up front or a new formation and Henry’s style of play.
An even bigger problem is then when Henry has to go, our team has just gotten used to having him in the squad. We will be back to square one with only one decent striker and a hole where Henry was. The team will have to reshuffle again and get used to the original formation and style we played.
The real solution would just be to sign a permanent, world class striker where once he’s in, there’s no continual shuffling of the team. We need stability and consistency in our side, not has beens. I love Henry but I really think having him back is not a good solution. For one, MLS is slower and less aggressive than English and CL football. Secondly, Henry is 34 and has lost a lot of pace. I love the man, and I’m holding thumbs that it will work out for him and us, but logically it doesn’t make any sense.
But maybe I’m wrong, maybe Henry is one of those Arsenal DNA types and will always play well for us. I certainly hope so, we will see. A very risky decision by Wenger and board.

Players can’t swap numbers before the end of the season and Henry’s only staying for 2 months, so in January Walcott can’t lose his number 14 even if he wants to. By the way, didn’t Henry use to wear the number 12 shirt for france?

To all of you who have it in for Ramsey take a closer look at the games.
Who put Walcott through one on one today?
I agree that Ramsey might give a few too many wrong passes but that is only because he has the vision to look for the difficult killer pass.
other than Song all the rest of our midfield just pass sideways or backwards, (I won’t name names).
He is still 21 and only needs some top class coaching to put him on the next level.
I relly feel sorry for Walcott because it is clear to see that he has been on the wing for so long that he is less calm in front of goal now than when he was 16 years old at Southampton. AW has destroyed the young guys career because at any other club he would be playing as a striker from day one.
Djourou is just way too clumsy
Chamakh is a lost cause
Arshavin needs to go ASAP.
Lets hope the tight board will spend but knowing how stubborn AW is I doubt it.

Haha this is a yoyo forum. Hardly any are consistent in their views. But the game showed walcott for exactly what he is. All pace and no guile. He has learned nothing since he was 16. Wenger it can be argued has not had an impact on him. It’s a shame. He wants to play as a central striker but has no brain when he has time. He’s therefore an instinctive player but not a calm thinking player. Let’s hope that th14 will have a serious impact on him in these 2 months.
