Wenger admits interest in Yohann Gourcuff
Arsenal’s manager Arsene Wenger admitted he was interested in the star midfielder Yoann Gourcuff in the summer, but the transfer to the Emirates didn’t go through due to Gourcuff’s knee injury.
“I was interested. Then I learned of his medical condition.” said Wenger.
Wenger is expected to go for the player again in January if the Frenchman recuperates from the surgery he underwent on his knee. Gourcuff has yet to play any game in this season for Lyon, but he is expected to be back in January, so the move to Arsenal could still happen if he can prove that he has recovered full fitness.
Gourcuff joined Lyon in 2010 coming from Bordeaux. He cost the French giants €22 million, but the impact was not as great as everybody hoped. He played in 31 games scored 4 goals and offered just 5 assists since he joined the club, but this can be attributed to his injury problems since his arrival.
The attacking midfielder also has a total of 28 appearances and 4 goals for the French national team, and at 25 years-old he is still a top prospect if Wenger can coax him back to his previous excellent form.
Gourcuff was brilliant when he played for Bordeaux, but the injuries kept him out for a while and you couldn’t say if he is still the same top class player but this obviously hasn’t stopped Wenger’s interest if he could get him at a bargain price, especially as he has the potential to replace the missing Cesc Fabregas.

we cannot afford 2 sign him n then bring him back 2 full fitness, we have no time 4 stuff ups n as we saw with ramsey & eduardo long term injury can really f*ck up a players quality n more importantly ability, plus his too expensive. buy martin marvin-schouax(last season 17 assists & this year 5 already) or mathiue valbuena (been assisting like crazy this season n dribbles like nasri) in form gourcuff is better then in form nasri but we have no time 4 that NOW

Gorcuff is a risk because of his health. If arsene wants an attacking mid in January he should go for douglas-costa, renato augusto, gotze, or hazard. These players would make an impact but I leave the window to arsene, I hope he can talk the board into spending money and getting the club that I love back on track! Resign our top players and strengthen the defense!

why would pep want go to arsenal? why would wenger want take on england who can’t beat any 3rd rate countries,let alone have any good players. i assure you nethier manager would leave thier current clubs for a lesser club.
as for gourcuff, wenger been interested in him for three years,but i very much doubt wenger will go out and try and get him in january.
why ? because why would any manager go and buy a player that not played any games after a knee operation?,in the report he’s not expected back till january, so no one will be after him, plus once you get a serious knee injury you never the same player,i doubt wenger will get anyone for the midfield till next summer, unless he can shift arshavin which i hear was hard to do last summer.
as wenger says he got a very big squad which means he got to sell before he’ll buy, that means bendtner ,alimunia,denilson,arshavin,chamakh,and sqillachi all got be sold in 30odd days in january too be able to bring in players, and as the players mention are on such high wages and clubs don’t want to match thoughs wages ,i expect to see no one leaving or any big signing coming in till the summer.

we don’t need this guy,we need some one who is experince and calm on pitch that is kaka so our young boys can learn how to control temper and prassure from opionion.
M’villa will be far better to destroy opinion game then our alex song in DMF.in defence line Cahill/ Samba both are good and strong but not claver as phil jagilker i wouldn’t mind to see him at arsenal despite he is 30s.
in our attack podolski will be multi option for us.he can play winger as well as striker and he is very experinced player can influance our young players like ryo, aoc,aneke,watt,necolas yanneis.

put Gazidis in the role of the clubs marketing, and allow David Dein to assist Wenger in present decisions, and transfers etc.
Finally, move Steve Bould or Tony Adams into the Defensive Coach position.
