Wenger – Arsenal are improving and the teams above are catchable
It is always good to see Arsene Wenger in a good mood after an Arsenal game, and you find him more satisfied that when the Gunners totally dominate a match, score three goals AND keep a clean sheet.
It has given him further confidence that his team are still heading to challenge for a top four position. He said after the game: “Overall it was a controlled performance where we had complete domination of the game. It was a good pace in the first half – in the second it was a little bit off – but we were never really in trouble. We are getting stronger and overall it is a positive afternoon. We scored five goals last week, three goals today and didn’t concede.
“We put ourselves with a good handicap with the 8-2 [defeat] at Manchester United! It’s good but I was not used to seeing that before. It was a shock every time I saw minus in front of our goal difference. We know that can make a difference at the end of the season. Not only is it the first time we have had a positive goal difference but if you look at the teams above us there is not much difference – they are plus two or four maybe. That is catchable.
“The spirit of the squad was right from the first to the last minute. We worked well together. I was always positive with the team because of course we were in a very bad position – but you felt the desire to do well. Now that we are doing better it is still there.
“The team wants to improve, to work hard and get better and better. That is the most satisfying thing today. In the dressing room at half time you feel that they don’t switch off at 2-0. That was not always the case.”
Arsenal are now level on points with Liverpool and Tottenham in joint fifth, and if Fulham beat Spurs 3-0 today the Gunners will go above them for the first time this season.
Come on Fulham!

There are some interesting fixtures coming up in the next couple of months. Check out this list…
Man City vs Newcastle 19th Nov
Chelsea vs Liverpool 20th Nov
Man Utd vs Newcastle 26th Nov
Liverpool vs Man City 27th Nov
Newcastle vs Chelsea 3rd Dec
Chelsea vs Man City 12th Dec
In comparison Arsenal play Norwich, Fulham, Wigan and Everton. If everything goes to form Arsenal should be in the top 4 by Christmas. If it doesn’t go to form City and United will have lost their lead. Either way Arsenal needs to pick up wins in the next four matches.

TV5 was brilliant, his defending was impecable, when he ran back after Kol missed the kick over head, slid forever it seems in the box, watched the ball all the way and blocked it. Amazing, and a goal to boot. He is our future captain.

Already this season has turned out some topsy turvey results with many goals involved. Who would have thought that it would take until November before Arsenal’s goal difference reached the plus side, Manchester United scoring 8 and then conceding 6, both games at home? And Newcastle United still unbeaten!
All this suggests that upsets are far from over and the final top four by no means certain. Of course, those Clubs living beyond their means have a clear advantage during the Transfer Windows and it will be up to self-sustaining
Clubs like Arsenal to pursue a more modest but judicious course in order to compete. It can be done, however, as Arsenal have proved in the past. All true fans have an important role to play in the successful progress of the team by unstinting support, both in victory and defeat. Without this we cannot succeed.

I think wenger could experiment with a 3-5-2 formation
Koz-per mert-verminator
Walcott-ramsey-song-arteta-santos
Van persie-gervinho
Subs:ryo arshavin rosicky djourou jenkinson oxo kid
I think this formation could be ideal for dominating a game, 2 strikers, left n right mid player will have great cover when attacking in song or verm on da left or koz on da right and our 3 best defender will be on the pitch with mert stayin central
Song will be be the key man and needs full concerntration to cover if koz n verm bomb forward and the left and right mid as well as doing his usual job but I would not expect koz n verm to go forward to often as our defenders need to defend n leave our offencive players to attack the game knwing they have great defenders behind them to mop up who can actually mop up
I think this form can work

i think putting the oxo kid instead of walcott could change our right attacking display a bit more threatening!! Instead of walcott putting poor crosses into the box… the oxo kid can brilliantly take on defenders and would love and eager to prove for 1st team… BRING IN CHAMBERLAIN!!!

it’s good to see gunner’s are doing good now and winter transfer window will be very important for us.
let’s see who is comming, for sure absent of RVP will really makes a diffirent to current form of arsenal.if wenger do not sign a striker to cover RVP then the result will be same old at the end.

@Charlie, well said…very valid points made….
If we can win the next 4 games, high chances we would be at Top 4 by Christmas & then we have Jack Wilshere coming back…let’s hold our breath & brace for the best….
