Wenger – Eboue and Rosicky out of Liverpool match, Fab, Traore, Gallas and Arshavin carrying knocks
It seems that Arsenal were harder hit by injuries from the 2-0 win over Stoke last weekend than was first thought.
We all knew that Thomas Rosicky was a definite non-starter with his groin injury which will keep him out for three to fourr weeks, but this is the first we”ve been told about the other injuries.
Emmanuel Eboue is another one that will certainly not play, but other players that picked up “knocks and bruises” during the game were William Gallas, Armand Traore, Cesc Fabregas and Andrey Arshavin, but Wenger is hopeful they will all recover in time for Sunday.
“We have problems with many players,” he said. “If you look at the players who started the game Stoke certainly Eboue and Rosicky will miss this game. Everybody else should make it.
“There are little knocks and bruises here and there. Who could come back? Eduardo and Diaby maybe could make the squad. That is the news we have at the moment.
“Gallas, Traore are still doubts but I think they will make it. Fabregas has a back problem and Arshavin has got a bruised foot too but I think they will make it too.”
Arsenal can hardly afford to lose any more players, but at least Eduardo’s possible return will mean there is one certain out-and-out striker in the squad.
