Wenger – Arsenal are perfectly good enough to win the title
Arsene Wenger believes that his team will recover from last season’s collapse after the Carling Cup Final, and will learn from their mistakes and go on to win the title in the coming season.
Wenger was speaking after Arsenal’s ecstatic arrival in China yesterday. He said to the press: “I believe that the real destiny of this team is now. It demands the strength of character that champions have. I believe we are perfectly good enough.”
“What we have done last year, considering the age of the squad and the problems with injuries is, for me, a credit to the team. Part of the development of a young team is to improve and win the championship this year.”
That is a very confident statement and I really hope its true, but I would just like to ask if he is going to make sure that there is cover for this season’s usual injuries. The last three years have seen the same injury problems and the same responses, but never any extra cover……

Now he says that defense isn’t our Achille’s heel. Yeah, Mr Wenger, you’re right. But I think our Achille’s heel is YOU and your stubbornness. Even a neonate knows we need to strengthen our defense and replace Clichy. But of course Mr Wenger will tell us in Feb 2012, “This team has shown character, mental strength despite their young age….” That will be after losing another Carling Cup final. He let Alvarez slip through his fingers, now Gary Cahill too will be snapped up by Chelsea or anyone else as Wenger waits to sign a defender from Mars for 2 million pounds

at the moment, the most siginificant improvement of the squad compared to last year at the same time is having Szczesny in the goal instead of almunia.It means +6to7 points itself.

We have a captain thatgets his bum boys to say for him what he cannot, we have a star player that wotn sign and is courting other clubs, our left black has goNe, replaced by a glass boned player, we have centre backs that fall asleep every 2 mins, arshavin that plays lieh cant be arsed, walcott that cant do anythign but run, and average players like Diaby, denilson,squillaci,bendtanr,chamakh,eboue etc etc.

I think he’s going to buy a CB, but that’s all. And it’s not necessary going to be an experienced one which I don’t mind because squillacci has experience, but I’d rather a talented one… This message is a way to make us expect nothing, so anything is going to be good news… and we’re still not done with the fabregas and nasri cases. If one of them or both go, then a replacement will be obligatory. Not spending money you don’t necessary have or have to spend is a thing, but not spending money from a loss in the squad is an other.
We have youngsters ready to seize their chance, but they need competition from the outside. I still think mata has a chance to come, or granero or any player linked with us such as vidal or hazard (it’s not forbidden to dream a little).
In a few words, it’s not over, wait and see etc.
And for arsene’s credit, I have to admit that the most efficient way to humiliate our money splashing rivals would be to win the league the arsene way. I’d love to see that, but it’s a huge risk, and after a few disapointments, it’s difficult to understand such a strategy.
Anyway I’ll support arsenal whatever happens, even if it hurts sometimes, because it’s the club I choose to support.

As a great supporter of Mr W…I’m now even becoming alittle concerned with his recent comments..I feel he is setting us up for not bringing in ne talent, which by the way most of the team are beggin him to do!!!
If our capt departs to Barca as we all expect surely he will invest some money into the team then….or does he think we have enough cover with the likes of Denilson and Diarby!!
One thing I will state Ramsey will be better than Cesc as of this season and the emergence of Frimpong is like having a new signing!!!
I am also hopeful that Traore will come good this season so no need for a new LB.
Having VM back in the team is again like a new signing, so all is not lost….keep the faith and lets hope Mr W gets the cheque book out!!!

Mr AW knows the future. He knows that we are heading for failure all over again. The players coming back from loan and long injury layoffs are the the new signings. Let all eyes be on him as we go afta everything but will win nothing again. I can not wait to see AW win everything with his collection of Koschielny,Diaby ect. This guy called Wenger needs his head examined by a shrink! After the immaturity of last season, the least Gooners expected from this man was some respect!He needs to restore the fear factor to Arsenal by recruiting a certain calibre of players- a no brainer as even my 4 yr old son craves as much!! Failure to do this as a minimum even with Cesc n Nasri staying put will mean disaster in the coming campaign and Wenger should throw in the towel or be shown the exit door if he does nothing to address the obvious problem!!!

AND Wenger should know that pre-season tours are supposed to be showbiz events! A cat walk of sorts to present the team of achievers to fans not resident in England but passionate enough to attend these friendly matches!In the absence of recent success it would have made more sense 4 Wenger to have signed 3/4 big-name players to present on tour!! I’m so sick of Wenger talking crap. Last season he’s so upset and needs to change his philosophy, then it becomes tweak, then not changing at all.
Next was the defence needs support and he will buy a big defender. Then it’ll be a busy summer of transfers. Then all he did was sell Clichy buy a teenager and a Winger.
Then he does a 180 and says no other defenders needed.
Now it’s this side can win the league. So no new signings with our defence is less Clichy and possibly Nasri and Fab too.
He’s just hot wind.
Use Jenkinson, Gibbs, Frimpong, Ramsey so that he can use inexperience for our misfortunes.
