Wenger – Cesc has 5 years on his contract, and only he can stop the speculation!

Posted on July 31, 2010 by admin

The Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke again this evening about the Cesc Fabregas rumours, and he sounded quite depressed about the whole affair, which seems to just drag on and on, no matter what he says.

When asked if he spoken to Fabregas about it recently, Wenger refused to be drawn: “I cannot confirm nor deny anything.” he said. “In the last six months, this story has made our lives difficult. At the moment, what is important is that when Cesc comes back, that he comes out. For me, I have nothing more to add. The conversations with the players have to be private because I cannot come out every time I speak with a player.”

“Cesc returns on August 5. There is no show. There is football. The only show in football is to play good football in the matches. Cesc does that as well as everybody else. What can I say about that? I cannot master what is written in the newspapers, I can only master our decisions and that is it. Cesc has five years to go and that is it.”

He again showed his frustration as he is obviously sick of answering the questions every day: “Because the speculation does not stop. Who can stop the speculation? Only Cesc maybe, I don’t know, maybe not even Cesc. But that is how I feel. We cannot go into a season where everyday you read about that. He has not played today and I sit here and speak about Fabregas.”

It was then mentioned that reports from Spain had said that Barcelona won’t give up until the transfer window shuts, but by then Wenger seemed to have had enough: “Barcelona has given up for a long time. Who is Barca? You say to me ‘Barca has not given up’, what does that mean? Who is the person who says they do not give up? The newspapers? The newspapers do not make those decisions. I told you yesterday what will happen – Fabregas will stay here.”

So that’s that! Do you think the reporters will ask him again tomorrow? I doubt it!

i think in as much as we want Fabregas to stay,it will be in our own interest to let him go.he may not give off his best and that is rather gonna affect us negatively.he should go and we should find a replacement for him.i am tired of this Fabregas issue.

  2. Gooner Nick says:

Wenger is right, only Cesc can make the ‘noise’ from Spain stop and I hope he does. Cesc is a brilliant talent but playing as Arsenal captain you need to let the fans know where you stand

  3. robertmcmahon says:

So Wenger thinks that when Fagregas returns he should “come out”. Well I didn’t see that one coming.

Cesc will give 100% if he stays this season there’s no way he’d tarnish his rep of 7yrs to start playing like crap.

im sick of fabregas and the tranfer talks, if he loves barca so much the let im go. No player is bigger than the team arsenal will servive just like we servived when henry, hleb, flamini etc. So let him go will carry on like he was neva here.
