Wenger contacts Everton about Jagielka
There have been many Arsenal rumours linking the Gunners with Everton’s Leighton Baines, but today the Mail has an ‘exclusive’ report that Arsene Wenger has now contacted the Toffees about the availability of Phil Jagielka as well.
The report says that Wenger made numerous offers, including one of £15m, for Jagielka last summer, and is prepared to go even higher this year as he is keen to add some more experience to Arenal’s defence.
The 28 year-old England international is certainly in the mould of player that Wenger would love to partner Thomas Vermaelen next season, and with Everton’s financial difficulties a matter of common knowledge David Moyes may have difficulty refusing a generous offer.
The Mail quotes an Everton source as saying: “We have had major interest in Jagielka ahead of the next transfer window. But it will take a huge offer for the club to let him leave.”
Jagielka would certainly be welcome at the Emirates, but if Wenger refused to buy a centre-back in January when the back-line was decimated, is he likely to buy one now that all his centre-backs are fit again?

Prince: why do we need to dispose Bartley? He is great, with lots of experience gained from the loan spell with Rangers. He is great enough to back up Song as a CDM or CB.
GUNNER4EVA: IMO, Sahko is much better, he is so young, yet with so much priceless experience, he is strong like a buffalo, tall like tower, with promising aerial ability.

I think Sahko is the best of the 3. Cahill is overrated.

Sakho is the better player but can he hack it in prem?
I’d prefer Jagielka as he has experience in the prem and with the age of 28 won’t halt development of Djourou, Koscienly and Bartley. However he is left-footed and so is Vermaelen and it’s very unusual to have two left footed CB start together. Neither of these players would be happy with a place on the bench either.
Tbh, I think Wenger could afford a gamble next season and not buy anyone as we would get Vermaelen back who is the leader we need at the back. But if we were to buy someone at CB im torn between Sakho and Jagielka as both have positive and negatives.

forget all them clowns! any1 who follows football closely especialy the smaller clubs knows phil jones is the way to go. only 19 built like a sh@t house door, can play cb and dm and lb, and most importantly everytime blackburn have faced the big clubs this season he has been the best player on the pitch bar none!
He bursts up and down from box to box all game, never looses or gets knocked of the ball, never looses a defensive header EVEN YA YA TOURE GOT RAGDOLLED BY HIM WHEN BLACKBURN PLAYED CITY RECENTLEY! OH AND GUESS WHAT? HE WAS ALSO THE BEST PLAYER ON THE PITCH THAT NIGHT TO WITH ALL THE WEALTH CITY HAD TO OFFER!
forget sakho, jagielka, forget them all if your gonna spend that sort of money jones, jones, and only jones is the way to go!

Just have to make a point to all the Players of Football Manager Hazard is not a direct replacement for cesc. Anyone who thinks so is just a “change” monger. Let the manager run his contract out his way.

Jagielka is the best..he’s the leader that we are missing at our back line and by the way he is not left footed !
