Wenger creates another international – Koscielny to get first cap
Just three seasons ago, Laurent Koscielny’s future was looking nothing more than average in terms of footballing future, the defender having difficulties getting chances and proving his talent. However, after a move to centre-back at Tours, his career looked promising once more, and Wenger’s decision to bring him to the Emirates underlines the progression he has made.
Koscielny himself was stunned by his transition from mediocre defender to first team Gunner: “”I don’t believe any French player would have refused to come and play for Arsenal. It took me four years to go from the bench of Ligue 2 to Arsenal so it is a great achievement”. His pride and once-damaged self-belief will surely be boosted even more after tomorrow’s game against the USA.
His early days at Arsenal might not have gone exactly to plan, the player taking time to adjust to the Premier League, but his displays in this second season of his have ensured that he is among the first on Arsène Wenger’s team sheet. With his ability to play alongside Vermaelen, Mertesacker or Djourou with impressive self-assurance and poise, France coach Laurent Blanc has finally noticed his capabilities as a versatile, quick and composed defender. William Gallas may once have fitted the bill for an adaptable centre-back who is also capable on the ball but, now aged 34, somebody else needs to step in.
From recent evidence, there is little reason why this replacement can’t be Koscielny. Arsenal have played a huge part in the making of internationals, many of which are French. Even in the past few seasons, the squad has included Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby – all players that could still be lingering in the lower leagues if it wasn’t for one fellow Frenchman and his team – Arsène Wenger.
International experience will only help to ameliorate the ever-improving profile of a player that has seen the lows and is ready to experience the highs. How far will Koscielny’s promising career take him? Just how special is he?

A very proud day for Koscielny, Wenger, and Arsenal fans. This is the reason why Arsenal fans should back Wenger through thick and thin.
No one had heard of Koscielny, and now he is playing for France. No one heard of Vermaelan and now he is one of the best CB’s in the Premiership.
Arsenal boast one of the best young keepers in football, 2 quality CB’s, one f the best DMC’s in Song (who doesn’t get the praise he deserves) and of course RVP!
It also appears that M’Vila will be at Arsenal next season. Things are looking up!

When I look back at the doom and gloom comment from the likes of Baz and how we had to buy Cahill (£12million) and Samba (12million) just for starters I am now certain that these guys never were Arsenal supporters.
It has been fantastic to watch how Kos has improved to the level he has now achieved and this is just one example of Arsenes gudance.
We all can name other players ho have improved under the masters guidance and long may it continue.
You know what is really fantastic for gooners like me??
I can know go into articles that are positive about our great club and not read comments from morons who have no idea about our fantastic manager and club.
Baz and Kampy (to name just two) go and support someone else PLEASE.

im really pleased for him…even when he was costing us penalties and cocking up (noticeably with squillacci), i alweays felt he gave 100 per cent and was going to improve.
He is still a bit rash with his tackling in the penalty box, but overall he has really stepped up.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say Koscielny is one of the best CB’s in the league, but he definitely has improved especially of late and stepped up to the plate. International exposure can only do him good. Well done Kossie

Arsenal fc is a great club..world famous!
fair play about kos….wenger may have done his job recruiting a good player ..and he cost 8.5 million dont forget. But if the wenger-lovers were balanced they would concede that the 5.5 million squillacci was a dreadful waste of money. Its possible we could finish 6th or lower this year and i guarantee they would make some excuse for that.

Guys… why are we all screaming about this? Kos started showing his class against Barca in London. After that match, I knew it was only a matter of time before greatness beconed. Lets not forget however that we’ve had Djorou for Years.

That is what A W is all about…building the French national side…buying French players to give them the experience…but, this is the same thing an English Manager would do if their were more of them in charge of the big clubs
