Wenger – Chamakh has lost confidence, but Arsenal have other striker options
Arsene Wenger has finally admitted that Marouane Chamakh has got a confidence crisis which is affecting his play, but maintains that Arsenal have enough striking options as cover for Robin Van Persie if he needs to rotate the team.
Surprisingly Wenger named the youngster Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as one of the options, as well as the veteran Andrei Arshavin who recently admitted himself that he is not playing well at the moment.
Wenger was responding to a question about whether Arsenal needed a new striker in the transfer window, and he replied: “At the moment, I do nothing in January,”
“I have a big squad, but if you knock at my door and say ‘I have a fantastic player for you’, I will not turn it down.
“If we have no injuries, we should get away with it because we have Oxlade-Chamberlain, who can play there, Park, Arshavin and Van Persie. So we still have offensive players, but we could be a bit short if we have an injury.”
When asked if that list meant that Marouane Chamakh was not an option, and would be going to another club in the transfer window, Wenger said: “It is a confidence issue with Chamakh, but it is difficult to loan him now because of the African Nations Cup,” he said. “They come back in February, usually quite tired, so it is not easy.
“They need to go out two weeks before the tournament starts then it lasts two and a half weeks, then they need two weeks’ recovery. So it is six weeks.”
Wenger at least admitted that an injury to Van Persie could leave him short of options, but I wonder also why Walcott was not on the list ahead of Arshavin who has never been considered an out and out striker in his career….

Please read or listen right. He said in january, there will be enough people for cover. AOC and Arshavin can cover for Gervinho, while we have RVP and Park will be the two out and out strikers. Eventhough we know you are a Wenger-hater, it is not right to try to twist every word he says. What are the spurs gonna do for a living if you keep doing their job?

Two players in jan plz Gotze and another defender,if not Gotze then Hazard,if RVP gets injured and he may not we have Theo and the Ox.Come on Arsenal back to winning ways today BUT DON’T TAKE IT FOR GRANTED PUT THE HARD WORK IN.

Why on earth wil wenger not sign in january. Apart from v.persie, no other striker can keep us in the top four. He has to sign a striker. Arteta only keeps the midfield composed, he is not creative. Ramsey is creative but looses possession easily so the wings(gervinho and wallcott) are v.persie’s only reliable source of supply. We need a world class midfielder.(gotze)

podolski is a must this january. lets not lose out again on a player that quite frankly wants to come to arsenal. we lost out on mata, but arsene brought in arteta instead. not a bad bit of business. but lets not scrimp on the attacking front, we need to give RVP some world class cover. defence is looking ok, and when wilshire is back, the midfield will be as good as any in the PL. Goetze will be a good long term signing but not essential. STRIKER!!!!!! we can all see it, why oh why cant you mister wenger.

Name me a premier sides supporters that doesnt want to see signings in January? The dynamic of our team at the moment is strong. We defend better now than we have done in several seasons and although more cover for RVP would be good, I can see where AW is coming from. Why buy players that are cup tied for CL? Will we win the title this season? No. Will we win CL this season? No. FA cup? As good a chance as anyone else. So why the panic in January? Our most important challenge this season is to finish top four. Will we do that with the squad we have at present? Its likely. Of course Goetze would be great, but get the deal done in place for the summer. Clear out a bit of deadwood then and bring in one or two and we will have a team that can challenge on all fronts. Done this way, we stand a great chance that RVP will stay, and that will be more important than any signings we could make next month.

wenger wont buy anyone in january…..he doesnt tend to and also he is making lots of noises about gervinho walcott and ramsey taking some of the goalscoring pressure from the remarkable RVP.
We need a striker of the calibre that will score a goal every 2 games in case RVP gets injured and when wenger rests him.
This wont happen. We are 7th in the table and have won most of the last 10 games, for wenger thats all the justification he needs. Im sick of the man and his money-pinching antics, always buying cheap like some footballing scrooge. We are a magnificent world-famous massive football club thats being managed by some small-thinking cautious academic that gets his thrills from building a team from youth and cut-price players with not much regard for the quest of silverware. He said he wouldnt mind coming 2nd in the league for the next 20 years didnt he!!!!!!

Wenger has learned from his past mistakes. Every time he takes interest in a player, we have Barca, Spurs, City sniffing around. I think he is keeping things quiet, he knows well we need a striker in January.
As for Chamakh, what a shame, I really like him, but you can see he isn’t confident at all. I think we need to start being more encouraging on the forums. Who knows if any of them read our comments and it actually affects them? It’s not that he’s a terrible striker, it’s just that he doesn’t really do much. He needs to start getting stuck in, run at them a bit and show a bit more enthusiasm. Like I always say, a player who tries is a player worth wearing the red and white. Like Ray Parlour. not the most skillfull of players, but boy did he have the heart of a lion and because of that he made a difference. C’mon Chamakh give us fans something to cheer about, you have it in you!

he dnt wnt any othr team to tke them so he wna keep it silence.with ol these unpatient fans.just relax,rvp wil threatened the club to buy,thats why he ddnt sign the cntract yet.but please get rid of almunia,squid,denilson,arshavin,chamakh,bendtner. waste of space.bt i think wenger will keep chamakh.i doubt he wil let em go.please replace em with podolski that i wud feel suit our play een more.hw do i knw that?he is similar to rvp.and under wenger n rvp he wud b even better.he even cn play in the left we cn rotate them.please wengie these three signings on january wud mkes us chalenge for the title n get rid of player that mkes our squad waste of spaces.

Guys,it is good to not that rvp finally can work well with walcott and Gervinho. the presure created by the two allows the mid fielders and defenders to have a scoring chance. AW can easily replace G with Ox. come January and switch vermalene to songs possition creating room for other defenders.

Fact….okey dat AW will not go 4 a striker in Jan, fine ,what if RVP refuses 2 sign a new contract. Who wud u ‘ve bred as a replacement…AW dont think of yo Park ‘n Chamakah as replacements. Go 4 Podolski ‘n Goetz straight away 4 familiarity purposes ‘n long term contracts.
