Wellington Silva looks like a waste of time…..
The Daily Mirror is reporting that one of Arsenal’s future prospects, Wellington Silva, has been eating too much pizza! The 18-year-old Brazilian player is currently on loan with Spanish side Levante and has been lectured to by the coaching staff about his behaviour and that it could jeopardise his career with the Gunners.
The midfielder has been accused by the manager, Luis Garcia, of spending too much time on social networking sites like Twitter and eating too much unhealthy food at the local pizzeria.
Garcia told the player to start behaving more professionally and that he is reporting on him to Arsenal. He said: “I want him to be more professional in his behaviour. Arsenal want us to work and help him and not only in terms of football”.
The coach does understand that it can be difficult for young players to adjust to moving overseas at a young age, but insists that there is plenty of support available for the young player. He said: “We’ve drawn up a programme for him and I want more time spent with his team-mates to help him settle and with the different language. He does have a problem settling in, being lonely. It’s important that he has someone to help and guide him”.
Wellington was sent to Levante in order to get playing experience and to qualify for a work-permit before he can join Arsenal in London. But his behaviour has meant he has hardly featured for the club so far this season.
This is an extension of the problems he caused in Brazil after his transfer from Fluminense to Arsenal was confirmed. He immediately fell out with the coach and refused to turn up for training. His coach at the time, Muricy Ramalho, said: “I am very unsatisfied with him. He misses training, arrives late, argues with his father, this has nothing to do with Fluminense. He needs to become a player because right now he still isn’t one”.
It was thought that this was due to personal problems with Ramalho, but it seems that he has continued his attitude since arriving in Spain….

that’s a shame, i hope he sorts himself out because he has talent. Wenger won’t put up with him if he misses training and all that. I was looking forward to seeing him aswell…

Did Wenger sign Ryo in case this happened? I had thought they were perhaps too similar (I could of course be wrong!). Atleast one of the two looks a prospect!

I think he needs to come to the Emirates as soon as officialdom allows. The calming parental influence of Arsene Wenger is required and soon, otherwise young Silva will become one of Arsenal’s rare disappointments.

maybe the bad boy will be the new george best!!….im sure wenger will sort it out. Wenger is brilliant with developing young players, but some (like pennant) are just not self-disciplined enough.

It’s amazing how often bad attitude ruins a promising player’s career. But you have to take into account, he’s moved from Brazil as a teenager, he’s in a different continent with a different language, he’s only young and we should give the lad a break.

Not this bad boy story again, not after I ve just read about the exploits of Denilson and Oliviera in the Real Betis team. Those were very talented Brazilians, but their behavior left a lot to be desired! Hope he doesnt end up as some spoilt hot head, coz I enjoy the pride I have for all the kids who don the Arsenal jersey.

For every Pennant there’s a Van Persie who reforms and becomes a model pro. Nasri apparently left out of France squad due to his attitude. Wenger is adept at handling these situations but time will tell. Should know whether it’s worth it after the first year. It can’t be easy for the kid. Best, Maradonna, Gazza, Zidane all nuts in different ways.

It was pretty bad pizza though, a carrer threatening pizza. Aligator, coconut and tripe from a aardvark.
I think manager, Luis Garcia should be more aware of take away options in the area and advise his young charge accordingly.
